The 2020 Dodge Durango lasts around 200,000 miles, with some minor headlight and paint chip issues reported. At $26,750 to $59,998, it’s a great value for a full-size SUV with plenty of room for passengers and low running costs.

likeFilled The Good
It has a high towing capacity for an SUV, there’s a ton of passenger room and the infotainment system is easy to use.
dislikeFilled The Bad
The steering is loose for an SUV, the base engine is fairly weak for the SUV’s size and there are some cheap plastic parts on the dash.

Is the 2020 Dodge Durango a Good Used SUV?

  • Overall Rating 8/10 – 2020 is a good year for the Dodge Durango since it has some powerful engines and a lot of entertainment features. Owner reviews praise the passenger room, smooth suspension, along with the reasonable ownership costs as it ages.

Best purchase I have ever made.
My experience buying my dodge was awesome they took such great care of my concerns and helped add on exactly what I wanted the car drives likes dream I wish had bought this one year ago. I would absolutely buy another dodge from the dealer the only thing I would have liked is if the windows came pre rented I had to do that on my own but that was the only extra expense I had to spend to get the car the way wanted it to be the dealer have two free car washes and two oil changes which I was pleasantly surprised over. I told my sister about how great they were she decided to buy a SUV from them and she was also very happy with her experience with the deal and SUV performance we are now a dodge family for the foreseeable future. I may purchase another dodge in the next few years my son will be 18 and that would be a safe first car for him to start his college life with.

My experience in my new dodge Durango.
I recently put a down payment on the vehicle a couple months ago. So far I love the vehicle and have not had even the slightest issue out of it. Its my favorite color a royal blue with black trim and chrome rims. It's good on gas for such a large vehicle also and I have been impressed with the overall performance of the car in general.

2020 dodge Durango is amazing, show stopping and fantastic!!
Leather interior with seating heating and steering wheel heating. 6 seats with adjustable headrest. No blind spots. Great backup camera. It also has a decent sized cargo space if you put the back 2 seats down. Speedometer is digital which is more efficient.

Built like a tank but drives like a stealth fighter.
Love the bucket seats in the back. A comfortable ride all the way to the beach. Love the black rims. Great sound system. Smooth drive and great pick up speed on the highway. Excellent rear camera and blind side detection. Nice and big car that feels very safe for our 2 young children to ride in.

Love this truck-highly recommend.
No real problems. My steering wheel stitching has opened up slightly, but that is it. Overall, I love this truck. It is very roomy, has great pickup, and is smooth to drive as well as great for a family. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone who is interested in a new car and for the size, is a reasonable price.

Amazing vehicle especially if you have kids.
I absolutely love my Durango! We made the choice to purchase a Durango after our son was born because it provide us with the extra space and reliability that having a child requires. I love that it has third row seating giving us the extra space to be able to take family or friends with us and not have to worry about them being squished in the back by a car seat. Also I am very uncomfortable changing my son's diaper in a public restroom unless I absolutely have to so I really like that there is so much space for me to be able to just change him in the care without struggle. During the summer having air vents throughout the back of the vehicle on the ceiling is amazing considering it very easily tops out at 116 degrees where I live during the day so it puts me more at ease knowing my son is getting adequate air flow even with him still being rear facing.

Dodge Durango sharp looking car with black rims.
Love the memory seats and second row heated seats. Love you can program the turbo on or off. I also like that it has third row and that it is very leg roomy. I love the white trim with black rims. It is very sharp looking. Gas is pretty decent. Love all to technological programming such as carplay.

Good car, needs more ergo features, and more luxury, along with convenience.
The Durango is a pretty good vehicle, but it fails to perform in convenience area. I would prefer more ergonomic features, and more luxury. I think the power is great, and adequate. The best thing they could do is to add better controls. Better lighting would also be appreciated.

Sleek vehicle, scary ride.
I like the way my car looks, it is sleek and a solid looking vehicle. My transmission has already gone out so it makes me not trust the car as much. The company did replace it, but it was an ordeal and the car shifts weird ever since. The seats are comfortable and the technology is easy to use. I love the features like smart phone connection and heated steering wheel that automatically comes on if it is 30 degrees or lower.

Meh. It is okay. Not excited to own it. Would not purchase again.
Okay. Cheap trim. Uncomfortable. I bought it thinking that it would be great for us and our 2 kids. However, it is uncomfortable, the seats do not hold up well, and the suspension is rigid. Would not buy again. It has been dependable so far, but I have heard other reports of issues.

What Do Critics Say About the Dodge Durango?

  • Consumer Reports says the 2020 Dodge Durango is a spacious and pleasant vehicle to drive, with good owner satisfaction scores as it ages.
  • Edmunds rates the Dodge Durango at 4.6/5, enjoying the good low-range four-wheel drive system, but doesn’t like that it feels bulkier to drive than most other SUVs.
  • Kelley Blue Book users give the Durango a 4.7/5, praising the powerful V8 engine options, but owners don’t like that it is missing the latest standard safety tech.

What Common Problems Does the 2020 Dodge Durango Have?

Common problems reported on the 2020 Dodge Durango include burnt out headlights, chipping paint, along with excessive noise from the wheels. Overall, these problems are relatively minor for a full size SUV, leading to lower repair costs as the Durango ages.

Burnt out headlights are the most widespread complaint from 2020 Durango owners, showing up at around 10,000 miles. The stock headlight bulbs simply wear out quicker than on other vehicles, and have to be replaced. Changing them out costs about $65 per bulb, and there are some aftermarket bulbs which last longer and cost around $90.

Chipping paint is another problem mentioned by some Durango owners at roughly 5,000 miles. The paint on the front bumper is relatively thin and chips easily with stones and debris. Some people fix the chips with touch up paint for around $55, while others repaint the damaged panels at roughly $1,000.

Excessive noise from the wheels also shows up on some 2020 Durango models at 25,000 miles. Wheel bearings tend to wear out quickly, and will need to be replaced. Changing out the wheel bearings costs around $450, depending on local labor rates in your area.

There are two recalls on the 2020 Dodge Durango, which is better than other large SUVs from the same year. The first recall covers the rearview camera, which is fixed by a software update, while the second covers a loose air bag fastener, which Dodge will replace for free.

How Long Will the 2020 Dodge Durango Last?

A well-maintained 2020 Dodge Durango can last around 200,000 miles, which is shorter than the long-lasting Toyota Sequoia. Regular annual maintenance costs are similar to other large SUVs, according to data provided by Repair Pal, at $645 per year.

As a used 2020 Durango reaches 100,000 miles, and depending on the vehicle history report, owners should be prepared to replace the spark plug wires for $250, the oxygen sensor costing $375, along with the vehicle speed sensor, which costs around $425.

accountCircle ariana h

It is very reliable. There are no problems everything has been running great and it rides very smooth.

How Is the Technology?

The standard entertainment technology is great and includes a 7-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Optional upgrades include a larger 8.4-inch touchscreen along with a more powerful stereo system with subwoofer.

Standard safety technology is fairly basic and only includes a rearview camera.

Optional driver assistance features are available, such as:

  • Automatic high-beam headlights
  • Forward collision warning
  • Blind spot monitoring
  • Rear parking sensors
  • Lane keep assist
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Rain-sensing windshield wipers
  • Forward automatic emergency braking
  • Rear cross traffic alert
  • Lane departure warning
  • Front parking sensors

Is the 2020 Dodge Durango a Good Value?

Yes, the 2020 Dodge Durango is a good value if you’re in the market for a full size SUV with plenty of passenger room. The blue book fair purchase price ranges from $26,750 to $59,998, making it less than a Chevy Suburban or Ford Expedition. When new, the price range was $30,795 to $62,995. Depreciation is better than some competitors, only losing about 5% of its current value per year.

What Engines Come In the Dodge Durango?

  • Firstly, the standard engine on the lower trims is a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that produces 293 horsepower (or 295 with the dual exhaust system) and 260 lb.-ft of torque. This engine, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, achieves a combined fuel economy of 21 MPG (19 city/26 highway for RWD and 18 city/25 highway for AWD). It can sprint from 0-60 MPH in around 7.4 seconds and boasts a towing capacity of up to 6,200 lbs.
  • The next step up, available in the R/T trim, is a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine, delivering a robust 360 horsepower and 390 lb.-ft of torque. This engine features the same 8-speed automatic transmission and manages a combined fuel economy of roughly 17 MPG (14 city/22 highway). It significantly improves performance, is capable of a 0-60 MPH dash in just under 6 seconds, and offers a substantial towing capacity of 7,400 lbs.
  • Finally, for the utmost in performance, the Durango SRT trim houses a massive 6.4-liter HEMI V8 that churns out an impressive 475 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft of torque. Combined with the 8-speed automatic transmission, this powerhouse achieves a combined fuel economy of around 15 MPG (13 city/19 highway). It offers blistering acceleration, with a 0-60 MPH time of 4.4 seconds, and when properly equipped, it provides a best-in-class towing capacity of up to 8,700 lbs.

What Colors Does the Dodge Durango Come In?

How Comfortable Is the Dodge Durango?

The 2020 Dodge Durango stands out as a particularly comfortable ride, a characteristic attributable to its spacious interior, plush seating, and array of amenities designed for passenger comfort. The vehicle comfortably seats up to seven passengers across its three rows, with ample legroom, headroom, and shoulder room, making sure even long journeys feel relaxed. The adult-friendly third row is a notable feature, a rarity in similar class vehicles, offering more space than most competitors.

The seats themselves contribute significantly to the comfort factor; with available options like leather upholstery, heating, and ventilation in the first and second rows, passengers can enjoy a sense of luxury and personal climate control. The driver’s seat further enhances comfort with available power-adjustable settings, allowing for personalized seating configurations, which make a substantial difference during long drives.

Ride comfort in the Durango is also praiseworthy. Its suspension is tuned to absorb most road imperfections, providing a smooth ride that shields passengers from jolts and bumps. Additionally, the cabin is commendably insulated from road and wind noise, further improving the ride experience.

How Much Storage Space Does the Dodge Durango Have?

The 2020 Dodge Durango offers a versatile storage solution, adapting readily to passenger and cargo needs. With seating for up to seven, its spacious interior is designed not just for comfort but also for utility. Behind the third row, you have an ample 17.2 cubic feet of cargo space, enough for daily essentials like a stroller, your groceries, or a couple of medium-sized suitcases. For more substantial storage needs, folding the third row opens up 43.3 cubic feet, providing enough room for larger items such as camping gear, golf clubs, or a small piece of furniture. If you require maximum space, folding down both the second and third rows will afford you a generous 85.1 cubic feet of room, accommodating larger items such as a bicycle, large flat-screen TV, or several large boxes.

In addition to this substantial cargo area, the Durango is replete with smaller storage solutions throughout its cabin. The center console offers a sizable storage bin, ideal for keeping your gadgets, wallet, or small purse tucked away. Door pockets with integrated bottle holders add convenience, while the glove compartment provides additional secure storage for important documents or items. Seatback pockets on the front seats are also handy for keeping items such as tablets, books, or maps. Additionally, some models feature under-floor storage behind the third row, providing a discreet area to stow valuables or emergency equipment. With this blend of large-scale cargo space and nifty interior storage compartments, the 2020 Dodge Durango adeptly handles a broad spectrum of storage requirements for various travel, leisure, and everyday needs.

What Are the Differences Between Years?

The third generation of the Dodge Durango was launched for the 2011 model year, and there have been some minor redesigns in that timeframe.

2015: Optional red leather upholstery offered, along with upgraded Beats by Dre sound system.

2016: Start-stop added to the V6 engine to make it more efficient, sport model also available.

2017: GT model replaces the Limited in the lineup, minor interior changes also include two-tone leather.

2018: Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now standard on all models, SRT sport model launched with a more powerful engine.

2019: New 19-speaker Harman Kardon stereo system now available.

2020: No major changes from earlier years.

2021: All new front and rear styling with updated bumpers, larger touchscreen in the dash, and a more powerful SRT Hellcat model.

How Does the Dodge Durango Compare to the Competition?

The 2020 Dodge Durango is a nice full size SUV since it offers plenty of passenger room paired with reasonable ownership costs as it ages.

The Ford Explorer is another three-row SUV which costs about $3,500 more. Standard technology is a bit better in the Ford Explorer, while the Dodge Durango has more passenger room. We recommend the Dodge Durango, although it’s worth testing both out to see which fits your lifestyle better.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is a slightly smaller SUV which can be found in the same price range. Off-road performance is better in the Jeep Grand Cherokee, while the Dodge Durango can haul more cargo and passengers. We recommend the Dodge Durango, but it’s a good idea to check out both to see which you prefer since reliability ratings are similar.

Mommy friendly dodge Durango.
The car has a ton of room. We love folding down the third row seating to fit extra strollers or groceries in the back. We have a child in a car seat and there is plenty of legroom for the baby and we do not have a problem getting the car seat in and out of the backseat (in our other car we had to move the front seat up to get the car seat out) we love every feature about the car including the front and rear a/c, gas mileage and touch screen features.

Great car: loving the muscle look on the car. Heated chairs - lovely for winter!
Though it is already a high tech car, it would be better if it has a lane assist and a blind spot alarm. A free net cargo will come in handy too. For SUV 7 seater an LCD in the back would be great for kids. Headlights are halogen not led. I liked the high tech chairs and the fact that it has memory recall very good for families that are sharing cars.

Traded a 2016 Limited on a 2020GT Plus. The 16 was a great vehicle. Never any problems. The GT is quicker and more responsive at every level. Great family car. Lots of extra storage for family trips or even daily commute back and forth to work. Comfortable SUV. We are high enough to feel safe from other cars and trucks especially diesel trucks that are scary to be next to on the freeway. Wish I would have gotten then car sooner for my family.

Meh.

R/t rocks for this mom of 3.
I have really enjoyed my Durango r/t because of the power and sleek appearance. The red leather is what made me choose this model. The outside is a destroyer grey and it gets so many compliments. There is enough space for my 3 children and a double stroller. I have the captains chairs and DVD player and highly recommend them as well.

2020 dodge Durango r/t AWD.
The hemi has plenty of power and performs well. Sounds great. It has plenty of room and is very comfortable. Looks amazing and the harmon kardon sound system is phenomenal. It is the perfect compromise when you have a large family but want a muscle car.

New Durango awesome look!
This vehicle has all extras of a luxury vehicle except sunroof but I am sure it does have an option for that. The heated seats is what I love most. Then the option to change it to sport mode works great when you are ready to pick up and go! The look of the exterior and interior is so modern looking.

Leather heated and air conditioned seats also comes with heated steering wheel!
Reliable, looks nice, drives smooth. Safety is a plus in the Durango especially if you have children. All passengers in the back are comfortable. A lot of trunk space to fit what you need. Nice SUV for people with children or people who have to drive others around.

Family friendly SUV with good mpg.
Love the versatility of my dodge, hold my large family of 7. I also love that I can tow a boat so when on family outings with the boat we can take my dodge. Also love the luggage rack that is needed when on family vacations. The mpg is good for a large SUV I get about 22 mpg. Had a 2018 Durango and loved it and will probably buy another Durango in the future. Very comfortable and reliable!

Highlights of Durango and why you should buy it.
This dodge SUV is far from perfect, though. Its weaknesses include dull handling and poor safety scores for the class. It also has less cargo space and worse fuel economy than many of its rivals, and its interior quality is subpar as well. You should consider the Durango if you are in the market for a comfortable, family-friendly SUV that rates well for predicted reliability. It should shoot to the top of your list if the thought of a muscular hemi v8 under the hood excites you.

My vehicle is a high powered luxury vehicle in my eyes,
It is new so is working extremely fine and has not caused me any problems and it is super fast. That is what I like. Dodge has always been a car I wanted and got, so why not keep the tradition alive with a 2020 fast, four wheel drive vehicle. The designs are out of this world as well. Also what helps me with my deciding factor.

Great mid size SUV with great features and good mpg.
No problems. Vehicle rides nice, is comfortable and quiet. It tows a 5000 lb travel trailer with no problems and handles well. The gas mileage is great for this size SUV. I get 26 highway, 21 city and 14-15 towing. I love the cargo space with the third seat down and love that the third seat can fit adults when needed. The controls are well laid out.

Great car to own as of now.
I have had no problems and there are no problems with the said vehicle. Is a very good vehicle and cost very little to operate. Very good cost and experience to cost of vehicles.

Dodge Durango is very spacious and comfortable.
The car is very spacious on the interior. It rides really well and has great gas mileage, especially for an SUV. It is extremely comfortable to drive, and has captain seats, so my sons and their friends can get in and out no problem. There is also a lot of room in the trunk for groceries, camping gear, etc.

I fell in love the moment I sat in it.
I absolutely love my dodge Durango. It fits my family comfortably and on trips it's amazing. My vehicles performance handles very well in snow storms and has kept me safe. The heated steering wheel is definitely a must have well played dodge! Also knowing that this car gets up and goes much better.

We love our Durango highly recommend you consider buying one.
Love our vehicle. With it being a 2020 we have had no issues with performance, reliability. The Durango is very comfortable with the third row seating. Enough room for everyone to have their own space. Even with third row seating still have a decent amount of space for storage in the rear. Also has a nice little tuck away storage in the rear as well. We really enjoy to sport package that came with the Durango. Highly recommend the sports packages. This is our favorite vehicle by far.

This vehicle is good for winter months or bad terrain also luxury and comfort.
Great features and wonderful control. Has good suspension and tires. 4 wheel drive is great for snow and rough terrain. Has a am/ FM radio, with charger plug ups and smart console for easy GPS readings. Huge trunk storage and plenty of legroom for passengers.

The power of the dodge truck!
The performance is absolutely amazing. First let’s start with the power under the hood, cranking out 797 at the rear wheels. Next is the interior, the interior is the best for a sport truck. Also, everything just feels comfortable and lovely compared to a few other trucks I have been in. Final it have to be the exhaust, it is loud, noisy but the most special part about it is that it sound compliments the engine.

Cabin filter cover
Does a 2019 Dodge Durango supposed to have cover on cabin filter?
