Volkswagen golf 2009, solid performance.
Superb quality of manufacture. Excellent handling, steering and suspension with more power and acceleration than you could possibly need. Seating position and real visibility are outstanding. Mechanically well above average, reliability is nearly 100%.

2009 Vw GTI, 4 cylinder w/ turbo, 180 horsepower, Great gas mileage, very affordable
I have a 2009 vw gti 2 door hatchback. Its a 4 cylinder with a turbo that pushes about 180 horsepower to the front wheels. It also has a dsg 6 speed transmission which brings this car to life on takeoff. I can drive it in regular automatic which is pretty quick or i can shift to sports mode which increases the rpm between shifts plus i have paddle shifters on my steering wheel for that true sports car feel. Overall i love this car and i would recommend it to anyone

Great zippy everyday driver.
The Volkswagen gti is a great everyday driver. It gets decent gas mileage on both the highway and in the city. Although it is small and compact it still has enough room on the inside to fit 4 passengers comfortably. Overall the gti is a great vehicle.

It is a manual transmission which gives you more control when driving.
I like that it is a sporty car and it is fun to drive. It has some issues starting. It has some leaking in the engine as well.

The GTI is fast and comfortable, small, and very easy to control.
The GTI is very reliable and gives a very good performance. It is very comfortable and compact so you don't have to worry about a bulky vehicle. My GTI does have issues with the exhaust, but other than that it is in top shape.

It is one of the first cars I purchased with my own money and that It is good for fun drives and getting groceries.
I like the fit and finish of the interior. I like the hatch back look of it. I love the engine and handling on the street. I don't like the cost to maintain it, like replacement parts and technician costs.

Pros from Owners

likeFilled Thomas P.

It has excellent handling and good power for a small hatchback. I have had recurring problems with the ignition coils. They are easy and cheap to replace but unfortunately fail in inconvenient places and often unexpectedly.

likeFilled Thomas P.

It's a sporty vehicle that handles very well, has lots of pep and fits into parking and city driver. It is decent on gas mileage, though not great and has good storage for a small hatchback. The car is very comfortable with features such as heated seats.

Cons from Owners

dislikeFilled Thomas P.

I put it in the last box. I have had recurring issues with the ignition coils. I have had a number of other things replaced that were supposed to solve the problem but the problem re-emerges every 10 months or so, which is way too often.

dislikeFilled Thomas P.

It is small and for a car that small it does not get excellent gas mileage - a sacrifice for the added horsepower. It is old and lots of the newer features are lacking - such as the ability to plug in my phone. The ignition coils have been a recurring problem and I have had to replace them too often, resulting in numerous towns.
