2012 Ford Explorer Reviews

I been driving 2012 ford explorer for 2 years now I love this car it is so comfortable to drive and you get a lot of space in the back when you fold all the chairs down. There is a common problem I found out that the rubber on the bottom of the front glass under the wipers will start to break to pieces after a while and you have to buy a new replacement for that and the plastic piece on the edge of the front glass also will fly from your car if you do not glue it before it does since you know the problem now. Other than those little silly plastic pieces I think the car is amazing and I really love it is even a gas saver.

I have enjoyed our Explorer. It has a smooth ride and is comfortable for many people. It has held up quite well over the past 6 years we have had it. There are several things I dislike. The back doors are strangely shaped which makes them larger than the opening. This is an issue when parked next to someone and trying to get children in and out. Also, the cup holders and door compartments are poorly placed. I also dislike not being able to set a temperature like most other cars have. We have had to do regular maintenance but nothing too major.

I really enjoy the gap control which allows you to set the cruise to a certain speed and when you approach a car going slower in front of you it automatically slows down keeping a certain distance between you then when that car is no longer in front of you it returns to your cruise control speed without you ever having to step on the brake or gas pedal. I also like the backup camera, and alerts to oncoming cars or objects. The warning light on the side mirrors are helpful to alert you to cars in your blind spot. The front seats are very comfortable with all their adjustments and heat and ac systems. Love the voice command and navigation system. Really enjoy the sun and moon roof. Another perk I enjoy is the automatic windshield wipers that come on when water hits the windshield. This size of SUV seems to be the perfect size for my lifestyle. It accommodates my grandchildren well and still has plenty of room to transport large items with third row seat down. Love the automatic push button storage seat system. I also enjoy the size of the large touch screen as compared to some of the newer models with a. Smaller touch screen. I like the key bob and the push button start. You still have a push button code on the outside of door if you do not have key fob. It will not allow you to accidentally lock key fob in car. On this particular year model 2012, the hazard light button is placed directly below the radio and touch screen controls which causes you to accidently hit it often. Bad design on that part. The middle and back seats are stiff and not very comfortable. I have also experienced wind noise coming from front windshield when traveling on interstate and when wind is hitting it in a certain way. The leather stitching on front door armrest has started to come apart. Not particularly fond of the body style. I have a white one but wish the white color had more of a paralyzed affect and not such a common white color.

My car drives very smoothly, helps me get from point a to point b. It has really cool features where I can change colors in my car to different colors of the rainbow. It can pick up speed easily and brakes work amazing too. It has leather seats. Is had both heated and ac seats. Connects to multiple phones on Bluetooth where I can play music with one phone and also have my phone connected to the Bluetooth. Has a very clear backup camera. If I want to put up the very back seats I can just press a button and it automatically put the seats up. To put them down I just press the button again and decline.

I find my explorer to be very comfortable to drive and I feel that my family would be well protected in the event of an accident. It has been very reliable for the most part other than a few issues with the motorcraft battery going dead on me without reason. It drives and handles very well even in bad weather. I do have an ongoing issue with the rack on top leaking down into my back hatch and into the spare tire compartment which has caused a foul odor and molding which has been difficult to get rid of. We have a large family and can easily and comfortably fit 7 people in the vehicle and still have plenty of leg room as well as room for our belongings. I like that all of the seats in the back fold down to make room accessible to haul larger items if needed. The back up camera is a plus that I have never had before and I enjoy it other than the beeper going off even when you aren't very close to anything. The camera is not overly large and distracting like some others I have seen in other explorers. Also I have had a few problems with sensors coming on and going off at random time the check engine and air bag but overall the vehicle has performed very well. It goes fast when I want to and stops well when I need to. When it's time to purchase another vehicle is most likely will lean toward another explorer or similar SUV.

I love the roll out steps when the door opens. It took me a few weeks to slow down when getting in so I would not hit my chins on it. I live in Arizona and having the personal air-conditioning seat is amazing! The armrests are hard and odd shaped. They do not fit me. The passenger side in the front seat has little space for foot placement. Something you kind of notices but you are not sure what you are uncomfortable about until you are driving for a long distance. It makes the ride uncomfortable. All leather is not the same. Sad but true. Still a reliable vehicle.

This car runs very smoothly on the road. It is extremely comfortable and fits many passengers. I enjoy the overall design and features included in this model. It is ideal for road trips with the family or friends. Although, I do wish it was better on the mileage. I would prefer something slightly more eco-friendly. But besides that it is an exceptional vehicle. It is quite reliable and I have not had to take it to the shop since I bought it. The seats are comfortable and are able to be adjusted. For the price it is a reliable and comfortable vehicle.

This explorer seems to have problems all the time but is still a great vehicle. It has Bluetooth, which is great, but seems to only want to work half the time. The seats are comfy and the two front seats can be adjusted. The heat and AC are quite good, they cool the car or heat it up pretty quickly. The back camera seems to have issues as well sometimes. It comes in a variety of colors, the speakers are pretty average. You can get messages and calls and answer in the vehicle. The radio connection is very strong. The car can take some beating.

I purchased this vehicle in 2015 as a used vehicle with 70k miles on it. I've owned a few cars before this purchase and have never had as many problems as I have with my explorer. I'm thankful that a lot of the issues I experienced were due to recalls on the vehicle so majority of the expenses were covered, however the inconvenience of having my vehicle in a shop often was unfortunate. I love the design and look of my explorer. My family has more than enough room in this vehicle. My explorer has a lot of built in technology, that when working is awesome. However, more so than not it isn't working. My backup camera is a blessing, but blacks out now and pops a message to contact my dealership to fix it. Kids loved the TVs in the headsets up until they stopped working as well. I love my explorer but finding it harder and harder to love for a SUV that breaks down often due to recalls and is losing all the technology I bought it for. The leather interior starts to pull apart on the seams on the inside of the driver door and foam leaks out. The vehicle handles great in any type of weather, I live in the Midwest and have horrible winters. I don't worry as much in the winter when driving with my explorer because it handles well. I love my explorer and want to get a brand new one in two years but the amount of things I'm having to fix and that are failing makes me wonder if I should go with another make instead of ford.

My 2012 ford explorer limited is perhaps the most comfortable vehicle for traveling that I have ever had the pleasure of driving. My wife and I have taken several long range trips in the explorer and have enjoyed its comforts every mile. Additionally, my explorer, though actually built in 2011, is equipped with safety equipment that is still not available in many of the vehicles that have been built in 2020, giving us mental comfort that defies measurement.

I am only 5'1 and have always been nervous about driving a larger vehicle. I do not feel that I can not handle this SUV. It is not to big on the road and I have never had any problems parking, staying in the lines, going through construction. It is a safe vehicle and my kids enjoy being high enough in their seats to be able to see everything we pass by out the window. I love the backup camera, I honestly am lost when I get in a car without one now! Fairly priced car, but feels top of the line. I have no reason not to purchase the same SUV in a few years.

The 2012 ford explorer has terrible gas mileage, only getting about 14-16 mpg. The radio no longer works and we've had to replace almost every major part of this vehicle. I am comparing this to an older model car that I own, in which I have not had to replace any major parts. The amount of space has been decent for our family of five, but will not be sufficient when we have our fourth child. We do like that we can adjust the seats into cargo mode and haul larger items.

I love the comfort of the vehicle for everyone in the car. The dash features and colors look so sharp and top of the line. You can change the interior colors of your cupholders and under the seats and dash with the push of a button. I needed a 3rd row for my growing family and found that the explorer offered the most comfort in the 3rd row and provided the most space between rows. There are buttons in the back to adjust the 3rd row which are all automatic and allow one side up, down or all the way down for more storage. Even with the 3rd row seats up there is plenty of storage in the back for groceries, a stroller, etc. This is a solid, well made vehicle and definitely my favorite I have ever owned.

I purchased this vehicle with high mileage as a vehicle just to help get me through the winter. I've kept it many months longer than I expected. The engine performs great, lots of power even for a 7 passenger vehicle. The seats are fairly comfortable for longer trips. And gas mileage is very good, again for a vehicle its size. The transmission seems to be holding up well given that the vehicle has nearly 200k miles on it. I expect I'll have to do some repairs in the near future if I decide to keep it. I'd like more features, like Bluetooth or a backup camera. And given how much the car costs brand new I'm surprised those features weren't included. Otherwise I'm very happy with it and am actually considering buy a brand new explorer when this one finally gives up on me.
