There were a total of five different engines used on the 2018 Volkswagen Jetta, depending on Your chosen configuration. They come in three sizes, and each of the "duplicates" share the same oil. The 1.4 liter turbocharged 4Cylinder needS4.2 quarts of SAE 5W-40 synthetic motor oil (European blend is recommended). The 1.8 liter and 2.0 liter 4Cylinder turbocharged variants each require 5.8 quarts of the same. In each case, You may substitute SAE 10W-40 over the short term, but only when absolutely necessary. The substitution is recommended against, since using an oil with a higher viscosity than recommended introduces undue friction to the engine. Over time, this causes extra wear and tear, and can eventually lead to an early engine failure. With that said, You'll want to stick with the SAE 5W-40 whenever possible.

The oil type for the 2018 Volkswagen Jetta is a synthetic oil, SAE 5W-40. The oil capacity for the 1.4L 4 cylinder engine is 4.2 quarts, 1.8L 4 cylinder and 2.0L 4-cylinder is 5.8 quarts.
