Performance is excellent with the upgraded engines, the cabin is quieter than many other trucks, and the F-150 offers a class-leading maximum towing capacity.

There are more mechanical problems than some newer models, the base V6 engine is very weak, and the technology is outdated compared to other full size trucks.

Great vehicle that is as good as it has been advertised. Will definitely buy another one in the future
I like how spacious it is. I also like how it drives down the road. I also like how comfortable it is regardless of where I am sitting

The mirrors make no blind spot. Has a lot of tork.
Heated cooled seats. Plenty of room. Big bed. Bad elbow joints. Good navigation. Very good and easy towing. Low gas mileage. I had a couple problems with the o2 sensors. The reverse camera senses the trailer hitch and beeps. I love the leather seats.

After four years, I still consider my truck to be the best on the road.
I love my truck. It is actually the Ford raptor on the f150. It provides a go anywhere kind of feeling. I love that I sit up higher than most cars on the road. It is also very comfortable with leather seats which are both heated and cooled. Other features include a sunroof, cruise control, navigation, Bluetooth that allows me to connect my phone for music. The only thing I do not like about the truck is it is full economy. . . I get about 12 mpg. I would highly recommend the truck!

4x4 worth every penny! It is also got amazing get up and go.
It often downshifts to first gear out of nowhere. The check engine light comes on a lot because of the catalytic converter. It's a great vehicle to have - moving things, buying large home items and having two kids in sports with all their gear. My husband uses it as a work truck and it is been very reliable. He's put over 200k miles on it as well. This is our third f-150 and we will get another one when the one we have hits the end.

It's fast! Has a ecoboost engine. So much room inside
Absolutely love the gas mileage, how much room inside, rides smooth

I love my ford pick up truck.
I am a big fan of the ford f-150. It is a great work truck and it drives well in inclement weather, including rain and snow. The gas mileage is not bad and I imagine the newer models have more amenities. In my opinion, ford has really stepped up against competition from the other truck makers. I like the classic look of the ford pickup truck and it drives well. When I purchase another pick up truck, it’ll be a ford.

I feel that it's very safe and reliable. It's a trustworthy vehicle.
It's quite comfortable. I think it's very nice looking. It's very reliable.

Ford crew cab is extremely versatile.
Have not had any major problems. Would like to get better gas mileage, but love trucks over cars. I feel safer in a truck than a car. My truck is a crew cab which gives me the ability to take my grandkids with me. I've been driving Ford trucks for 30 plus years.

Somehow in 8 years it has not broken down.
The transmission is shot. There was a recall on it and it is been fixed twice and it still has problems. Speedometer does not work half the time so good luck driving the speed limit. The a/c goes out on me a lot so it is not worth driving in the summer.

Not a satisfied customer. Truck jerks in mid driving.
My issue with my f-150 is with the transmission I am going to assume since when I am driving it will jerk like it's trying to either downshift or something crazy. My last f-150 did the same exact thing. I have contacted ford motor company and have never gotten a response. I most likely will never buy another f150 again.

Ford is not what it used to be.
It died on the road while driving across country, this vehicle has the accessory of the automatic start button and shuts off, when this was taken to a Ford dealership they refuse to help us during this time as we're moving across country being stranded in a state we were not familiar with, please keep in mind we also have three children in the blistering hot sun.

Rust all over on a 2012
Absolutely not because its rusting already on wheel fender and bottom of cab. I just can't believe how bad it is.

Major problem with the Ford F150
There’s a major problem that Ford needs to address with the 2012 and many other year models. There are many complaints Ford is very well aware of these issues and still no recalls. There is a crank but no start problem which has costed its customers a great deal of money time loss wages and some have even lost their jobs over these all of a sudden no start issues. I’m deeply disappointed in Ford, I come from a long line generation that Ford was the only trustworthy automotive to buy. Starting with my great grandfather whom purchased a model T but I guess things are not what they used to be including my trust in Ford sad very sad. If your considering a Ford, I suggest don’t.

High sitting smooth ride, but not made for short people.
It's a gas hog, didn't come with a cap, or cover. Really hard to get things from there. Starter seems to be going bad. It does ride smooth.

What Problems Does the 2012 Ford F-150 Have?

The 2012 Ford F-150 has an average number of complaints compared to the other half-ton trucks released the same year. There are fewer problems than the newer 2013 model.

Engine problems, leading to a loss of power while driving, are the most common issue. Owners report throttle body and fuel pump failures cause the problems. Repairing the issue can cost over $2,000, depending on the failed components and local labor rates.

Power steering system problems are another frequent complaint. The electronic power steering system from Ford is a weak component, failing frequently across many vehicles. Replacing the entire steering assembly costs about $2,300.

Rear windows shattering while driving is another issue mentioned by owners. The issue is not very common, but the defroster seems to be a culprit in some cases. Replacing the window fixes the issue, costing about $600.

There are 4 recalls, which is better than some other trucks from the same year. The recalls include the occupant classification system, the drive indicator lights, and transmission downshifting. All are serious and can cause dangerous situations when they’re not addressed.

A properly cared for 2012 Ford F-150 will last about 300,000 miles, which is good for a full size truck. Regular annual maintenance costs are more expensive than many half ton rivals. Repair Pal estimates them to be $893 per year.

accountCircle Jordon L

Yes it is reliable. The few issues I have had with it are due to just normal wear and tear and are nothing that I wouldn't expect from other vehicles at this point.

accountCircle Diane E

My truck has had no major problems, starts every time when I need it to, have had the brakes done and 2 tires replaced.

accountCircle Jake G

Very reliable. I haven't had any major issues. It has never broken down before. It has always started up and I have never had a problem.

accountCircle Bill F

Mine had been reliable thus far, but as I have mentioned before I have only had it for 5 months. It is also road worthy.

accountCircle I B

Very reliable no major problems. I keep an eye to it make minor repairs and always making sure everything functions its supposed to.

accountCircle Ty H

No problems have been experienced by me up to date. I enjoy this truck a lot. Only thing is that it costs a lot to fill up with gas.

accountCircle Amanda O

No problems I cannot change the tire myself but that's happened maybe twice since I have had the truck. Ball joints replaced once.

accountCircle Monique P

Our f150 has been very reliable. We haven't had any problems with it even when our teenagers were driving it. It is a tough truck.

What Technology & Safety Features Are Included?

Technology is very basic on entry-level models, but improves as you work your way through the lineup. Even with all of the technology packages, there are still fewer features than many other trucks.

  • Base technology includes a simple 4-speaker AM/FM stereo system in the XL model, and adds CD and AUX playback to the XLT model.
  • Upgrades include a Ford SYNC infotainment system, 8-inch touchscreen interface, Bluetooth and USB connections, navigation, as well as 6, 7, and 9-speaker stereos.
  • Standard safety features include antilock disc brakes, airbags, trailer sway control, as well as traction and stability control. Optional upgrades include the SOS crash system, which will notify Ford in the event of an accident.

What Engine Options are Available?

Performance in the 2012 Ford F-150 is excellent for a full size truck. The fastest motor is the twin-turbo V6, which takes 6.5 seconds to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour. Towing is a strong-suit for the truck as well, pulling a class-leading 11,300 pounds with the 6.2L V8 or 3.5L V6.

  • The base engine is a 3.7L V6 with 302 horsepower and 278 lb.-ft. of torque.
  • An optional upgrade is the 5.0L V8, which has 360 horsepower and 380 lb.-ft. of torque.
  • Next in the lineup is the twin-turbo V6 producing 365 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque.
  • The flagship engine is the 6.2L V8, which makes 411 horsepower and 434 lb.-ft. of torque.

What Color Options are Available?

How Big is the F-150?

The 2012 Ford F-150 is a half-ton truck, and is similar in size to a lot of the competitors including the Silverado and Ram 1500 series. There are three cabin choices available including a 2-door regular cab, 4-door SuperCab, and larger 4-door SuperCrew. Passenger room is excellent in the SuperCrew cab, but is a bit cramped for adults in the backseats of the SuperCab.

How Does the 2012 Ford F-150 Compare to Other Trucks?

Ranking 10th out of 15 full size trucks, based on owner reviews, the 2012 Ford F-150 is in the lower half of the class.

The highest-rated half ton truck from 2012 is the more expensive Toyota Tundra. Where the Tundra stands out is with a standard V8 engine, and better reliability ratings. The F-150, on the other hand, has a higher towing capacity, and more customization choices offering better luxury and off-road performance. Overall, the Tundra is a longer-lasting truck, but the F-150 is more capable and fun.

A close competitor is the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, which has a higher starting price. The Chevy is a more affordable truck to own long-term with fewer expensive services, and has a higher-quality interior. Where the Ford stands out is with the off-road performance of the Raptor, and the ability to pull more weight. Choosing between the two trucks ultimately comes down to personal preference.

My First
I have always wanted a F-150 truck since my brother let me drive his F-150 when I was 18. I fell in love with getting my own F-150 truck. I bought “My First” 2012 F-150 Lariat 4x4 8cyl 5.0. When I tell you it drives great and looks good. I call my F-150 “Big W”.

Super spacious and comfortable truck.
Haven't had any problems yet. Performance is great. Could use more horsepower. Super comfortable vehicle with lots of room in the back seat. Not the loaded package but still nice. It is nice to have the lift up middle console to seat 6. Super reliable so far only had to replace battery once.

My ford f150 and what it means to me.
Great mileage for a truck and very spacious for a truck. The power it has is great for the mountains and back roading. Took it for a trip out of state (cross country) and was good on gas only had to fill up twice from Colorado to Tennessee. Would like to get newer model when I have the money.

I love how smooth the ride is and comfortable it is.
The display screen on dash went out a couple weeks after I purchased the vehicle. Now I cannot see the mileage. The back seat is a little small for 3 car seats but it does the job. It is very reliable and the 4x4 works really well. It drives really smooth and it is never given us a real issue.

My ford f150 has been good for me.
It is been a good truck that has met my needs for all the ways I have used it. Through the cloth seats are not as durable as need to be in a truck, the body has been durable through all I have put it through. Good maintenance habits keep it in good running condition.

The ford f150 is a tough and reliable truck for work purposes.
It is a reliable vehicle, and it has not had many major issues over the years. My dad has worked that truck a lot in yard work and fixing up properties, so it is been through the wringer and it is still working just fine. It is comfortable, though the back is kind of small, and I do not much enjoy the suicide doors. In terms of performance, it has enough power and speed to do the job. It does not have many fancy features above a CD player, but it is not enough.

Reliability and versatility make the f-150 a great truck to own.
I have had a good experience owning this truck. It has not caused any problems besides regular service it has provided great reliability. The truck is very roomy and comfortable with 4 doors and plenty of room for backseat passengers to sit comfortably. It is really like having an SUV with a truck bed on it so it's very versatile. The engine has lots of power and torque, which is one of the best selling features on the truck. The 3.5 liter ecoboost twin turbo is a powerhouse of a motor that has been very reliable.

I am happy with the performance. I can trust my truck to get me where I am going. It is getting up in the years but still just keeps chugging along. Comfortable spacious f-150.
Very comfortable truck. It has lots of space and it do not get terrible gas mileage. Seats 5 comfortably. Drivers seat has 2 memory buttons that can be set for the seat both outside mirrors and the adjustable pedals. Adjustable pedals are extra helpful for short people. Drivers seat also moves up and down. Heated and air conditioned front seats with dual controls. Auxiliary plug, with two cigarette lighter ports and USB port in the front. Electric plug and cigarette lighter port in the back. Middle of back seat comes down with cup holders. Cup holders also in every door. 2 cup holders in the front and 2 in the back in the council as well.

The f-150 with a 5.0 v8 runs great very comfortable, has more room than you need. It's great on fuel for a truck this size and capabilities. Tows anything you need to tow with plenty of power. Third brake lights are known to leak so should be replaced. Most will run over 300k without major issues.

2012 black ford f150, custom wheels. Will easily haul a boat or go offroad!
I love how much room there is inside the truck. In my backseat floorboard I have a foldable carrying case that holds groceries or whatever I have been shopping for. I also have plenty of room to carry a large shopping cart with wheels to carry everything from my truck to my house. I love the size of the bed also. I can haul all kinds of things. I do wish that the bed had one of those new fold down steps or at least a step on the side to make it easier to get up in the bed. I have pulled a travel trailer with my truck with no problem. We also just bought a 24' pontoon boat and my truck has no problem pulling it. The front and back seats are full size, so I can take my teenage grandkids with me and there is more than enough room. The air conditioning vents are a little cheap and they come off easily. The console is huge and I can carry a lot of things in it. I would definitely recommend this truck to anyone that is in the market for a truck.

If I had to get a new truck it would be another ford 150 is the best. I love having back seats for the kids in bed to haul enough room for everyone and everything.

Love everything about it!
I love the size and room in the vehicle. It is easy to drive and rides very smooth. A few of my favorite features that I love include the keypad on the door and the 110 outlet. The rearview camera, Bluetooth, and navigational unit is also used often.

It has a very Comfortable ride with great visibility.
I like the way it rides, the options. I like the power, payload, gas mileage. I am not very fond of the color.

Although it is a very dependable and comfortable vehicle it is a gas guzzler. It takes quite a bit of money to fill the gas tank.
I like the comfort and roominess of my F-150. I also appreciate that since it is a 4x4 I can go places that other vehicles may not be able to go. It has been a great family vehicle offering plenty of storage space on long trips.

The amazing gas mileage of the truck has saved me hundreds of dollars a month.
My 2012 F-150 is my dream truck. It has plenty of power with the 3.5l ecoboost engine and is very luxurious with the lariat package. With the lariat package I get heated and cooled leather seats. The only issue i have had with the truck was with its coil packs.

Ford f-150 fx4 ecoboost truck.
I drive a 2012 ford f-150 ecoboost. It is a twin turbo six cylinder. It has a 6” lift and it rides on 33” tires. She’s a real panty dropper. The only thing I do not like about it is the gas mileage. But we do not say miles per gallon we prefer to say smiles per mile. Makes the weekly trip to the gas station less painful. Everything else about the truck I love. Gets up and goes. No problem towing with the 6 cylinder and it looks great. One of a kind truck.

Hand free use of phone and ability to carry my wheelchairs.
Is big enough to be able to carry any of my electric wheelchairs is also roomy enough in the front to be able to place my crutches for shorter trips when I do not need my chairs. I also have Sirius radio and am able to listen to my music without ads I have had no problems with the truck up to this point the truck tells me when any of the tires are having problems like low tire pressure and when I am getting to the point that I need to have the oil change also has the power to climb the mountains around here and the cruise control keeps the truck staying at the speed I have set the leg room is just right and the comfort of the interior and the drink holder is convenient so I do not have to search and feel around for my coffee and I can set my phone on the trucks control and I will have hands-free phone use.

2012 ford f-150, standard cab.
We purchased this vehicle used to it could have been in part due to the previous owners level of maintenance but it seems like this truck is falling apart. The back doors will no longer open, the rearview window is leaking so every time it rains the back floods with water. It has some sort of issue in the engine where the rpms shoot up and the engine revs really loudly in idle. And its rusted quite easily around the wheel wells.

Truck runs great with very few issues over the years.
Well made. Runs great. Great for getting through winter snow.

Tons of storage my wife says it feels like she's driving around in a hotel.
Love all the new tech XM radio trial was great ended up getting a subscription. The f150 is great for camping, the extended cab gives me room to hold my family of four, the bed is large enough to move big appliances and the protective lining prevents permanent damage to the actual frame love my f150.

Good truck but poor gas mileage.
The truck is very nice. It does well with hauling everything we need for the family and the animals we have. The biggest problems with it are that it is a tight squeeze with two kids. It has poor gas mileage. I would love a truck that does have better gas mileage and more room in the back seat.

Ford feedback for f150 trucks.
The door locks knobs are cheap plastic and snap off the door handles on the inside of the truck is cheap made be careful they will snap the cable and the truck is too light hit a pothole and end up sideways. Other than that no complaints good strong motor.
