Reliability
Would I recommend a GrandGherokee? Well, my first 'rokee was a 76 S model, then a 94 LTD, 95 LTD, 98 LTD, and now a 2005 LTD Hemi. I also have a 2006 custom Wrangler built up for off-roading. Needless to say, my wife "owns" my GC... My review is more of a correction of misconceptions in other peoples reviews, being an "old hand" at owning AND working on these workhorses in tuxedos. Yes the 8 cylinder engine versions do drink more than the 6's do there is a reason for that. They put out more torque, essentially for heavier towing than the 6 cylinders. Increasing the octane of the fuel does help, despite what the so-called eperts claim. I've spent years and hundreds of thousands of miles proving this, not only in Grand Cherokees but in High-Performance Street Rods as well. In the Hemi, the owner manual specifies midgrade (silver) gasoline. Use regular and MPG drops by 3 to 4 miles per gallon (driving by tac). The next issue is the shimmy at highway speeds. This is commonly called "the death wobble" and it happens on all 4wd vehicles that do NOT have independent front suspensions. Jeeps that are susceptible to this are those that are the ones built for brute strength. It is a symptom of a bad front end alignment. Nothing more. Take care of it before it messes up your front tires that's it for that shimmy. The next point is leaking sun roofs. Go to your local home improvement store and buy a generic roll of star-shaped nylon weed wacker replacement line. Open your sun roof all the way and clean out the gutter all around the frame in the roof. While cleaning it you will find 4 holes meant to drain water out of the gutter. Check the weed wacker string to make sure it fits into these holes without knocking the drain hose off the other side if its too big exchange it (I've found the "standard size" to work fine). Cut an 8 foot piece off the roll and feed this down the drain hole, turning it all the way around as you"snake" out this drain. IF you see the end of it under the car by all means, pull it through! If not, push a fresh piece (uncut) through until it hits the ground, and then cut it about 2 ft above the roof. The reason for 2 pieces is the short piece can be cut to a sharpened if needed if the drain becomes hard-packed and even turned by a rechargeable drill if you need to.( I only had to do this once) On to the heated seats. First, check the power connector under the seat, (google it's location) and check with a METER, (put the probe tips into the back of the connector first on the seat side and a second time on the switch side) to see if it is getting voltage when you turn the switch for it on. If you are reading power (12V) on both sides of the connector the warming element in the seat is broken and is extremely difficult to replace. Ive seen people buy heated seat pads, cut the cales for them off, and then cut the seat side of the connector for the seat heater off and wire that to the seat pad and plug that back in under the seat, running it under the seat adjuster rail so they don't cut the wire with the electric seat. This puts the control and timer right on the dashboard next to the other control. These are the issues Ive dealt with and how I fixed them and how I helped others.I'm 62 years old and enjoy working on cars, Ive worked on my Grand Cherokees LESS than any other vehicles have ever owned, with the exception of doing custom sound and communications installations (I'm a ham radio operator) I cant recommend a Grand Cherokee enough to anyone Especially living on the shore of Lake Michigan!

It drives well in the snow.
I really enjoy how i can drive this car well in snow. That was the main reason i purchased this jeep. I dislike the gas usage.

Great vehicle with 1 expensive issue.
It's a great SUV but this year has been known to have transmission problems and I had to replace mine with less than 140k mi. Other than that it's amazing. Off-road snow dry dirt it does great anywhere you need to go and even my 6 cylinder is capable of towing small campers and toys.

That sensors go bad often. I have to get something fixed at least once a year.
I love my Jeep but It's expensive to fix, the sensors go out a few times a year and It's not good on gas. I love how great it is in all weather and how safe it is.

The 2005 Jeep Grand-Cherokee is a durable, multi-purpose SUV.
I bought it used 5 years ago with 100,000 miles on it. It has held up well into 200,000 miles with basic maintenance and few problems.

Big con: what's really wrong with Jeep manufacturing.
Interior feels and is proven to be cheap. Only real coma pints would have to be that and the a/c. What I really do not get as well is that the interior is shockingly cheap, unlike other Jeeps I've seen. My door handles are almost completely gone since my initial purchase.

Jeeps are awesome vehicles, roomy powerful and stylish
I love the engine size and power it has. It's roomy interior is also "rugged " enough for my boys. The back hatch is very roomy also and has potential to haul a load or even pull a trailer.

The adventurer's companion.
The car has lasted about 170k miles with very little problems aside from regular routine maintenance. I has a great amount of storage and space for its semi compact size. It gets pretty good gas mileage as well. Especially on the highway. It's a very comfortable sport vehicle that fits plenty of people with room for all your gear, I have stuffed mine with an unexpectedly large amount of stuff.

It is a tank. You never have to worry about another car doing damage to you. I've gotten rear ended twice and both times only a small dent has appeared.
A lot of the parts for my jeep don't last and I end up having to spend money on aftermarket parts.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, an excellent SUV
Jeep GCL has all the features you could want in an SUV, off roading is amazing, this has enough space to fit my family of 5, this GCL has a V8 HEMI so the fuel economy around town is not the greatest but overall I love everything about my Jeep and wouldn't have it any other way.

The most important quality about the Jeep grand Cherokee 2005 is reliability and durability. I currently have over 232, 000 miles, and have not had any major issues with engine or transmission. Only wear and tear items to be replaced.

Really good all-around car! Many uses! Very roomie on the inside! Drives nice! I would highly recommend if you want an affordable SUV that can perform many various tasks, and still feel safe inside. Depending on the model you get the price can vary but if you want something basic I would height suggest this car.

Summary: an all-around great vehicle. Highlight: exterior still looks brand new.
I like how my Jeep rides. It is a smooth ride. It is reliable year round. It has heated seats, sunroof, a back seat that lowers so I can put large items in the back area. It is low maintenance. The exterior of the Jeep still looks brand new. The only issue I have is that the gas mileage could be better. It drops in the winter months and during local driving. It is best when I drive highway miles.

2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited
The car is great! Very comfortable, fun to drive and it does very well in the snow. It is extremely reliable. The front seats have warmers, the A/C works a little to well, for me anyway. The windows have a slight tint which keeps the interior from fading. The rear seats fold down for loading bigger items, there is also a roof rack. This model has a towing system, I've only towed once but it was a breeze. There is traction control which is great for wet roads. And also, a back up alert system (this is before backup cameras). The car came with a stock stereo system and the sound is great! There is also a phone answering device, this is pre-Bluetooth but it works well and informs when you have an incoming call.

Comfortable and reliable vehicle
It's very comfortable to drive. It has a dim setting on the rearview mirror to enhance visibility from the headlights on the car behind you. It has heated side view mirrors. The water pump and belt did need to be replaced, which is apparently common. Another common problem is that the interior door handles and sunglasses holder are not very sturdy, they cracked and broke pretty easily after a few years. I wish it had an auxiliary port for the radio, but the setup of the console is nice. Gas mileage isn't great.

Great overall SUV for everyday use, but typical SUV gas mileage.
This is a good midsize SUV for general purposes. I have never tried any real off reading with it, but it handles just fine in everyday use. The back seats fold down and the front seats recline all the way back, so it would be great for camping or a road trip. It does have rather low gas mileage, being a V8, though. The windshield is also somewhat small and the space between the windshield and the front side windows is a bit thick, making a blindspot that is larger than I'd like. It takes some getting used to, but overall I have no other complaints.

Jeep-2005 grand Cherokee or things gone bad.
We had a problem with our 2005 Jeep that cost $2000 to repair. The whole underside needed repair. The mechanic said it wasn't safe to be on the road. We have also recently replaced the battery and had a new starter put in. The sun roof also had to be fixed for a leak. It seems like it is starting to fall apart.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Lacks in Headspace
I love the amount of storage space I have, but the ceiling of the car is very low, so if I have my hair up on top of my head it will hit the ceiling even though I am not a tall person. Other than the lack of headspace, the car is very comfortable. I haven't had many issues with the vehicle since I've owned it, but I have had several issues with the battery, and every time I get it checked out, I hear similar responses from the mechanic that Jeeps often have battery issues and need attention for that specific issue. I wish it had better gas mileage as well.

Great handling, plenty of room for stuff, good V8 power, but still mostly economical.
Jeep makes it difficult to work on, too many electronic systems that could be handled much more reliably with mechanical systems... Transfer cases, etc. I do love it's off road capability, especially with a simple lift system installed.

Stick with the 2004 or earlier, or a newer model. The 2005 is the weakest of the Grand Cherokees overall.
The 2005 is not as good in any way as the 2004 model that I owned before. Every detail of the vehicle was changed, but not for the better. But spacious and convenient mode of transportation. Transmission is no good.

It might be an oldie, but it is a goodie.
For a vehicle that is 14 years old, my jeep runs quite well. It gets pretty decent gas mileage-I'd say about 20-25 mpg. The back seat folds down in sections, so it is good for hauling stuff and still being able to take passengers. It does have some performance issues when it gets hot out. It idles very roughly, and is absolutely unable to run smoothly on speedway gasoline. My fiance does pretty much all maintenance work himself, and finds it relatively easy to do so. It does seem to go through spark plug replacements a little faster than one would hope. It is seen a lot of miles, and overall is a very comfortable long-haul vehicle.

The Amazing Go-Anywhere, Survive Anything Vehicle.
The beast has four-wheel drive, power steering, a V-eight, and has made 2 long distance trips in the two years we've owned it. We also have heated seats, which for an arthritis sufferer like me is marvelous on cold days. We bought it used, and it has been a mainstay of our lives. It holds my electric mobility device and a month's worth of groceries easily, can go through the deepest snow without getting stuck, and is reasonably showy (for those who like such things.) Having bought it used, we found it had been neglected, yet we were able to continue driving it while making the necessary repairs. On the latest trip home from a long-distance trip, one of the two drive shafts developed a problem, yet we were able to get home safely and drove it about a week before the replacement part came in and we were able to get it fixed. It drives easily and reliably. It's a good vehicle.

It has a v6 engine and has just enough power for the bit of driving I have to do. Had to replace the window opening mechanisms several times which kind of stinks. Also the Jeep was recalled about three times for different issues.

Smooth reliable vehicle with good gas mileage.
I love that it is a smooth ride & can go off-road for 4WD at anytime. It is reliable and the seats are comfortable. The back seat lowers so I can put large items or haul my dogs in the back. The exterior paint job still looks brand new. I like 3 bands of radio channels, the 5cd player and the sunroof.

Reliable jeep grand Cherokee.
My jeep is very reliable and has not given me any real issues besides the routine maintenance like changing the oil and adding coolant or wiper fluid. I am very satisfied with my car and it is provided a good means of transportation for my kids and I. It also gets me to and from work everyday and I travel a lot for work so that is great.

It gets me where I want to go and is a great ride. With an 8 cylinder engine, I have no problem passing on the highway
It goes anywhere, it looks great, it is powerful. No complaints

Very low maintenance until over 180000 miles.
I like my Jeep because it has a lot of room for myself and passengers. It sits high up and I like that feeling when driving. I don't like how old it is and the problems I am now running into with it and the cost of repairs.

Old car with simple problems.
Car is over 10 years old. Has had 2 transmissions. The motors on every window has been replaced several times. Brake booster made of plastic broke recently. Comfortable car to drive. Old but drives well. Leather on seats are tearing even with seat covers for over 7 years. Carpet on roof is starting to wear.

It does have good handling and I feel safe in it. Besides the various issues it has been a good car.
I have had to put a lot of money into it. It seems like it is just falling apart. Each time I fix it, within the month it seems like something else is wrong.

Great and reliable vehicle to own
Great vehicle, no real big problems, easy to maintain. Very reliable runs great. Only gave 4 stars because I would like it to be newer as its starting to have some cosmetic wear.

It is one of the best and most comfortable off road vehicles available.
I like the all wheel drive, the vehicle height, the turn radius, the seats, the notification system, the Bluetooth, GPS, quick acceleration, anti skid system, comfort, color scheme, leather upholstery durability, spacious cargo area, high capacity towing ability, durable roof luggage rack, fold flat rear seats, auxiliary power outlets, DVD entertainment center. Some of my dislikes are noisy ac, difficult to program navigation system, gas mileage. Complaints I have are the serious recalls.

It's been reliable and has never left us stranded.
It's been pretty comfortable overall. I like some of the engineering designs, like the drip pay under the oil filter. My complaints about it all relate to stupid little things, like the sensor in the passenger seat not being calibrated for the airbag.

Jeep Cherokee, a dependable and reliable vehicle.
My Jeep Cherokee is an all wheel drive. We have really bad winters and it always takes a four wheel drive to get out of my driveway. But my Jeep goes right out without spinning a tire. I was, (to say the least) so surprised. I was so proud of my Jeep , because all the neighbors was having a difficult time just driving on the roads, and I never had any difficulties. It goes great. It is dependable and very reliable. I will be getting another one if anything happens to mine.

Jeep grand Cherokee limited 5. 7 hemi.
Just bought it not to long. G ago. Had to fix problem it is been ok but Jeep standard for just empty every pocket! It has a hemi. So it uses a lot of gas. I want a Toyota Tacoma pick up but cannot afford one. My car performs pretty well. Hope this helps.

2005 Jeep grand Cherokee review.
It is very spacious and comfortable. I am able to have up to four riders with me at one time and I still have plenty of enclosed storage space in the back. My particular vehicle is fully loaded with leather seats, seat warmers, and a sun/moonroof. I have only had this vehicle for a few years but the leather and carpet interior is in excellent condition. I have driven this vehicle for multiple trips. The longest has been from Houston to Dallas. The vehicle has 100, 000 miles on it, but with me having each oil change using high mileage oil, it runs extremely well and is very reliable.

Jeep Cherokee review. Works in most weather types.
My car is 14 years old and is still reliable. Being a Jeep Grand Cherokee it can go in most bad weather conditions. It has ample cargo space and provides great backseat legroom. I wish it had built in GPS. Also when say a window has to be replaced, the entire electrical system has to be repaired. No manual override. .

It is low maintenance and long lasting.
It is very reliable and comfortable! Plenty of room. 4w drive is the way to go. Love that we can fit 2 full size car seats.

2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee; Runs like a Champ!
I have the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee all time 4x4. I love this vehicle and the get up that it has. Grant it, this engine is not the best on gas, because it has a hemi, but the power it offers is by far the best I have experienced yet. Yes I know it's a little older but my Jeep looks and drives brand new inside and out. I also have the chrome on the inside and outside, very easy on the eyes.

NICE size suv for the price . Also drives smooth .
My jeep grand Cherokee is a 2005 and it drives good. It's a nice size I hate the fact that it only has 2 outlets which is in front but Great truck

Buy a Jeep - fun to drive and handles well.
I love my Jeep, first one I have ever owned maintenance low and have never really had any major problems. Fun to drive and handles really well, can see in any direction just fine. I have a sunroof which I never had before and absolutely love it. Plenty of legroom and if I need the extra cargo space it is really easy to make the room.

I would say the most important thing to know if you were looking to buy this car, is the gas mileage. If you are on a tight budget and do a lot of city driving, you might pay a lot of extra in gas.
I love my vehicle because even though It's 13 years old and has about 150,000 miles on it, it still is going strong with only normal wear and tear repairs needed. I feel very safe in it and it gets me where I need to go. The one complaint I would say is that it does not get great gas mileage.
