The steering is very smooth and really lets the driver feel in complete control. Also the seating is comfortable but nowadays there are more comfortable seats but these are still nice. And finally it has good trunk space.
Slap shift; good fuel economy for small SUV. Nice, comfortable seats. Smooth ride. Do not care for basic package. Windows hard to open and close while driving. No power mirrors. Sits a little low compared to other SUVs of its size.
It is easy to take care of and I have had very few problems with it. Most of the problems have been very minor like lights and visor. It is easy to drive and gets fair gas mileage. I would rather that be higher but for the size and weight car, it is good.
Outdated compared to vehicles being made nowadays. Does not have a rear view camera or driver being able to control the radio with his steering wheel. The backseat does not have the best legroom, especially is tall people sit in the back. Only 4 cup holders in the car.
It is the basic model, so there's no electronic mirrors, windows, or locks. Do not feel comfortable rolling down windows or adjusting mirrors while driving; feels unsafe. Headlights do not shut off automatically when turning off ignition. Rather annoying to be dinged at when stepping out of the vehicle.
It does occasionally hesitate and stall out when stopped at an intersection, but it has done this only twice and with no apparent effort, it is now running smoother. It did not pass the smog test because it had supposedly not gone through a drive cycle to reset the testing mechanism in the car, but after finding out what a drive cycle was and taking a drive to accomplish that, it passed just fine. The visor bolt came out and is hard to replace.
The 2009 Jeep Patriot has an average owner rating of 4.19 out of 5 which ranks it #14 of 25 other Compact SUVs.
