It is an extremely reliable vehicle with great mileage.
I like the fact not only is my vehicle highly rated for safety, it is a vehicle with a lot of bang for the buck. It gets great gas mileage, is stylish, comfortable, and was low in cost.

Has 10 year 100,000 miles warranty best part ever!

A reliable compact SUV which can withstand high mileage and variable terrain.
It is a compact SUV which has performed great off road and up steep hills. It lacks pickup, though. It is only a 4 speed rather than 5 speed. Overall we are very happy with our car. It has traveled cross-country and up and down the east coast, we maintain it well and it takes good care of us on the road.

Super reliable. Bought it on a whim. It did not dis-. Appoint.
Very reliable vehicle. It has been a very stable ride. Highly recommended vehicle. I have owned many. Vehicles and this car has far outpaced anything I have driven before. Can I recommended it to others.

By far my favorite car I've owned!
I feel like my car has been super reliable since I've purchased it. I purchased it used and have had no issues with it. I feel like it is very spacious and I have plenty of room for everything, but it doesn't feel like I am driving a huge vehicle either!

It was built to last u can for business or just out on the town.
I like that it has enough space though it's not very big. I like that it does what I need and has the features I like. I dislike a small malfunction where the check engine light comes on if the vehicle has trouble shifting gears at high speed and high rpm.

It is fun to drive and comfortable on long trips. Excellent gas mileage.
This is a new car for me. I purchased it used 1 month ago. I like the size of the car and the gas mileage. So far, the car has proven to be a good decision. I have no complaints to date.

Do the required maintenance and your car will love you back.
Has been very reliable. Upgraded cloth seats are comfortable and makes the driving more enjoyable. Like the XM radio and subscribe monthly.

My 2009 Tucson's Engine Burned Down
Though I loved my 2009 Limited Tucson and babied it up until last summer when it spontaneously caught fire and burned to the ground. It was sitting in my laneway, my teenage kids were home alone and luckily they called 911 right away. A few minutes later and my house would have burned down too! Apparently 09 Tucson, like other Tucson and Kia models have this problem.

Sudden unanticipated acceleration*
I bought a new Hyundai Tucson in June 2010. It was serviced at the dealership on schedule. In November 2016 I was on a highway doing the limit of 100 kmh when it went into * and in a few seconds it reached 150kmh. .After a few terrifying minutes it decelerated returning to normal. The dealership could not replicate this. Three days later the same thing happened and ditto regarding replication. In December 2016 the same thing happened except this time I was able to pull over to the shoulder and after returning to normal revs I could not get it over 25 kmh so limped home. The dealer could not replicate this.. In February 2019 while in reverse the car lurched forward, crossed a small parking lot, came to a stop. I was able to repark with no problem. Replication at the dealer. In October 2019 the car took off while being parked and crashed into a store front door causing expensive damage both to the store with the car now being a write off. Now I am told by Hyundai that it wants to extract the air bag, which did not deploy, to send to Korea for inspection. Hyundai will not guarantee that it will share the report with me or my insurance. Any thoughts or advice would be welcome.

Never buy a Hyundai.
Having bought the vehicle brand new in 2009, we were, at first, quite happy with it. My pain concern, initially, was that *inside* the vehicle, the transfer of noise from the tires was quite loud. Other than that, it served us well for about 8 yrs.....until the transmission failed. But, as we had followed Hyundai's maitenance schedule quite loyally throughout owning the car, Hyundai did pay for the new transmission (but not the costs of replacing it). This was before it even hit the 200,00 Km mark. It's now 2020, and closer to that 200,000 Km mark, and the "check engine" light came on. We had it serviced, and returned to to us (with a repair bill of $750.00.) The "check engine" light problem occurred again. Return trip to Hyundai service dept. Now we're told it need a new (or used) engine. The quote is for a $2500.00 used engine (with 150,000 Km on it) and an install bill of approx. $3500.00 - so $6,000 bill total. After already paying $750.00 for the problem that was NOT fixed. Needless to say, my recommendation is to never deal with Hyundai, or buy another Hyundai vehicle, ever again.

Dependable, safe, gets you around
Comfortable car but not powerful engine, great interior and exterior design.

My car has decent amount of space. The seats fold down, which gives extra trunk room.
It sometimes has issues starting. It has had that issue since I bought it, but they didn't believe me. I do love the size though.

Salvage Title due to the unfortunate accidents that it has been in.
I like the safety features that it has but wish the leather seats were all leather instead of perforated leather.

Two boxes can be raised or lowered so he can rest his arm on the top box.
My daughter gave me the cat last week. I had been driving minivans for the last 30 years and this car is a SUV. The ride is very different. To me it feels like riding in a pick up truck--bouncy and rough. One good thing are the mirrors; they are large and make traffic clearly visible. I am very tall; however there is plenty of room for my legs under the steering wheel. The best part is that it cost me $1. 00!

It is excellent on gas mileage.
I like that I do not have a payment. I like that my vehicle has leather interior and that it is good on gas mileage. I like that it is a smaller SUV vehicle and not big and bulky. I dislike that it is an older vehicle with higher mileage. I dislike that I do not have a navigation system.

Great Low Budget SUV: Worth the Buy
There is just a screeching noise when I drive it (which could be a maintenance issue) and the brakes could be more responsive. Gas mileage isn't the best, but overall it's not a bad car. I do feel like it runs pretty well overall and I don't have to take it in that much, so that's why I gave it a 4.

2009 Tucson by Hyundai. Nice interior and build.
I personally love my car. It rides very smooth and I feel very safe. It is up higher off the ground than a car which is a must for me because I like being up higher when I drive. It tells you how much miles till empty and has great miles per gallon. I truly love my car because I haven't had one problem with it from the start. Even with it being a 2009 there have been no issues from the start.

Pros from Owners

likeFilled Lynn R.

Reasonably quiet. Comfortable. More than ample leg room, especially in the back seat. East to drive. Other than good routine maintenance requires little extra. Good looks (like a Lexus). Nice AC & good heat.

Cons from Owners

dislikeFilled Lynn R.

Mileage is okay but it should be much better. Must buy rear wiper from dealership. Difficult to keep tires inflated equally up to correct pressure. Tech features should be more easily accessible and additional outlets available.
