Dependable Car in the Subaru Forester
I love my Subaru Forester, it has been extremely dependable since I purchased it with very good gas mileage and low maintenance

This car is very reliable. The only major breakdown I've had with it is a wheel bearing went out.
This is the most dependable car I have ever owned. I've had only one major breakdown and very few miscellaneous repairs. What I don't like about this particular vehicle is that there is only one keyhole to unlock the car. Only on the driver's side - none on passenger side.

The AC doesn't work all the time.
It has a long life, but can be a pain when something breaks because of brand specific parts.

Comfortable travel vehicle
My Subaru Forester rides very smoothly and has over 156,000 miles. I have had no major repairs done to it besides fixing my air conditioning. I love the sporty style in that it has ample room in the back for storage. Yet, the leg room in the back seat is small. The front seats are very comfortable and roomy. My only other complaint is that my car is noisy on the highway.

Safety, comfort and reliability. Stable AWD. Easy maintenance.
Purchased used; is actually 2005 model with all the best features. Less than 53K original miles. One owner, personally known to me. No complaints.

All about my Subie and how it gets me where I need to go.
My car is great! So far I have had no problems with this vehicle. I have owned it for a little over 3 years now. Even though it is now 13 years old nothing big has happened. It still gets great gas mileage. At least 28-30 on road trips. It is an automatic and very comfortable to drive. It has all automatic features. It is a large wagon type and can fit 5 passengers. AM FM radio and CD player. No USB

Reliable even in MN winters.
I love that my car just keeps going. It has 160k miles on it and even when it has problems it does not quit on me. The struts were a pain to replace because they were specific to mu edition of the car, but repairs and maintenance are otherwise reasonable.

Lots of storage in a small car.
Scratchy breaks, even though mechanics tell me there's nothing wrong . Car lurches forward when it is cold outside. The door over the gas cap gets frozen in the winter, which is annoying . Really tight turning radius. Performs well and gets good gas mileage. Lots of trunk storage. Really big sunroof.

It gets you where you need to go. It's never left me in a position where it just died and I had to get a ride.
I love the Subaru brand, it saved my life 2 years ago when I was hit by an 18-wheeler and survived without any major injuries. It's great in the winter and as I said, a safe car to drive. But they are known for having issues with head gasket, engine light and cruise control lights that stay on all the time, very annoying.

Great car. No complaints about my Subaru forester.
It is great. I have never except once had problems with my car in the ten or so years I've had it. I definitely will be buying a Subaru again. Apart from the oil change light that doesn't go out and the little bit of oil it leaks the car runs perfectly.

It's comfortable. The seats do not hurt my back. There is a lot of space for my 2 large dogs, always a plus!
Surprisingly, this was my first Subaru and I love it in the snow. Perfect.Having bought it used, it has developed a lot of issues making it a lemon. The driver side window froze. The battery died, the bottom exhaust pipes were welded together, the left side bearing had to be replaced, the radiator has now started to be a problem. Endless issues.

Safety and reliability are the most important areas.
We purchased the vehicle brand new. It is been involved in 2 accidents and continually provides me with a safe feeling. I also only need to fill the gas tank every other week. The insurance is also relatively low.

Very reliable. Where I live, many people have Subarus, so it is pretty easy to get repairs
It works great for where I live, which is a place that gets a lot of snow, so the 4 wheel drive comes in handy. The check engine light is always on because there is some sort of problem with the catalytic converter, which is apparently a normal thing for these cars. Doesn't affect how it drives.

2006 Subaru Forester review.
My vehicle's check engine light remains on when there is not anything wrong with my vehicle, but it runs well and has been around for 12 years. If idle, the ac turns warm, but once you start moving again the car will blow cold air. I love the heated seats feature. Overall I love the car, I have never had an issue.
accountCircle Sharon N on December 11, 2020
The accelerator is touchy.
Its size is just right small enough to handle easily but big enough to carry most of what I need. One drawback is that it tends to use oil faster.

Great car
2006 forester ll bean! The best car i have ever owned! Ive had toyotas, datsuns, fords and vw,s, of which 2nd best was vw! My subaru was given to me after a friend wrecked my 03 ford ranger,,the forester beats hands down the ranger on mileage, maint, drive, everthing! Although the forester is not without some issues! Of course leaky head gasket, of witch mine seeps oil out underside of right head, drips on oil filter and blows back on pipes! But almost everyone that has one had somewhat same issue,, right now im going through an issue from a engine code that came up from EVAP unit! And it was traced down to vapor canister, fuel sensor and shut off ? but cant complain! Its still the best! Theres not a car around that dont have maint issues! Ive only had subaru for two years and have not had in snow yet, just got new GTX yotohama tires, auto, ll bean is leather seats, heated seats front and back,,sun roof, weather channel, lots cargo room, i get upper 30s to low 40s on highway at 65 to 70 even though its auto!

Nice design but potentially problematic maintenance if you keep for an extended period of time.
It is a decent design, with enough space for storage of groceries and other essentials, the occasional home improvement project supplies. The front end has been problematic, which seems to be a general Subaru issue. The bearings have worn out several times causing a loud noise and had to be replaced. Not as reliable as I would like.

I really like my Subaru Forester because it has proven to be a reliable brand. I have owned a few and so have family members and it's always been a reliable, safe, and competitively priced brand. Subaru Forester Review/Concerns
Subaru Forester is a great car in terms of aesthetics and performance. The major downside is a leaking head gasket, which apparently is a widespread problem for foresters.

Great in the snow and rain.
It's very reliable and handles well in the rain and snow. I feel safe. It's easy to drive and maneuver and backing up and parking is a breeze. However the gas mileage isn't very good and sometimes acceleration is slow, especially on hills. It is roomy and great for families and dogs. The seats lay perfectly flat which makes it great for hauling things as well.

All around great car won me over.
I bought my car used, put a little work in, and have absolutely loved it. I was afraid it was going to feel big and SUV-ish, but I am happy to say it is just right. I love the ground clearance and the height I sit at while driving, and there are virtually no blind spots with all of those windows. It has heated seats, and the biggest sunroof I have ever seen. The AWD is amazing in snowy ct where I live, though that big, flat roof is hard to clear snow off of at times. This car is practical and powerful, feels safe and like it just might run forever.

Great on gas, SPACIOUS INTERIOR, no major issues.
My 2006 Forrester has lasted many road trips, kayak trips, and camping/off road trips. Very durable car, ive been in several accidents and all of them I feel as if the damage should have been much more significant. I got read ended by someone in a sedan texting doing about 40 mph, their car was undriveable, hood went up into a triangle with a completely smashed engine, and my Subaru made it out with just a dent to the bumper, no damage to the frame/rear wheels. I was SHOCKED I got hit with such force and my airbags did not deploy, but my seatbelt locked and I barely moved. No whiplash or anything. Great in the rain & snow. Perfect beginner SUV for young adults. I bought mine used, in great condition. 14 yrs old 140,000 miles and NO ENGINE PROBLEMS, only have had to do basic matience like oil changes, tire roatations, etc.

I love my 2006 Forester - an excellent first car
I love my 2006 Forester! I bought it used with 100,000 miles. The head gasket is leaking and I often have to top off my oil, but this is a common issue with Subaru wagons from this era. With proper attention and care the car has been great. It has so many excellent features, my favorite being the sunroof/moonroof combo. So lovely on a warm summer day! We have a manual version, and I love that aspect of it. We not only have an automatic theft deterrent, but it makes sure I pay attention on the road. Overall, the performance has been decent. It's now above 150k miles, so it needs repair work on the rods and it's definitely been running louder than it used to. We also recently had to change the tires and brakes. The most common problem is that the crank or crankshaft sensor has gone bad several times. This also happened to a previous Subaru I owned, an Outback. This car is comfortable, has plenty of cargo space, and is so much fun to take places. It is high enough to get to trail heads, but small enough to make city parking easy. I cannot recommend this car highly enough!

Decent all around, could be a little better on gas but it is a good car.
Decent on gas, plenty of legroom, heated seats and a lot of room in the hatch. The engine is strong and the car has been reliable. The only downside is the all wheel drive and having to change out 4 tires for and inspections versus 2 on a rwd. Comfortable seats for long range drives.

The perfect sleeper to cruise around town.
My 2006 Forester XT is a fun practical vehicle. The turbo puts a smile on your face as you press the accelerator and feel pressed against your seat hauling down the road all whilst carrying cover in the large capacity trunk. However, if you are looking for a gas sipper then you might want to look elsewhere as this vehicle nets about 280 to a tank while requiring 93 octane. Other than that....12 year old vehicle with nearly 180k miles has treated me well. Just keep an eye on wheel bearings

It is one of the most dependable cars on the market today !!
This is the best car that I have ever owned, it is an all wheel drive car so it great in the snow, it gets great gas mileage and it is large enough for all my needs.

The hatchback feature is great, and it allows a large amount of storage if you're going camping, on a road trip, to the beach, or a wide variety of other things.
I like that it has a lot of spacious room in the trunk. I go on road trips regularly and this car has been very reliable. It gets great mileage and doesn't require a lot of maintenance.

Awesome Subaru Forester 2006
My Subaru is incredibly reliable and gets great gas mileage. I take it off road on old Jeep trails quite often. It has plenty of room and the roof rack is incredibly handy. I also got in one car accident with the car and it held up well with no engine damage or framework damage.

Subaru’s are very reliable.
The car is very reliable and easy to fix within a reasonable price point. I dislike that the car is older and has a few small rust spots.
