Editor's Overview

The Scion tC is one of the brand's most successful models, accounting for 40 percent of all Scion sales since the company's inception. Credit a combination of price, styling, entertainment features, plus a wide range of custom add-ons for the Scion tC's loyal following that's less concerned with speed and power than with fun and functionality.

2015 scion tic 6-speed manual transmission.

It is a 2 door hatchback with cargo area which is actually quite roomy. The bank seats also fold down for added space. Has a 6 speed manual transmission, with good power, and easy handling. I do not like that the two rear side windows are difficult to see out of when backing up. It also has a sunroof in the front and a moonroof in the back seats, added to the hatchback window there is plenty of light let in. It gets a combined average of 26 to 28 miles per gallon on gas. I consider this pretty reasonable considering it is kind of a sporty car. Airbag system includes front driver and passenger impact airbags, knee, driver and passenger side air bags, overhead airbags as well in 1st and 2nd row. Comes standard equipped with 4 wheel disc brakes, traction control (which comes in handy on gravel, water, snow, etc. ) 4 wheel abs system, brake assist, immobilizer, remote keyless entry, panic button, 18" wheels, front anti-roll bar, steel spare wheel, turn signal indicator mirrors which also fold in, front and rear cupholders, full floor console, 12v dc power adapters, touch screen radio/cd player with Bluetooth and auxiliary, lock glove box. Many more great features.

I like my vehicle because it is small and great for commuting. I dislike that it has blind spots and that the temperature gauge is part of the mileage counter screen and you have to click the odometer button multiple times to see the temp. I love the color of my car and how it drives. I'm happy that it has bluetooth.

I haven't had any problems with the car, it is everything I expected. It runs great and is a very cute car. It is compact, but has a ton of storage space, especially when you put the back seats down. It is only a 2 door, but even when I have 5 people in the car everyone has enough room.

Safety Recalls (3)

Suspension > Rear Apr 16, 2015
Report Receipt Date:
Apr 16, 2015
NHTSA Campaign:
15V228000
Summary:
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2015 Toyota Scion tC vehicles manufactured December 3, 2014, to January 30, 2015 and equipped with accessory coil springs as part of an optional Release Series 9 trim package. During installation of these coil springs, the rear suspension components may not have been properly tightened.
Consequence:
If the rear suspension components were not properly tightened, the rear suspension arms may detach, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy:
Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the bolts, nuts, rear suspension arms, and rear suspension member sub assembly, free of charge. The recall began on June 12, 2015. Owners may contact Scion customer service at 1-866-707-2466.

Equipment > Other > Labels Jun 8, 2016
Report Receipt Date:
Jun 8, 2016
NHTSA Campaign:
16V420000
Summary:
Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain model year 2016 Toyota Camry and Highlander, 2015-2016 Toyota Tundra, Scion FR-S, and tC vehicles. The Load Carrying Capacity Modification Label may not reflect the correct added weight of the installed accessories. As a result, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims for Passenger Cars."
Consequence:
An incorrect label may lead an owner to overload the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy:
SET will notify owners, and provide a corrected label for placement over the inaccurate label, free of charge. The recall began on July 14, 2016. Owners may contact SET customer service at 1-866-405-4226.

Service Brakes, Hydraulic Sep 19, 2018
Report Receipt Date:
Sep 19, 2018
NHTSA Campaign:
18E091000
Summary:
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain Toyota Racing Development (TRD) brake kits, part numbers PTR09-21111 and PTR09-52080, sold by Toyota as an optional accessory for model year 2008-2015 Scion xB, and 2011-2016 Scion tC vehicles. Over time, the brake hoses in these kits may fatigue and fail.
Consequence:
Failure of a brake hose will reduce braking performance and increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy:
Toyota will notify all known owners of the Scion xB and Scion tC vehicles upon which an involved optional TRD Brake Kit could have been installed. If the vehicle is equipped with one of the TRD brake kits, it will be replaced with a standard equipment brake kit, free of charge. The recall began November 16, 2018. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371. Toyota's number for this recall is J0U.
