The Dodge Ram 1500 with A4.7 liter V8 engine has a maximum towing capacity of around 7,650 pounds. This is factoring in the gross combined weight rating minus the curb weight and potential passenger weights. This is more than the average driver will need, considering the average camper or boat weighs less than 5000 lb. The 4.7 liter is a fairly powerful engine that can make 310 horsepower along witH330 pound-feet of torque. It lacks when it comes to fuel economy, only getting 13 MPG city and 17 MPG highway. But when You hook a camper or boat to the bumper, You're probably not too concerned with fuel efficiency, just knowing You have the power to make it up the steepest hills.
