Alex Showalter
Feb 3, 2022

More expensive than rivals, with used prices ranging from $16,158 to $22,742, the 2010 model is a great year with fewer complaints than other trucks. Transmission problems have improved from earlier years, giving the Ram 1500 a longer than average lifespan of up to 300,000 miles.

likeFilled The Good
Interior materials are luxurious, the suspension is smoother than other large trucks, and the HEMI V8 offers great power for the class.
dislikeFilled The Bad
The base V6 engine is very weak, there are problems with the computer, and the fuel economy is lacking behind trucks in the same class.

2010 Dodge Ram 1500: Quick Overview

  • We rate the current reliability as very good, agreeing with the great rating from J.D. Power when the truck was new. There are some engine and electrical problems, but they’re not as widespread as in other years.
  • Three engines are available, one is an underpowered V6, and two are V8s including a HEMI with excellent power towing up to 10,250 pounds.
  • Fuel economy is average, ranking 3rd out of 7 full size trucks tested from 2010 with a combined rating of up to 16 miles per gallon.
  • Safety ratings are good for the class, getting a perfect 5-star rating in government crash tests.
  • Consumer Reports says the 2010 model is a huge improvement over previous versions with a luxurious ride and good power from the V8 engines.
  • The 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 series ranks 6th out of 15 full size trucks, based on owner reviews. With fewer complaints than other years, 2010 is a good year for the Ram 1500, and is one we recommend to buyers.

It has great payload and towing capabilities compared to other half ton trucks
It's a silver, Ram Big Horn. I love it, It's one of the best trucks i've had. I looks great, It's drives great. I had a ram in 2003 with the 5.7 liter HEMI, and it only got 16 mpg, but this one can get between 20 and 22 mpg.

Plenty of room: versatile: best deal in town.
We love our king cab ram dodge pick-up. Plenty of room for the dogs, but then we can drive friends to dinner. Very clean look. Warm seats and steering wheel. We love the extra room in the back. We use a cap. Versatile and 4 wheel drive keeps us safe in northern Michigan winters.

I will never buy anything other than dodge.
It's a gas hog but it runs great and will last forever. It has 6 seats and there is alot of room because its a crew cab. I live in Montana so its sbiw more than half the year and this vehicle does amazing in ice, even without snow tires. It has side impact air bags and I overall feel super safe driving this vehicle.

Fits 6 people with ease and allows for room still
Great performance and very reliable. I love being able to ride it around with ease It works great in any weather condition and fits a nice amount of people.

Perfect for every situation life hands you!
My truck is very versatile, very comfortable to drive, always reliable. I use my truck to haul dirt, sand, garbage, furniture, wood... All kinds of stuff. Then I take it through a car wash and use it as my everyday, family vehicle. It seats 5 comfortably but we can squeeze 6 people in. My truck takes us up in the mountains and down on the beach with the 4 wheel drive, I do not worry about getting stuck.

Good truck that is 10 years old.
The truck is pretty old, but it runs good. It is pretty comfortable and decent on gas. It does not like to start well in the winter, but that is just because it is old. It is quite loud, but I like it that way. My grandpa had it before me and we’ve taken really good care of it. Overall good truck that will last with the right owner.

Not a family vehicle but durable.
Burns gas easily. I think it is very comfortable and durable as well. I would not say it is reliable because we have had issues in the past with the heat going out and engine issues. As far as performance, the performance is excellent. It rides smooth for a truck and is able to get me through tough snow and dirt roads.

Easy to drive and can see when driving. Like that I am a little higher up.
The truck itself is too bulky. The seats wear fast. The interior feels rather cheap. I personally do not like the truck. It was not ahead of its time by any means whatsoever!.

I really like the dodge ram 1500. It is been a dependable vehicle and get decent mileage. We have not had it long but it has done really well so far. We bought it used but it was in really good shape. The body is in good condition. It has been easy to maintain.

Love the color and feel of the interior.
It not too big of a truck easier for a woman who’s never drove a truck to drive. Love all the amenities. It is a comfortable ride and haven't had any issues with the way it runs just replaced a few things. The truck has a lot more room easier for families to ride in.

What Problems Does the 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 Have?

There are fewer problems with the Dodge Ram 1500 series compared to other full size trucks from 2010, including the F-150 and Silverado. The newer 2011 model has more complaints from owners, making 2010 a better year to go with.

Electrical problems with the computer  are common, but better than earlier years, happening around 75,000 miles. The main computer controls every aspect of the truck, and failures prevent the vehicle from running. Replacing the computer costs about $900, depending on local labor rates.

Engine problems, including worn-out lifters, are not a common problem, but something owners should be aware of as the trucks reach over 120,000 miles. When the components wear out, the only solution is installing new ones. Replacing the lifters and camshaft is a costly problem, costing nearly $4,000.

Transmission problems are rarer than they were in earlier years, but there are some reported issues around 35,000 miles. Usually the transmission gets stuck in gear, caused by a computer problem. Often, simply restarting the truck solves the problem. In other cases, it’s a sign of a computer problem.

There are 5 recalls, which is fewer than other trucks from 2010. The recalls include the brake booster input rod, wireless ignition module, hydraulic control unit, power steering fluid cap, and tie rod ends. Most serious are the tie rod ends since a failure increases the risk of a crash.

How Much is the 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 Worth?

Blue book values range from $16,158 to $22,742 on the 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 series, which is more expensive than many other full size trucks including the F-150 and Silverado 1500. When new, the price range was $20,610 to $42,650. Depreciation is slower than many other vehicles, with full size trucks only dropping about 5% per year on the used market.

How Does the 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 Compare to Other Trucks?

Ranking 6th out of 15 full size trucks, based on owner reviews, the 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 series is in the middle of the class.

The highest rated half-ton truck from 2010 is the more expensive Toyota Tundra. Where the Tundra wins out is with a class-leading reliability rating, and more power with the standard V8 engine. On the other hand, the Dodge has better technology, and a higher quality interior. For the 2010 model year, the trucks are very close, and the decision comes down to personal preference.

Another rival is the more affordable Ford F-150. The F-150 has a higher towing capacity, and more customization options available. Where the Ram comes out ahead is with more powerful engine choices, and more technology for the money. Overall, both are good trucks, and test driving both is worth the time to determine which you prefer.

Dodge ram 1500 is reliable and a convenient way to tow.
The truck is highly reliable. I have had no issues with the truck and it is very comfortable. I can easily load up my dirt bikes in the bed of the truck. It is does not get very good gas mileage but that is pretty typical for most trucks. It is convenient to have if you are having to move heavy duty stuff like furniture.

20 inch tires so the wheel well seems nice and full. I hate the smaller tires.
The only problems have been changing the oil and the battery. Just a joke. It has 65000 miles on it and has not needed a brake job yet. The hemi is terrific, great for passing or entering a major artery. I love it.

Basic sport model. Still rides great. No issues. 150,000 miles. It is my daily driver. What sucks about having an awesome truck is that people know you have an awesome truck so they ask you to use your awesome truck. Sometimes I just want to have wholesome friendships, but my awesome truck is a lady-magnet.

We haven't had any big problems so far and have had the vehicle for almost a year now. Drives very smooth and we have hauled a trailer before with it and it drives perfectly. Very comfortable and lots of space on the inside. It is a very reliable truck and has Bluetooth to connect with your phone.
accountCircle Elias S on May 31, 2021
The ram that keeps on giving.
My truck has relatively low miles (less than 50k) and there are some small cosmetic issue that I dislike. The windows vibrate on bumpy roads almost as if there is too much space between the door and the interior door trim panel for it to move. I also wish the auxiliary cord was not hidden in the center console/ center seat armrest. The location of the aux causes my phone cord to get chewed/ ripped up more often than I'd like despite there being an open space for the chord to sit. Overall the mechanical performance of the 5.7 hemi, the suspension, and the body lines of the car are what make me give it a 5/5 review. This is what makes a ram pickup what it is and these are the things that make it a good reliable truck.

Driving a dodge ram 1500 big horn.
This pick up truck from dodge is very reliable and dependable! I drive a ram 1500 big horn and it is been great! There is enough space in the bed for furniture hauls or moving bulky items! The gas tank fills up with about 50 dollars and it lasts me all week, while driving to San Francisco it gave me no mechanical issues whatsoever! It is spacious enough from the inside for the kiddos and the upgraded technology inside is amazing.

Power, comfort and decent gas mileage.
We picked this vehicle because of the crew cab option. It pulls our 29' travel trailer perfectly and still had full leg room in the back seat. It has the option for ethanol e85 but right now that is pricier and gets less mileage. I usually survey between 12 and 14 city and 17-20 miles per gallon on the expressway.

Dodge ram 1500 - would absolutely recommend.
I have had very little issues so far. I have owned this vehicle for two years. Other than routine maintenance, I have had to replace a serpentine belt and a seized pulley. There has been an issue with the service 4wd light coming on but I have not had repair this yet. The issue is believed to be a sensor issue.

Great ride, just a few issues.
Love the ride. The main issue is that at about 175,000 miles problems start to occur. My current issue is that my heater does not work and I am leaking coolant. Recently the battery died and I tried to jump it but it would not start. I replaced fuses and the starter. Turned out that one of the battery cells completely died and wouldn’t start the truck.

Great reliable truck for a student.
I love the dodge ram 1500. This truck looks great and drives great as well. Even though it is 10 years old I still receive compliments on it often. I have had no issues with the truck for the entire time that it has been in our family (it was bought new in 2010). The only issue the truck has had was related to driving patterns rather than a manufacturing error. I would recommend this truck to anyone!

Outlining some of the problems with dodge rams.
In this model pretty much all of them have, or end up with, transmission problems. It starts slipping around 100,000 miles. It is probably a defect and may be covered by your trucks warranty. The truck tends to slide around when it rains and the weather affects the tire pressure more than other vehicles.

Great vehicle that I have enjoyed driving!
I have really enjoyed owning my vehicle. The overall leg room and space is great for a tall person like myself. It has proven to be a reliable vehicle. I haven't had any major issues at all. The one negative, which is to be expected, is the fairly poor gas mileage that it gets. Other than that, I have loved the vehicle!

The ride is smooth. I have the 4.7 liter v8, four wheel drive quad cab truck. The interior cloth is a problem, because it is tearing on the driver side. The ride is smooth and balanced. I was really pleased with the four doors with 4 handles instead of the traditional suicide doors for an extended cab. It makes it easier for family to get in and out.

It has a Mopar engine which is fuel efficient, great gas mileage.
I like my truck because it is very practical to my work. It is stylish and handles well.

The gear dial is on the front console instead of in the middle.
Reliable and extremely safe- air bags and roll cage all around. Comfortable for long trips, spacious. Decent on gas for most trucks, drives smoothly, great for all year round. Great for towing. Cleans up well in the interior and exterior. Great for loading and unloading material- whether hardware or miscellaneous.

2016 silver dodge ram 1500.
Inside is very roomy. Has plenty of bedroom. Love the bed liner. Stereo is awesome. Looks great. Side step would be helpful for me and my friends. Gas mileage is decent compared to other trucks that I have spoken to people about. Drives nicely and high up.

I love my dodge ram truck.
Performs very well. Tpms sucks. Truck is very light on a wet road which is surprising due to its size. I get very good gas mileage considering the truck has a 5.7-liter, v-8, hemi engine. Tires will be a tad expensive. The color, which doge calls 'cool vanilla', really gets a lot of compliments.

Review of a dodge ram trx4 the durability and reliability.
It is been a really great truck haven't had many problems with my truck expect the computer went out and had few minor electrical problems. Also had to put new motor in it because when I bought the truck it had bad motor. Other than that it has been really great very great off road truck and very durable and reliable if maintained.

It is very reliable. Check the sunroof drains!.
I love how dependable my vehicle has been for me I never need to worry about it not starting or not being able to perform the way I need it to. Every time I have needed to pull something it never lets me down there has been times when friends have gotten their vehicle stuck and every time they call me to come pull them out whether they have gotten stuck in the snow, drove off the road into a ditch or even gone mudding and found themselves too deep in the mud to get out.

A full size quad cab dodge, with power everything, touch screen control.
I love my dodge ram 1500, because it is reliable, dependable and can handle the load of hauling a trailer daily that my husband uses for work. We've had the vehicle for about a year now but it is obviously not a brand new truck, but it gives us the comfort and reliability that we want in our lives. There's enough room for our family of 5 to sit comfortably for long distances, which is nice because we take road trips fairly often. I have owned a few dodge rams throughout my life and I have loved them all, and will continue to purchase them throughout the rest of my life.

My truck has subs so the music sounds great.
It is a great truck runs perfect just wish I could have something a little nicer. There are no wrecks on it but has high mileage because I use it to travel for work.
