I'm happy with my purchase
What I love about this car is that it fits 7 people, 2 in the back 3 in the middle. I also love the tinted glass to protect your children and big windows, electronic windows and doors, child locks for doors and windows. It has a beautiful light gray color. Back seat fold down for more space, middle seat comes forward to gain access to seats in the back. Is just a cool car.
accountCircle Thomas D
It is affordable and very practical for any person.
Looks good drives good cheap smooth.... Rides great, is good on gas, AC works nice.... Good service and quality people.
accountCircle Emily P
The color, storage room, spaciousness and it fits so much better in my garage
I absolutely love my journey. I love the touch screen radio. I love that the 3rd row goes down for more back space. And that there are storage compartments in the floor for my kids to store their books and or activities for when we go on long drives. I love the color of my journey

Smooth driving: put the kiddos to sleep.
Window doesn't come down and. Windshield wipers light continues to light. Other than that everything else is lovely. Wish it was easier to hook up Sirius xm and have the option to talk on the phone via bluetooth considering the vehicle is a 2012. When the vehicle. Was in an accident the body shop had a hard time locating the parts need and had to order the parts out of the country.
accountCircle Summer O
Plus its a Semi-Auto, so a totally fun car all around!
It's a car of luxury, but built to drive in all road conditions. The space allows you to plan for your turn to carpool or you can fold down the third row seating and load up the camping gear and hit the road! Has storage compartments, backseat heat/ac controls... Many charging ports for everyone to use!

Hands down, best vehicle around
My Dodge Journey has been an extremely reliable vehicle. It has never let us down. It has also been great for our budget. We spend about twenty dollars a week for gas, that's with two teenage sons going all over the place, so it is very good on the gas mileage. It really is a great little vehicle

2012 Dodge Journey almost perfect SUV
Overheating problem once. Coolant spilled out of car while sitting still while one with ac running. Thermostat got stuck and had to be replaced. After repair there were no more issues. No other issues so far besides not being big enough for my family
accountCircle Thomas C
It has a lot of space. Hasn't broken down yet. And was easy to pay off
It's been pretty dependable. It's got navigation. It was affordable

It is very spacious and comfortable.
Replaced motor and transmission with less than 110,000 miles. It has a lot of electrical problems with the doors and the radio. It is very roomy, it has third row seating. It does have a lot of storage which is nice but it does need improvement on the electrical.
accountCircle Keyana M
My car does not have Bluetooth.
I have always had problems with the transmission, the breaks, and this car is not good on gas. American cars in general are not reliable anyways, but my car is definitely not reliable. It could break down at any moment. I have only had the car for 2 years.
accountCircle KRISTEN M
It has built in coolers in the floor.
Nothing but issues with the transmission, I cannot replace the battery myself due to it being under the engine. The doors also allow water to seep into the inside of the rear doors. The trim on the window has also fallen off. The inside is okay but not enough room for the back passengers as it is narrow.
accountCircle Anne Rhoden
Awful
This vehicle is nothing but trouble. Issue after issue, definitely stay far away from this SUV. A 'certified' vehicle is no more than a car bought at an auction, you just pay more for it.

Do Not purchase a Dodge Journey
Its horrible got stuck on grass with a fresh coat of snow on it. Problem after problem. No room for your family if you have children all around horrible vehicle engine isn't well either sounds bad and isn't too reliable the trunk space isn't big either
accountCircle Patty L
Not as great as it looks.
Engine started slipping after just a couple of years. Lots of other engine issues. The remote lock/unlock does not always work correctly even with fresh batteries. I wish it had better gas mileage & a bigger gas tank. Also the 3rd row of seats are pretty much useless. Even a small child cannot fit back there and if you use it then you lose all your "trunk" space.
accountCircle Brenda S
Great for a family of four.
Initially when I purchased the Dodge Journey, I was thrilled the vehicle was going to give me the much needed trunk space and seating with our growing family. The Journey has a third row which is great it folds down and gives you more trunk space, which allows for more groceries and definitely fits a stroller. The nice thing about the third row is it folds down into two sections. So you can either fold down the whole third row or just half of the third row. This allows for someone to sit in the third row and gives you space for groceries and things. As my family grew the third row became much needed seating. The space the third row gives you is great if your a child but as an adult it's a bit small, I'm 5'1 and I'm not so comfortable sitting back there. Also by using the third row the trunk space reduces greatly, a stroller is harder to fit specially if you have a large one. This vehicle has had major car repairs, we are talking a few thousand dollars. We've had issues with the electrical, ex. Bluetooth, the touchscreen (which from time to time freezes), there was a recall on our vehicle, which is always scary. All in all not exactly what I expected, I believe this car is great for a family of four, you will fit comfortable the second row is spacious. You can definitely benefit from the third row folding down to give you that much needed trunk space.

It's a cheap car to buy if you want/ are looking for an suv
I dislike that it doesn't have bucket seats in middle row. The car is basic

2012 dodge journey: great car!
I truly have no complaints about the dodge journey. It is been sold. Drives well, durable and looks nice. The breaks and break pads need to be changed a little more often than other cars it seems, but that could just be the way my family drives the car specifically. We have used it for multiple 8-10 hour trips a year and it has not let us down yet. I would give it a 8/10.

My vehicle is a 2012 dodge journey sxt, it is color is black.
This car is probably the best I have ever had. I have had many vehicles throughout the years but this seems to be the most reliable. It has a good radio and comfortable seats, making long drives much more comfortable. I will also note, the fog lights help tremendously.

Pros from Owners

likeFilled Nancy N.

Roomy, reliable, economical for the size, quiet, value for the money and the type of vehicle, dependability, utility as it has a lot of room in back, V 6 power, ride is comfortable and quiet, front seat comfort, 3Rd row seating,

likeFilled Mike M.

It is a great vehicle for the price, I have had no major issues with it and it's great in the winter weather driving, it seats 5 to 6 comfortably and plenty of storage in back. The 4 cyl engine is plenty to power it in any type of driving or passing.

likeFilled Brandon J.

It drives smoothly, It has a simple user-interface, and most importantly, I feel safe when driving it. It is reliable, only having had a few problems over the years. The car is also pleasing to the eyes.

likeFilled Aaliyah A.

The pros of my vehicle is it is Good in the snow Big enough for a family but not too big Good gas mileage Has some Getty up. It is a 2012 and still runs like a charm. Easy to clean, has good underfloor storage.

likeFilled Alyssa C.

My Dodge Journey is the best car I have had. I have had this car for about 6 years. Wonderful car for commuting. It is an amazing family vehicle. The speakers in it are amazing. It very Spacious. It has 3 row seating. It has many compartments throughout the entire vehicle which I love since I have two kids.

likeFilled Jessica L.

This vehicle has optimal space both for people and cargo. It is easily maneuverable, reliable for long-term investment and works well on both rural and urban road conditions. It works well as a family, work, and personal vehicle.

likeFilled Theresa B.

Great suspension, I believe it is unique to these models. 3 Rows of seats, all of which fold down, including the front passenger seat. For such a large car great gas mileage. 6 Speaker audio system which includes XM Radio. Many a lot of options when it comes to things like seeing the air pressure it shows each tire individually. You can also switch on the option to see the speed your going digitally, I like that, & much more.

likeFilled Deborah V.

It is comfortable on long trips. Great storage and utilization. 3Rd row seat if needed and it is not cramped. Lots of ports to charge items - important to younger family members. Good gas mileage and has been very reliable and dependable.

Cons from Owners

dislikeFilled Nancy N.

3Rd row is small and only enough room for kids, 2nd row seating is not very comfortable, a lot of plastic, hard to see out of the back end, a lot of blocked vision out of back, corrosion protection as it is starting to rust, at times the transmission is jerky when putting it into gear.

dislikeFilled Mike M.

None I have had no issues and it's all around one of best cars I have ever owned, dodge has stood behind it since I have had it, and my next car will be a dodge. The prices of this model have actually dropped since I bought mine too.

dislikeFilled Brandon J.

This is not necessarily an issue with the car specifically, but it does not have the features that were developed for newer cars, such as rear view cameras to help with backing up, parking, etc. I'd imagine those features make things easier. Overall, I cannot think of any cons for those who do not care about such features.

dislikeFilled Aaliyah A.

The cons of my vehicle is the grey color is hard to keep clean sometimes dust is easy to see in the black interior. Has some mileage on it so needs a oil change often. Back seats are hard to lift up sometimes to clean in between them.

dislikeFilled Alyssa C.

This vehicle only has a few cons. It has came out with quite a few recalls. When one thing breaks down not only do you have to get it fixed but you have to pay to get that part reprogrammed by the dealership which is a pain. Other than that it does not have very many cons.

dislikeFilled Jessica L.

With the large size, no amount of maneuverability will work in a tight urban area. The gas tank, though large, quickly empties out and you have to be very mindful about how you drive so as to save gas.

dislikeFilled Theresa B.

Although the vehicle is great on gas mileage the con is when you accelerate, the 4 cylinders in the vehicle are really noisy, it gets there but noisy. Another thing they installed the hose to the front bent window washer fluid in an area that it causes the hose to become damaged by being bent & eventually breaking no matter how many times you change it. Lastly the visual backup camera is in the rear view mirror it is very small and hard to see clearly, you really cannot depend on it.

dislikeFilled Deborah V.

I am not sure except maybe the blind spot for the driver when looking left. It is also difficult when backing out to see anything coming. Otherwise I really have not found anything that I do not like or enjoy about my Journey.

Yes. It has been a good vehicle. Just wish it was roomier inside and the 3rd row was more accessible.

I like it very well. Only problem I've had was it hydroplaned on wet roads with original equipment tires. Once tires were replaced, that problem disappeared.

How Reliable Is The 2012 Dodge Journey?

Very reliable! I have had the car for over a year and only has to fix one thing so far. Had to get the heater fixed, but other than that just regular maintenance.
Ashley C.
It is reliable. We have had no issues these far and have had the vehicle for 5 years. . The only problem we have had are the wheel bearings have been replaced a couple of times.

The heater core was poorly made. I have had to replace it. The shocks also could be better. The heater could have better flow throughout the whole car.

If you keep up with maintenance I suppose it could be reliable. Make sure to keep good batteries in the key fob.

Is The 2012 Dodge Journey A Good Value?

We bought ours used, $8000, 150,000 miles. I thought it was a good deal for the size and year. No rust or dents or anything like that, and runs like a champ!
Ashley C.
It was a total of 15,000 from the dealership. It was a highly good value. Low mileage. Well worth the money.
Michelle T.
The dodge was 16000 when I bought it. I feel the price should be around 12000 it is good car not high quality made.
Aimee R.
I bought it used & got ripped off. I suppose that I could have gotten a brand new one probably close to the same amount as I paid for used if I would have done my research.
Cyndy A.
I paid around 25k and I am sure everyone wants a better deal but overall the price was decent enough.
Nicholas T.
I purchased the 2012 for $18,000. Had I known all of the problems it was going to have I would not have purchased this vehicle.
Mandy L.
It is a decent value. It was approximately 22,000 which, at the time was the norm for this type vehicle. Would not want to pay more for it though.
alex W.
When I bought it 3 years ago it cost 16,000 dollars. I think it was worth the cost. It gets much better gas mileage than my previous vehicle. That in itself makes it a good value.
