Nissan Murano is a great and reliable SUV.
My Nissan Murano has been a great running car for many years!! A few hiccups along the way but otherwise it is a great car. Leather and heated seats, AWD and Bose sound system too! Still looks like no with little or no rust. I cannot wait to upgrade to a new model soon.
accountCircle Takiya S
The fuel economy is an average of 20 mpg, with 4 wheel drive all the time.
It has the perfect amount of room for my family. The cargo area is big enough for a full shopping trip, but comes equipped with a net for the days we only get a few things. The dashboard screen tells us a lot of different information that comes in handy for various reasons..

It's reliable and dependable.
I love my Murano. It hasn't given me any trouble since I got it. Good gas mileage too!
accountCircle Dennis R
It is a good car. I would recommend it to anyone looking to buy a car.
I love the way it drives. It has only had a minor issue with it but that is it. I would recommend it to my friends and family.

I believe one important thing the others should know about my car is that it is extremely reliable
I was extremely lucky to purchase the Nissan Murano that I have. The previous owners kept it in wonderful condition despite its age. It drives extremely well, it is extremely comfortable. There are several features that helped seal the deal such as adjustable pedals and a rear view camera.
accountCircle Carly C
I love that it has all wheel drive. It's very continent for the winter especially when there's snow or ice on the ground. Being a girl I don't want to have to put chains on
I feel safe in it. It's easy to drive. It's reliable

Beauty of Nissan and all of the amazing features that is pertained to its style
It is very spacious. The car sometimes is bad on gas. It takes a lot to fill it up and it runs out fairly quickly. The sunroof adds to the beauty of the vehicle. It comes with a great sound system that is very crisp to the tone of the music. The hatchback allows for more items to be placed inside
accountCircle Clark W
The transmission is not reliable and has cost me and my family loads of money, as well as it is quite delicate. It often has problems with electronic sensors.
I love the size of my Murano. It has plenty of space and a lot of room for my friends, family, and cargo. I love it's gas economy and the little features in it; like the rear seats lay back, and the brand is on the carpet. Also, I love the Bose sound system and modern look for an older car.

Electrical problems.
No reman units available for ECM's. Must buy aftermarketfrom Holley Carb. Comes with wiring harness.
accountCircle Jonathan M
Unreliable, frequently requires service. Do not purchase if you can avoid it.
I love the features of the vehicle (heated seats, navigation, sunroof, etc.) The vehicle drives great in the snow but has had numerous problems ( exhaust, frame rot, suspension and ball joint failing)

Grey black soft interior not leather and black detailing
Really loud doesn't work to its ability anymore doesn't have a Bluetooth connection either. Just gets me from point one to point two and has potential but doesn't have the add ons to help my experience. I feel like a Bluetooth or aux cord connection would help or even better speakers
accountCircle Lacey S
I don't know if this is a common problem or if it is just mine.
The Murano is comfortable with the leather adjustable seats. Great gas mileage when it is running right. However ours currently has a problem that a Nissan dealership along with several senior mechanics could not figure out that causes the car to stall & run rough when it is over 50 degrees. If it is cold the car runs great.

Quality of electrical system is not good.
2005 Nissan Murano had problems with ECM and wiring harness, costs over $2,000 just for parts, no rebuild made, must buy a kit from Holley carb with wiring harness to fix, very expensive to repair!!! Don't let a dealer work on them! They will charge more than the car is worth..2005 Nissan Murano.

Do your research before you buy.
I've had trouble with this car since I bought. I'm the 3rd owner. The second owner installed a 'new' transmission in their backyard. I had to replace the bad transmission with a new one. Also the doors never unlock on their own and I can't always open up the trunk. The speakers are good.

My first family car the Nissan Murano.
It's a pretty good vehicle. It has enough room for my 2 kids plus room in far back. The only problem I've had is the sunroof leaking and you must use premium gas to get good gas mileage which is quite expensive.

Good Car
The mpg is pretty bad, but you expect that tradeoff for the power that comes from this unexpectedly fast vehicle. I installed a custom air intake and it sounds amazing and is very fast for what the vehicle is. Same engine as the Nissan 350Z and Maxima, which are both sports cars. They ALL have the same problems that continued into the 2nd gen, which is a bad mark on Nissan: The driver's seat frame breaks, as if it were made for 120-lbs soccer moms. Every 60k miles the pully's break off the engine, which is a very expensive fix. The radiator is 1/2 made of plastic, which obviously fails around the same time the notoriously awful Nissan plastic headlights start yellowing and making the car look cheap, around 70k miles. I still drive my 2005 here in late 2021, and it runs well, but there are issues with the horn not working, the cd player doesn't eject cd's without ingenuity, occassionally the driver's side headlight doesn't want to turn on, the A/C can't be turned on and off without adjusting some things, and the oil pressure light is now on, and no mechanic in town can find the issue, even though we've replaced sensors, tubes, hoses, and splashed it with holy water. Also, the oil filter placement is dumb and annoying, and it's almost impossible to change the spark plugs without taking the entire engine out of the vehicle, which is also dumb. All that said, here I am at almost 140k miles and almost the entire vehicle is original: Engine's never been rebuilt. Original CVT transmission. Original shocks (though the car ride's like the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland), and people are shocked at how new my car looks (thanks Chris Fix on Youtube for the videos on how to restore paint!). I really do love this vehicle, and I'm horribly sad that they changed the interior the way they did with the latest gen. I'm 6'9" and can't fit in any Murano's made after 2014. I was going to buy a 2020 Murano but they ruined the dashboard so that it digs into my shin! Dumb move Nissan.

Good gas mileage. Small though.
Rides very hard. You really have to take it slow on driveways and potholes. Poor gas mileage. You cant see the front of the vehicle making it hard to judge.

Pros from Owners

likeFilled Caitlyn B.

It has lots of room, and great for a small family. It drives great and handles good. Con is its too big sometimes and it takes up a lot of room, and it has broke down on us multiple times. Other than that I love it. The seats are comfortable and has a car seat seat belt in the back for rear facing infant.

likeFilled Valeria B.

15 Gallons of gas lasts me 2 weeks and I drive 30 minutes to and from college 4 days a week. Drive 10 minutes to and from work 3 days a week. Spacious second row for kids includes TV and rear spacious for loads of groceries!

Cons from Owners

dislikeFilled Caitlyn B.

Too big, and breaks down a lot. It is frustrating and inconvenient constantly. Its slipped the transmission twice, and blown 3 tires because the alignment keeps going out of place. I really dislike the vehicle when it comes to it breaking down.

dislikeFilled Valeria B.

After a while, the steering wheel starts to shake when going 70 mph, that is normal for TX highways and sometimes when it's windy I feel as if my car and I are going to fly away with the wind, a lightweight car. Pros when you're alone and it's easy to speed up and slow down, cons when weather is bad.

How Reliable Is The 2005 Nissan Murano?

Very reliable I've only had one issue in the 3 yrs I've had it and it wasn't a very expensive one and it drives great.
Meredith T.
It’s old car, with almost 180,000 miles on it. Needed new brakes and rotors a new radiator new Axles. I mean like anything you need to replace things as time goes on but overall it’s a good car
Leann V.
So far so good. It's a used model, so it isn't perfect, but it's been very dependable with very few issues thus far. Really good for a 2005.
Emily G.

Is The 2005 Nissan Murano A Good Value?

I paid 3500 for it and feel it was well worth the money considering all the extras it had and how great it drives and not bad at all on gas.
Meredith T.
In my opinion it shouldn't be this expensive. Mostly because the inside is so lack of space and it spends a big amount of gas
kim F.
Was the luxury edition of its time was about $35,000 and I think for being 14 years old it’s held up to its price
Heather G.
We got ours from a used car dealer for $3000. It had super low mileage & all features worked, so it was a great deal.
