There are a several issues that could cause the 2012 Ram 1500 Pickup truck to crank but not start. An issue with the ignition system could cause a lack of spark. A bad crank position sensor, bad spark p[lugs or faulty wiring are all a possibility. Timing is another thing to consider if the engine fails to start even though it cranks over. When the timing is off, the synC-HRonization of fuel delivery and spark will be off and the engine cant start. Clogged fuel injectors might not be spraying enough fuel into the cylinders to turn the engine over. Fuel pump failure wont allow the gas to reach the engine and will not start. There are a few relays in the engine compartment power distribution box that could cause this situation too.

My 2012 cranks this morning but wont start. How can it crank if the battery is bad?

When the 2012 dodge ram 1500 cranks but won't start, it's usually battery issue, the alternator, or the starter.

If it cranks the battery is fine. Check fuses/relays related to ignition and fuel pump.

First off if an engine cranks it's not the battery that would be an engine won't crank problem if the engine cranks but doesn't start then we're looking at fuel or Spark these particular Dodges have an internal fuel pump relay that fails inside the tipm module there's a bunch of unsafe jumper wires being sold on the internet don't buy them by the legal proper bypass kit and follow Dodges service bulletin on how to install it it takes a little bit of skill or you can buy a rebuilt tipm module or a used one but watch out for anybody that has installed a jumper wire in the fuel pump circuit on the used part I have that happen to me once when I bought a used one junkyard didn't catch it and then burned me on the part do not buy the stuff on the internet they cause the fuel pump to be on all the time when you turn the key on which is unsafe in an accident if you get in a crash and your engine dies and a fuel line ruptures and the key is left on your fuel pump will be feeding the fire people that sell that kind of stuff don't have any moral values or they are ignorant onto the situation they're causing fuel pumps are wired to key on computer control Power for roughly two or three seconds and then it takes over by either oil pressure or alternator current so that when the engine dies the fuel pump is deactivated

If the battery is dead the vehicle will not crank over at all if it cranks and not start it's either an ignition problem or a fuel problem

If the 2012 dodge ram 1500 cranks but wont start then you have a dead battery or a bad ignition switch. You may also have dead spark plugs.
