Well it's a wagon. Basically an adventure mobile but with more power and performance. Why people don't buy more wagons is beyond me.

Had a 12 e-350 traded it in for 17 e 300. Mistake. I traded down.
Over engineered. Hard to use radio. No CD player. Rock hard uncomfortable seats. Rides worse than a Camry. Radio controls on steering wheel are impossible to use and dangerous. Comes with run flats. Once you replace those the ride gets a bit better. Fake leather seats are already starting to wear out. I had an e 350 and traded it on an e 300. Mistake.

What Do Critics Say About the Mercedes E-Class?

  • Consumer Reports says the 2017 Mercedes E-Class is an iconic midsize luxury sedan with reasonably high owner satisfaction scores as it ages.
  • Edmunds rates the E-Class at 3.8/5, praising the extremely luxurious cabin, but doesn’t like the small cargo space in the trunk of the sedan.
  • Kelley Blue Book users give the E-Class a 4.2/5, enjoying the advanced driver assistance features, but owners don’t like the expensive maintenance costs.

What Common Problems Does the 2017 Mercedes E-Class Have?

Common problems found on the 2017 Mercedes E-Class include a fuel leak from the high pressure fuel pump, the instrument cluster failing, along with transmission oil leaks. Overall, these problems are worse than other midsize luxury sedans, leading to higher repair bills as an E-Class ages.

A fuel leak from the high pressure fuel pump is the most widespread problem found on the 2017 E-Class at around 45,000 miles. The pump housing is known to crack which leads to fuel leaking out of it and the lines. The only way to fix the problem is by replacing the pump, which costs around $1,250, depending on local labor rates.

The instrument cluster failing is another complaint from some E-Class owners at roughly 60,000 miles. Electronic components in the gauge cluster start to wear out, leading to the system not displaying information properly. Replacing the gauge cluster is expensive, costing around $1,800.

Transmission oil leaks also show up on some 2017 E-Class models at around 50,000 miles. The seals on the side of the transmission start to fail as they heat cycle with the car. Replacing the seals is a time consuming process which costs around $1,000.

There are 20 recalls on the 2017 Mercedes Benz E-Class, which is worse than many other sedans on the market. The most serious recall covers the fuel system failing from a damaged wire harness. Other recalls cover underbody panels melting, along with some software issues with the stereo system.

How Long Will the 2017 Mercedes E-Class Last?

A well-maintained 2017 Mercedes Benz E-Class can last around 150,000 miles, which is shorter than some other midsize luxury sedans like the Lexus ES. Regular annual maintenance costs are more expensive than most competitors, according to data provided by Repair Pal, at $1,052 per year.

As a used 2017 E-Class reaches 100,000 miles, and depending on the vehicle history, owners should be prepared to replace the windshield wiper arms for $180, the intake manifold gasket costing $575, along with the ABS control module which costs $1,300.

The Mercedes Benz e300 is very reliable. No problems with this car. I keep my car properly serviced at the dealership I purchased the car through.

accountCircle aleen s

It has some problems but they are starting to show closer to the end of my lease. The steering wheel has been starting to squeak and one time it randomly stopped.

accountCircle Melina L

I have not had any issues with the car. The hardest part is the low profile tires, that are easy to scrape and get tire flats with.

accountCircle Angel L

No none at all. I have never experienced any that I'm aware of. Like I said very good quality. Haven't heard anyone complaining

How Is the Technology?

Entertainment technology is great with a standard 12.3-inch COMAND infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Optional upgrades include a more powerful stereo system.

Standard safety technology is great offering:

  • Driver drowsiness monitor
  • Crosswind assist
  • Active brake assist
  • Pre-Safe system
  • Rearview Camera

Optional driver assistance features include:

  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Blind spot monitoring
  • Adaptive headlights
  • Active park assist
  • Rear cross traffic alert
  • Evasive steering assist
  • Lane keep assist
  • 360-degree camera
  • Lane change assist
  • Head-up display

What Engines Come In the Mercedes E-Class?

  • The E400 and E43 AMG feature a more powerful 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, which produces 329 horsepower in the E400, and 396 horsepower in the E43 at up to 21 MPG. It’s equipped with a 9-speed automatic transmission, too. The E43 AMG can go from 0-60 mph in just 4.5 seconds.

What Colors Does the Mercedes E-Class Come In?

How Comfortable Is the Mercedes E-Class?

The 2017 Mercedes E-Class is highly regarded for its comfort, setting industry standards with its luxurious and well-crafted interiors. This high level of comfort is achieved through a combination of elements such as spaciousness, seat design, ride quality, and noise isolation.

Both front and rear passengers in the 2017 E-Class enjoy ample headroom and legroom, offering a spacious and airy feeling even on long journeys. The seats are designed with ergonomics in mind, providing excellent support and cushioning. The upholstery uses high-quality materials, including available leather and optional heated, ventilated, and massaging functions that further enhance comfort levels.

The E-Class ride quality is exceptional. Its suspension is finely tuned to absorb most road imperfections, resulting in a smooth and composed ride. Drivers have the option to adjust the suspension settings according to their preferences, with the available AIRMATIC air suspension system, providing optimal ride comfort.

How Much Storage Space Does the Mercedes E-Class Have?

The 2017 Mercedes E-Class offers ample storage space across its different models, although the amount of cargo space varies from model to model.

The E Class Sedan variant, the most popular model, provides 13.1 cubic feet of trunk space. This is enough space to accommodate several standard-size suitcases or multiple grocery bags. It can fit items like a stroller, a couple of golf bags, or multiple carry-on bags, making it perfect for weekend getaways or business trips.

On the other hand, the E-Class Wagon is a champion regarding cargo space. It boasts 35 cubic feet of cargo space behind its rear seats, and that number expands to an impressive 64 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down. This means you can fit larger items like bicycles, large camping gear, or even some pieces of furniture, making it an excellent choice for family outings or for those who need to transport large items often.

Regarding the Coupe model, the cargo space is slightly reduced due to the sleeker design, with a trunk capacity of 10 cubic feet. It is suitable for lighter travel and can fit a few small suitcases or a collection of shopping bags.

Finally, the E-Class Convertible, known for prioritizing style and the open-air driving experience, offers the least amount of cargo space at 9.5 cubic feet. Even though it’s smaller than the other models, it’s still practical for day-to-day use, and can accommodate a couple of soft bags or a small suitcase, making it perfect for a weekend getaway.

What Are the Differences Between Years?

The fifth generation of the E-Class was introduced for the 2017 model year.

2015: New E400 with turbocharged V6 engine and some minor equipment shuffling.

2016: Hybrid model discontinued, along with the E63 AMG model.

2017: Fully resigned with new interior, exterior, technology, and engine choices for the sedan and wagon models.

2018: Coupe and Convertible fully redesigned, AMG E63 S sedan and wagon introduced, more standard features on E300 sedan and wagon.

2019: New steering wheel, E450 model introduced to replace E400, new AMG E53 with six-cylinder and mild-hybrid system

2020: More standard safety features, E350 replaces the entry-level E300.

2021: Minor exterior styling changes, MBUX infotainment system introduced, E450 wagon renamed to All-Terrain.

How Does the Mercedes E-Class Compare to the Competition?

The 2017 Mercedes E-Class sets the standard for what a midsize luxury sedan should offer, although you do trade in some long-term reliability for the upscale cabin and advanced technology.

The BMW 5 Series is another midsize sedan which costs around $2,000 more. Performance is better in the BMW 5 Series, while the Mercedes E-Class offers a more luxurious interior. We recommend the Mercedes E-Class since the ownership costs are similar, but the E-Class is more comfortable.

The Audi A6 is a popular sedan which is available for around $1,500 less. The standard all-wheel drive system on the Audi A6 is better in the snow, while the Mercedes E-Class offers better interior materials. We recommend the Mercedes E-Class, although both are very similar luxury sedans.

I love the dash video screen with the mouse and it has great economy features.
I already had to replace the serpentine belt it was under warranty so mercedes-benz covered the cost of the work. The pulley that connected the alternator to the belt was off and has to be replaced also. The interior finishes that are metallic are peeling in the center console.

The Mercedes Benz is a luxury car & amazing. I definitely recommend buying this car.
It is a nice car! When your car is in drive & one of your doors are open the car will not take off unless the doors are all the way closed. The only problem I have is my tires, every time I put air in them, three days later my tire pressure is at 28 or lower. Other than that little problem, I totally recommend buying a mercedes-benz.

Very nice car definitely I'm enjoying driving this car
On the road, however, the Cadillac CTS-V impressed with its handling but its transmission and interior were its weak points because the eight-speed wasn't as quick as the new nine-speed unit in the Mercedes-AMG E63 S and the quality of the cabin isn't up to par with the Mercedes. The Mercedes, on the other hand, impressed with its explosive acceleration and handling that eviscerates the road with brute force. However, its brakes aren't consistent, which means it's not as confidence-inspiring as the Cadillac.

Mercedes Benz is the King of the Road
Performance is excellent with the Mercedes Benz e300. The inside cabin is so quiet that's it's a pleasure to drive in! The exterior & interior are simply beautiful. My only complaint is that the performance tires are sensitive. They do give you 50 miles to continue driving even when the tire is ruined but they are quite expensive to replace. But Mercedes is one of the best luxury cars on the road!

Mercedes, the best or nothing!
There is nothing about my vehicle that I do not like. It is reliable and very comfortable with seats that hug you. It has all the latest technology and features. It is one of the best vehicles I have ever owned. I would recommend the Mercedes e300 to anyone!

Really cool mouse like feature to control the TV monitor.
I love the car. It is good on gas handles well and is great for running errands as well as highway driving. The car has 4 wheel drive which is nice and necessary for New England winters and bad rain storms that are common in this area. I love the way the lighting on the interior can change colors and that the dash screen is very wide.

Monogram mbz when you open the door.
The car is very comfortable and great for a family. It is a smooth drive as well and can fit car seats comfortably. I would recommend this car to anyone looking for a luxury SUV. This is the former m class and done much better than the m class. One of the unique features is the monogram when you open the door.

Only agile people can easily access the back seat. Trunk space is limiting
Handles well on curves, have had no problems, extremely comfortable, love the convertible top and the color is gorgeous

A comfortable and reliable sedan for the any family.
I love the e-class because of the drive experience. It is especially reliable in the rain. It is like driving on dry ground. I have been driving the same model in different colors for like 12 years. I like everything about it performance, reliability, comfort and features.

E class 300 - luxurious comfort.
E class is luxuriously comfortable with stunning exterior design. Drives so smoothly and quiet when driving. Also is reliable and feels it has good safety measures. It has lots of space in the front seating area along with spacious backseat areas. I have not had any issues. It has luxurious interior with high tech systems which makes such a joy to drive.

Amazing sound and navigation!
Absolutely love this car! I think that my favorite feature is the stereo system. The sound that comes from this car is incredible. I also love that you can customize the vehicle. . . Down to the way it drives! It is insane! On top of all of that, there are multiple ways to different "touchpads" to control all of these functions. Overall great vehicle.

The luxury performance competes with the best of them.
I love the complete package. The handling and all the amenities. I have owned a Mercedes for more than 12 years now and this is the car for me. I feel it represents me very well.

2017 Mercedes E 350 Sport
Mercedes E350 Sport drives like a dream. No problems to report and it is very reliable. Very comfortable and love double USB ports. Pickup is great. It is easy to be doing 100 and not even realize it. Leather seats are quite comfortable. We will always buy Mercedes.

It drives smooth and it's comfortable.
I love the features. My favorite are the auto high beams, the blind side indicator and the heated massaging seats. The only downside is i have difficulty when it rains. It makes the sensors go crazy.
