The engine is reliable enough that it still has a lot of power 140,000 miles in.

I enjoy the fact that it is a great all-around vehicle. I purchased it when I was young because it's somewhat of a fast car. I got my enjoyment out of it in when I was younger and it still is able to get me to work safely 11 years later. I have always heard Volkswagen to be a reliable brand, and I believe it!

It's built to perform, but is gentle as can be if you keep your foot out of it.

Volkswagen make a perfect vehicle. Fun to drive. Easy to work on and plenty of aftermarket parts available to improve performance and handling.

It is a small compact car but is also very versatile.

Its small and compact. While also being spacious in the inside where I can fit whatever I need. Also I can park in most spots.

Performance is great, reliable. Cons are that parts mostly come from Europe. Uses expensive gas, after 10 years some problems started to show up, such as motor problems and brakes problems. Seats are still really comfortable and feeling changing gears is great for an automatic car.

For a little car it has a full capacity trunk which handles a full shopping.

Aside from the way my car looks it is the easiest car I have ever driven. It has plenty of pep to keep up in traffic and also smoothly putters around town. I use my car to drive lyft and easily fit 4 people in it. The sound system is great with a 6 CD changer. I cannot wait to see how it handles in snow.

A luxurious and sporty ride.

I love the interior of my car. The leather seats are heated, it has power windows and a sun/moonroof, and the hatchback rear door with fold-down back seats makes it possible to maximize carrying luggage and/or large items. The best part about the gti is the fast acceleration speed and sensitive responsiveness to the driver. I have a 6-speed manual transmission and enjoy driving at fast speeds on the highway while getting 25-30 mpg.

The GTI is fun to drive, but the back seat isn't ideal for parents of small children.

I love driving the GTI as it's a smooth ride with a nice shift, easy clutch, and great turbo. The hatchback is excellent for grocery shopping. The downsides including extremely difficult-to-change headlights and a back seat with little leg room. The latter issue comes into play when, like me, you have two kids who like to kick the seat in front of them.

It's a fairly lightweight car, so it's doesn't have very good traction in snow and ice.

It's compact, I love that I can park virtually anywhere. It's fairly lightweight, so it's not good in the snow. It's been a dependable car, with no major issues.

Great car to drive around but expensive to fix.

My gate drives like a dream. People say it drives like an adult sized go cart. It is very easy and comfortable to drive and the interior has nice features. It is very expensive to fix and has had a few problems with the exhaust and other mechanical problems.

The car handles well, is fuel efficient, is reliable - low maintenance, and lots of fun to drive. It is designed for fun and good handling. I have had mine for 13 years and she runs like the day I bought her.

I really have no cons for this vehicle - it is the best car I have ever owned. There is nothing that has gone wrong. Even after 13 years I still am on the original clutch. I seriously have thought long and hard and I cannot think of one con.
