The 2019 Chevrolet Suburban lasts around 250,000 miles with some minor exhaust leaks and paint issues reported. At $42,850 to $63,250, it’s expensive, but worth the money for a dependable full size SUV with enough room for a lot of people and all of their gear.

Best part of the suburban.
I just love everything about it, I really do love the safety features. When it vibrates and the safety light comes on it fantastic I also love the backup camera. I feel like over all the car is very roomy and drives nice. The kids love that 2 rows with TVs.

Chevrolet suburban great family vehicle.
My suburban has been very reliable. It performs the way I would expect it to perform. The ride is smooth. I do not hear much road noise while I am driving. The interior is very comfortable and does not resemble a 'truck-like' interior. It is definitely more luxurious. I am not a big fan of the center console as it is so big and sometimes it is difficult to hand things back to the passenger row from the front passenger seat, but it is still doable. This is a great family car. It holds 6 people, plus it still has storage in the back. We use it to trailer our boat to and from the lake. It has the needed horsepower to perform this task easily.

Heated seats on cold winter days and cool ac system it has.
I love my suburban! Really reliable! Fits my family of 6 very well. With heated seats, air vents directed towards my children on hot summer days especially my 2 month old. The hatch fits my groceries and my stroller also fits extra storage too. Also love the alerts it gives when a vehicle is on your blind spots.

I love my Chevy suburban!
This truck has great gas mileage, spacious interior, an awesome Bose sound system. It is exactly what my family needs. OnStar and SiriusXM available. Great music channels but I mainly use it for listening to football and basketball if I have to drive while a game is on.

2019 suburban is top notch and tough to beat in this vehicle class.
Very roomy. Easy to drive despite the size, with a smooth ride despite being on a truck chassis. Has a high tow capacity as well which allows us to tow our travel trailer when we go camping. Good gas mileage despite the size of the vehicle. Love the suburban.

Amazing for a family of 6 plus a great Dane! Our family is able to accommodate our boys who play travel hockey, carrying all gear comfortably. I love the heated and cooling seat option. The sunroof is a must during warmer months. Our four kids also love watching movies on road trips!

Backup camera and heated seats.
The Chevrolet suburban is just right for my family. It has plenty of legroom. The only thing I wish I had was a bench seat in the middle instead of captain's chairs. I have 5 grandsons and the bench seat would be helpful. The heated and air conditioned seats as well as the heated steering wheel are also a big plus!

Great vehicle, awesome off road lots of tech.
It is a great car can tow 7,000 + pounds lots of space. All the tech you could imagine 3 DVD players, 6 Bose speakers, touch screen, z71 off road package, with a skid plate. It has a 5.3 v8 plenty of power, when you step on the gas the powers there, very comfortable on the road.

A good car! Would recommend.
It is a good, reliable car. I do recommend it because it definitely gets the job done and can be useful in many situations. This car does not have and problems that disturb my use of it and I do not believe there would be any major problems for anybody else. This car has worked for me for a while and I appreciate it because it is very good.

What Do Critics Say About the Chevy Suburban?

  • Consumer Reports says the 2019 Chevy Suburban is the quintessential large SUV offering enough room for passengers and cargo, with good owner satisfaction scores.
  • Edmunds rates the Suburban at 4/5, enjoying the outstanding room for up to nine passengers, but doesn’t like the difficulty maneuvering in tight spaces.
  • Kelley Blue Book users give the 2019 Suburban a 4.2/5, praising the extremely high towing capacity at 8,400 pounds, but owners don’t like the low fuel economy.

What Common Problems Does the 2019 Chevrolet Suburban Have?

Common problems found on the 2019 Chevrolet Suburban include exhaust fumes in the cabin, peeling and flaking paint, along with slow gear changes from the transmission. Overall, these problems are similar to some other full size SUVs on the market, leading to average repair costs as a Suburban ages.

Exhaust fumes in the cabin are the most widespread complaint found on the 2019 Chevy Suburban, showing up within the first 1,000 miles. Usually, the problem is caused by a loose connection on the exhaust where it attaches to the headers. Most dealerships will fix the problem for free under warranty on such a new SUV. If the problem shows up out of warranty then it’s around $100 to fix.

Peeling and flaking paint is another issue mentioned by some 2019 Suburban owners at roughly 30,000 miles. The roof and hood are very large flat panels, which may suffer from clear-coat failure if they are not properly cared for. The only way to fix peeling paint is by repainting the areas at a cost of around $1,000 per panel.

Slow gear changes from the transmission have also been reported on the 2019 Suburban within the first 5,000 miles. There are transmission control module software updates available which improve the performance. Most dealerships will install these updates during normal servicing for free, while others charge around $100 for labor.

There are two recalls on the 2019 Chevrolet Suburban, which is better than many other full-size SUVs on the market. The first recall is for the rear seat belt retractor which may not lock, and the second is for a software error which can cause unintended braking. Chevrolet will replace the seat belt retractor, and update the braking system software on affected models for free.

How Long Will the 2019 Chevrolet Suburban Last?

A well-maintained 2019 Chevrolet Suburban can last around 250,000 miles, which is only slightly shorter than the long-lasting Toyota Sequoia. Regular annual maintenance costs are slightly more expensive than some other large SUVs, according to data provided by Repair Pal, at $914 per year.

As a used 2019 Suburban reaches 100,000 miles, and depending on the vehicle history, owners should be prepared to replace the engine oil cooler line for $300, transmission cooler assembly costing $550, along with the timing chain tensioner which is around $1,200.

How Is the Technology?

There are some decent standard safety features, including:

  • Rear parking sensors
  • Rearview camera

Optional driver assistance features include:

  • Forward collision warning
  • Lane departure warning
  • Automatic high-beam headlights
  • Front parking sensors
  • Rear cross traffic alert
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Lane keep assist
  • Safety alert seat
  • Blind spot monitoring
  • Head-up display

Is the 2019 Chevrolet Suburban a Good Value?

Yes, the 2019 Chevy Suburban is a good value since it offers strong V8 engine choices along with more passenger room than other large SUVs on the market. The blue book fair purchase price ranges from $42,850 to $63,250, making it more than a Chevy Traverse or Dodge Durango. When new, the price range was $50,800 to $68,500. Depreciation is better than many other SUVs, only losing about 6% of its current value per year.

With this setup, the Suburban boasts a towing capacity of up to 8,300 pounds. Regarding acceleration, the 5.3L V8 allows the SUV to sprint from 0-60 mph in around 7.2 seconds.
  • 6.2L V8 Engine: This more potent engine, available in the RST Performance Package, cranks out 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft of torque. It comes with a ten-speed automatic transmission, resulting in a combined fuel economy of 17 MPG. With this engine, the towing capacity gets a slight bump up to 8,400 pounds. When it comes to 0-60 mph times, the 6.2L V8 propels the Suburban there in a brisk 6.2 seconds, showcasing its superior performance attributes.

What Colors Does the Chevy Suburban Come In?

How Comfortable Is the Chevy Suburban?

The 2019 Chevy Suburban stands out in the full-size SUV segment, offering a compelling blend of comfort and utility. Its spacious interior guarantees that passengers across all three rows have ample legroom and headroom, making it especially suitable for long road trips. The front seats, typically equipped with power adjustments, provide both the driver and front passenger with personalized seating configurations, providing optimal comfort.

Higher trims, like the Premier, take luxury up a notch with features such as heated and ventilated seats, leather upholstery, and a premium audio system, which further enhance the riding experience. The Suburban’s suspension is also designed to absorb most road imperfections, offering a smooth and composed ride even on less-than-ideal road conditions. Additionally, with its quiet cabin, road and wind noise are effectively muted, allowing passengers to converse easily or enjoy their music without undue interference. While its sheer size might make it a tad challenging to maneuver in tight spaces, from a comfort standpoint, the 2019 Chevy Suburban stands out as a top pick for those prioritizing passenger comfort in a large SUV.

How Much Storage Space Does the Chevy Suburban Have?

The 2019 Chevy Suburban is a versatile full-size SUV known for its vast storage capacities. With all three rows of seating in place, the Suburban provides about 39.3 cubic feet of cargo space. When the third-row seats are folded down, this space expands to 76.7 cubic feet. For maximum storage, folding down both the second and third rows will yield a generous 121.7 cubic feet of cargo room. To put this into perspective, with all seats up, there’s enough room to fit a weekend’s worth of luggage for a large family.

When the third row is down, you can easily accommodate larger items like bicycles or a decent load of home improvement supplies. With both back rows folded, the Suburban’s expensive cargo space can comfortably house furniture pieces, such as a full-size couch or several large moving boxes. Whether you’re planning a long road trip, carrying sports equipment, or tackling a home renovation project, the 2019 Chevy Suburban is well-equipped to handle your storage needs.

What Are the Differences Between Years?

The 11th generation of the Chevy Suburban was introduced for the 2015 model year.

2015: Fully redesigned for the 11th generation with upgraded interior materials, a quieter cabin, and fold-flat third row seat.

2016: Larger 8-inch touchscreen is now standard on all models and has Apple CarPlay, driver alert package also now available.

2017: Flagship model renamed to Premier, and there are now more standard safety features including automatic emergency braking.

2018: No changes from the older 2017 model.

2019: New RST Performance Edition added with a larger 6.2L V8 engine.

2020: Small changes to the available features, more technology added to the 6.2L Performance Package.

2021: Fully redesigned for the 12th generation with new technology, engines, and exterior styling.

How Does the Chevy Suburban Compare to the Competition?

The 2019 Chevrolet Suburban is a great full size SUV if you’re looking for a practical choice which can fit a lot of people and all of their cargo, which helps it earn our recommendation.

The Chevy Tahoe is another large SUV which can be found for around $1,500 less. Both the Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban are very similar to each other, but the Suburban has a longer wheelbase, and offers more passenger room. We recommend the Chevy Tahoe for most shoppers since it’s easier to fit in garages, unless you need the extra space found in the Suburban.

The Ford Expedition is a competitor available in the same price range. Where the Ford Expedition stands out is with a more efficient engine, but the Chevrolet Suburban has lower long-term ownership costs. We recommend the Chevy Suburban since it’s stronger and has fewer complaints from owners.

The vehicle is very family friendly. It is very spacious and is a smooth ride. It gets better gas mileage than we expected especially with driving primarily in town rather than highway mileage. The 2019 Chevy suburban is a good large SUV with more cargo space.
The 2019 Chevy suburban has a serene ride, opulent cabin, massive cargo space, but very hard to maneuver in small areas, (tight parking spaces and roadways.). It has a new 6.2 liter v8 engine and 10-speed automatic transmission option. This truck has 355-420 horsepower, and rwd/4wd. It seats 7-8 people comfortably, uses 20-23 gallons highway of gas, and 14-15 gallons city. The car is definitely worth it if you have large . Family, and the price of this particular model is also worth it, ($65,000 msrp)- it is classy with a lot of new features the older suburbans and other modeled SUV's, do not have to say the least. The ride is smooth as velvet, with 8 inch touchscreen, bluetooth, Wi-Fi hotspot, apple carplay, android auto, 5 usb ports, wireless charging devices, 9-10 speaker premium Bose system, and rear seat entertainment options available.. You can definitely ride in style.

Great SUV for a large family!
I love my suburban. The design is sleek and wraps around you like a hug. The room is amazing in it. We fit our German Shepherd and three teenage children in it with all our luggage. The hands free liftgate is so handy. Tons of storage room for all things. Plenty of USB adapters and a plug in. The gas mileage was a surprising plus. We drive an hour and half to the lake on the weekends and it gets better gas mileage than a Toyota 4Runner. The start button on the keybob is great during the Winter. My only wish is that the seats had a cooling feature and the steering wheel was heated. The back up camera and guide come in handy parking a big vehicle. When I am a passenger the seat is so comfortable. My kids never complain about being uncomfortable in this vehicle.

The best family car for day to day and long road trips.
Having two young children as well as two dogs this is the perfect car for our family to make beach trips, travel to other states to visit family and do our day to day shopping. Everyone has room, can control their air and charge electronics. It also gives us room for visiting family so we don't have to take two cars.

I love my Chevy suburban!
This truck has great gas mileage, spacious interior, an awesome Bose sound system. It is exactly what my family needs. OnStar and SiriusXM available. Great music channels but I mainly use it for listening to football and basketball if I have to drive while a game is on.

Apple CarPlay that is connected through Bluetooth to your phone.
I have a all black leather interior/carpet. Automatic windows, seats, and full a/c & heated seats and central air. It comes with third row seating with second seat bucket seats. Four DVD players installed in all the headrests first each child to have their own. My suburban if fully functional with Wi-Fi, OnStar, and XM radio. It has a feature for apple carplay that bluetooths to your phone for pandas, navigation to maps, and surround sound voice texting and hands free calling. It is a smooth ride and gets 20 gallons per mile.

Suburban is a great vehicles for families.
Rides well. It is reliable, has lots of room. We have 4 children and have plenty of room for us and cargo room. The GPS system is not user friendly or accurate. The heated cooling seats are excellent, also the heated steering wheel. The duel DVD player is user friendly. The opening of the hatch being hands free is also conceive the.

GPS camera backup system that hooks up to my iPhone.
Love the color and the GPS system - I love all the room and the automatic window washers and lights. I love the back up camera and speed - I like the side rails to get up into the SUV and trunk space - I like that I can control a lot o things through the steering wheel.

The 2019 is spectacular and worth the upgrade.
I absolutely love my suburban. I had a 2008 and recently upgraded to a 2019. I love the extra storage bins that they've added. The controls for the rear are easy and helpful. We have 2 DVD screens which my kids love and will come in handy for road trips. I like all of the new updated technology features. The premier is luxe and comfortable. The one negative I have found so far is that the trunk is angled down some so things tend to roll down and have fallen out when I open the trunk door, so I put the cargo net up to help with that. I am proud to drive it. If you have to haul a lot of kids or cargo, the suburban is perfect with the 3 rows, the large trunk and the third rows seats fold flat.

Best part of the suburban.
I just love everything about it, I really do love the safety features. When it vibrates and the safety light comes on it fantastic I also love the backup camera. I feel like over all the car is very roomy and drives nice. The kids love that 2 rows with TVs.

2019 Chevy suburban is the best vehicle.
It is very reliable and has great gas mileage for a large SUV. It can fit many people and store stuff at the same time. It runs very smoothly. I would recommend to anyone with a big family or someone who needs a lot of storage in their car. I give it a 10/10.

The 2019 Chevy suburban is a great family car.
It drives very smoothly. It is very comfortable and adjustable. It is a great family vehicle. It also has a very sleek look. The gas tank is large so it does not need filled as often as other vehicles. The hatchback opens and closes on the remote as well as the front. The middle and back seats fold down so you haul anything you needed to.

Best vehicle I have ever owned, hands down!
I absolutely love my suburban! It is so spacious and comfortable! It has much room the possibilities are endless when traveling. Definitely 10/10 recommend! It rides like a dream and it does not feel like you are driving as big of a vehicle as it is. And it is great for families!

Great overall very minor issues.
I have only had two issues with. One I have problems with the key fob sometimes it does not work consistently & I have to get super close to the car for it to work. Two, the paint is messed up in some spots resulting in peeling and chipping in about 5 spots around the vehicle.

All the space and seating you could need!
I have 5 children and need cargo space on top of that so a suburban was a must ! We chose a basic trim package. We absolutely love it, remote start in the brutal Oklahoma summer heat is awesome ! I don't really use the backup camera at all. The Bluetooth music off my phone is a great feature

I love the versatility of my Suburban, I lay all the seats down for extra space.
I love my car. The seats are very comfortable and the perfect size. The car just feels right. Once I got into it for the first time I knew it was the one! It is the perfect size for me and I love it's sturdiness and reliability. This is the first time that I've tried Chevy but I'm definitely considering sticking with them for a while. I've heard that they've been making their cars better and better each year and I'm really impressed with how well mine drives. Even though it was a little pricey it was definitely worth every penny! 10/10 I would definitely recommend.

Amazing seating capacity and cargo space. Perfect for growing, active families.
I haven't had any problems. It comfortably fits 5 five points harness car seats and leaves the 6th seat with plenty of room. It has tons of cargo space with the fold down seating. My kids have plenty of charging capabilities in the back rows. Some of my favorite features include the automatic wipers that come on when they detect rain and adjust to the appropriate speed automatically and the alerts when there is a car in your blind spot or you drift lanes. I also appreciate the reminder to check the backseat if it notices you opened the backdoor. This car gives us peace of mind when transporting our kids and their friends.

Suburban is comfy, safe and beautiful with tons of features.
Super comfortable and great for road trips, has plenty of room for my family and all of our gear. Chevys have always been very reliable for our family. It gets good gas mileage and the extra features like back up camera make it extra safe. Seats are very comfortable for our back issues, they have lumbar options.
