A flashing check engine light in a Honda CR-V is a serious, potentially dangerous issue. The reason it is so dangerous is because it means the engine has a serious mIS Fire condition. This means there's something seriously wrong with either the ignition, fuel supply or compression. A mIS Fire condition will cause engine hesitation or lack of power during acceleration, which can make the vehicle unsafe to drive. Driving the CR-V with a flashing check engine light can cause serious damage to internal parts of the engine due to uneven rotation and overheating which is why it requires immediate attention. It could also cause unburned fuel to be dumped into the exhauSTSystem and damage oxygen sensors and also cause the vehicle to catch on fire by quickly raising the temperature of the catalytic converter.

Happened to my 2008 CR-V. ATF was just low. Added a quart and problem solved...

The most common reason in the honda crv for this is the wire behind the dash is damaged and you will need to replace it to turn the light off.

II encountered this error in my 2010 Honda CRV this morning. I took it into the service center and they tested it and found that the error code was not a misfire code, it was an issue with the second gear pressure sensor switch in the transmission. They replaced the switch.

The blinking “D” (as per the manual) usually means a transmission issue. Maybe a flush, etc. Get it checked immediately by a Honda dealer or an independent mechanic not AAMCO.
