The recommended oil type on the 2017 Ford Mustang is Motorcraft® SAE 5W-30 Premium Synthetic Blend Motor Oil. If You live in an area where the temperature goes below -22 F, then You should use SAE 0W-30. If You're also curious about what the capacity is on Your vehicle then it iS6 US quarts with an oil filter. The purpose of engine oil is to of course lubricate Your engine and reduce wear and tear. Another benefit is that it reduces friction which in the end elongates the life of its components. If You want my advice, check the oil level either once a week or once a month so that You don't risk running Your car with a low oil level.

Each engine has unique requirements regarding oil type. The base Mustang with a V6 needs 5W-20, so does the V8. But, the EcoBoost needs synthetic blend 5W-30.Oil viscosity makes a very big difference in engine performance. The wrong type of oil can very easily and quickly ruin an engine.
