The overall quality of the components and manufacturing process.
Quality of the manufacturing, strength of the components, style, color, comfort and safety.. Dislikes? Gas mileage could be better, an electric version should be offered..

A great crossover. Sleek profile.
This Mazda gets great mileage on the highways and interstates. Anywhere from 26 mpg to over 30 mpg. I drive at least 50 miles daily for work, so this is decent. There's plenty of space in the cargo area for groceries and such. The sunroof is perfect for those mild days.
accountCircle Deb T
Great mid-size SUV with lots of cargo space.
We have never had any problem with it. The cargo space is great. Love driving it. The gas mileage is good also. The only things we've done to it since we've had it is new tires, battery, oil and filter, cabin filter. Just normal service like oil changes etc. Very comfortable to drive or ride in.

Did homework & make/model/year had high consumer ratings for year I purchased.
I like the safety features, durability, and price. Dislike lack of rear gate open/close button on dashboard and auto-open feature for rear gate. Also dislike lack of larger moon roof.

Affordable, reliable, safe family car!
The Mazda cx5 is the best car I have ever owned. It is a super smooth ride with a luxury interior that you would expect to see on a much more expensive car. It is reliable, safe and very fuel efficient. We have taken multiple road trips all over the united states with two dogs and two children under the age of 4 with no problems. I highly recommend this vehicle to anyone who is looking for a affordable crossover. .

Great family car! It is safe, reliable, great gas mileage and low maintenance. We have taken multiple cross country road trips with two dogs and two kids under the age of 4 and the car has performed perfectly. I recommend this vehicle to all of my friends!

Excellent vehicle for the money. Attractive and a pleasure to drive.
My Mazda cx-5 is very comfortable and is a pleasure to drive. It gets excellent gas mileage and is a very attractive vehicle, which I have received many compliments on. It is a reliable vehicle, and I have never had any problems with it mechanically, just a recall on the rear door latch.

An SUV that is fun to drive.
The car has a lot of pep for an SUV. It has been very reliable for the last 5 years. It is a pleasure to drive. There is plenty of room in front and back. My only complaint would be that the back seat length is too short to fit a baby’s car seat. I would recommend this car.

Don't buy it. Not worth the money. The company has misleading information in the large print. Do get gap insurance though.
The paint was bad from start. Damaged but they repaired the damage surfaced again. Warranty bad. They touted 100000 bumper to bumper. You think this is U.S. That means miles but when it comes up at 80000 with problem first they say yes covered then it's sorry yours is km. The back windows can't be open alone. There's a loud thrumming noise. No vanity lights over mirror or in glovebox. Lots of buttons on dash, radio area but they don't work. I thought we had nav and satellite radio, but no don't work. Very misleading. My transmission went at 80000. My brother's engine blew at about then too. Neither is covered.

Its compact and fits into tight spaces and, fairly decent on gas and them some.
It doesn't hold any value to the vehicle. I would do more research of vehicles that hold value to them. Not made for large occupants ot tall ones. Does have a recall on it that Mazda will fix. The seat motor goes out on it too soon causing it to get stuck in one place.
accountCircle Jay W
The ample space is the best part.
My cx-5 is less than 5 years old is not a car I would buy again. The traction on wet roads was the first issue followed by the poor interior construction(parts keep falling off from under the console, the armrest will not like up properly.) The ride was smooth when it was new but gradually declined. Pick up is slow from a stop but braking has been consistently positive. The car takes synthetic oil which does make maintaining it pretty easy. Maintenance and tires are relatively inexpensive and regular costs are on par with a Toyota. Trunk and interior space is large enough to move medium to large items (I.E. 2-3 large suitcases and 2 grown men in the back). Had a sunroof added in after market which makes this car a better experience.

Beware of the rear differential. Could cost you a couple of thousand $
Seating position is uncomfortable. Rear differential and wheel hubs went bad 100 miles past the 60,000 mile powertrain warranty. The car is fun to drive and does have excellent handling and climate control.

Comfortable, reliable SUV.
The Mazda c5 is a comfortable, family SUV. It has enough space for 5 people. It drives nicely. The trunk space is spacious. We have not had any major problems. It is reliable and gets good mileage. This model has a rear view camera. It would be nice to hair air vents for the row of seats in the back.

2015 Mazda car experience.
The car has great mileage I will not even lie. The longer I have had it does allow me to see the issues it comes with. The car sluggishly drives sometimes making it hard to make turns. This is very concerning due to this being a safety issue. The cars trunk does have sufficient storage space. It is great for long distance rides.

What Do Critics Say About the Mazda CX-5?

  • Edmunds gives the CX-5 a 3.9/5 praising the fuel-efficient engine choices, but doesn’t like the weak base motor.

What Common Problems Does the 2015 Mazda CX-5 Have?

Common problems found on the 2015 Mazda CX-5 include cracked windshields, Bluetooth connectivity issues, and shifting roughly between gears. Overall, these problems are average for a compact SUV from 2015, with similar repair costs as well.

Cracked windshields are a common problem reported by owners on the 2015 Mazda CX-5. The original windshields are more prone to cracking than on other compact SUVs due to some manufacturing defects. Changing out the windshield for around $500 fixes the problem if it cracks.

Bluetooth connectivity issues show up on some CX-5 models in the first 1,000 miles. There’s a software update dealerships can install on the stereo system, which improves the reliability of the Bluetooth system. Installing the software is easy, many dealerships install them for free, while others charge about $40.

Shifting roughly between gears is a rare problem mentioned by a few owners at around 75,000 miles. There are some issues with the synchro rings which lead to the transmission feeling rough as it changes gears. Some owners rebuild the transmission for around $1,200, while others replace it, which costs $3,000.

There are 4 recalls on the 2015 Mazda CX-5, which is average compared to other SUVs from the same year. The most serious recall covers the fuel filler pipe, which can rupture in the event of a crash. Mazda will replace the pipe on affected models for free. Other recalls cover the rear liftgate, as well as an under-torqued bolt.

How Long Will the 2015 Mazda CX-5 Last?

A well-maintained 2015 Mazda CX-5 should last around 250,000 miles, which is only about 50,000 miles less than the top-rated Toyota RAV4. Regular annual maintenance costs are lower than average according to data provided by Repair Pal at $432 per year.

Since nearly all 2015 Mazda CX-5 models on the market will have over 100,000 miles buyers should be prepared to replace the blower motor resistors for $125, the water pump costing $600, and the transmission mounts which cost $250.

It has been very reliable! No problems yet in the 4 years we have happily owned it. We have kept up on the routine maintenance and it continues to run smoothly.

accountCircle Tiffany N

The AWD is very good in snow and rain. The blind spot is terrible though, because the back windows are so small.

Entertainment technology is good in the 2015 Mazda CX-5 with an available touchscreen stereo system, Bluetooth, along with a nice stereo system. Safety technology is good as well with an optional rearview camera, and a forward collision warning system which will automatically brake.

What Are the Differences Between Years?

The first generation of the Mazda CX-5 was introduced in 2013, and replaced by the second generation in 2017.

2013: First year the Mazda CX-5 was offered as a brand new model.

2014: larger engine for Touring & Grand Touring, collision warning & mitigation system added.

2015: Keyless entry standard on Touring & Grand Touring models.

2016: Minor exterior styling changes, improved interior, better suspension, updated stereo system.

2017: Fully redesigned for the second generation with new exterior, interior, and technology.

How Does the Mazda CX-5 Compare to the Competition?

The Mazda CX-5 is better than a lot of other compact SUVs. It offers a more upscale interior as well as powerful and reliable engines which earns our recommendation for shoppers.

The Toyota RAV4 is another small SUV available which costs about $3,000 more. Off-road performance is a bit better in the Toyota RAV4, while interior materials are much nicer in the Mazda CX-5. We recommend the Toyota RAV4 since they last a bit longer, although both are excellent choices.

The Subaru Forester is a competitor which is available for around $1,000 more. Standard all-wheel-drive is better in the Subaru Forester, however, the Mazda CX-5 has more technology available. We recommend the Mazda CX-5 since there are fewer engine problems compared to the Subaru Forester.

Get yourself a Mazda, you will not regret it.
Love this car. Runs very quiet, which is a nice change from my previous car. Impressive gas mileage on and off highway, which helps me save money throughout the week. Easy to find controls needed to safely drive the car. Only con is the back window is smaller than other SUVs.

Mazda cx-5 overall issues and review.
The car handles very well. It does take some time to accelerate and I do find myself putting the pedal to the metal when trying to get above the sixth gear. Additionally, the infotainment system is a bit dated. The interior is otherwise comfortable and spacious.

I always loved Mazda. I find it to be one of the most reliable car brand. We wanted a compact SUV, and the cx 5 is an all-rounder on all sort of performances. We have had two issues that were repaired due to notice from manufacturers. Both were minor problems that did not affect the operation of the vehicle. I really do love my Mazda cx-5. It has always been reliable, even in -45 degree weather! The miles per gallon is quite nice and it can handle ice and snow quite well. I have never had any issues with repairs or routine maintenance. Be prepared to spend a little more on things like oil changes as synthetic oil is preferred.

Comfortable for tall people!
I am 6’5 and really love how comfortable I sit in the cx-5. I have ample headroom, and my legs spread out without my knees hitting the dash or center console. I also love the sport feature and the pick up gives it an edge. I had a problem with the lining of the windshield (inside where it touches the dashboard), but I am pretty sure it is due from the constant sun exposure. Overall, always recommend this car.

The Mazda cx-5 is sleek, lots of space for a shopping day or buying furniture.
I had a defective part but the item was covered under the extended warranty. The extended warranty had added additional money onto the originally negotiated monthly payment amount, however, it was well worth it as it paid for the defective piece to be taken out. Something leaking in the back, I apologize.

Comfortable, safe, and drives great!
Really comfortable, great performance, wish it had a little more space as my last car was a Volvo xc70 and had a lot more space. I wish the features were a little more updated, like the dashboard camera could be bigger. Mine does not have navigation although it has the button and I am told it cannot even be installed. It's a safe car and I have a child so that is one of the most important things to me, so I am really happy about that. I also wish there was an adjustment to make the inside dash etc a little brighter at night so things were easier to see without having to push the bright lights inside the roof of the car. It is reliable and gets decent gas mileage and so far maintenance and service fees haven't been too much.

People should know about the handling. I've mainly drove smaller sedans or mid size cars up to this point, and even though it is a crossover, it has better handling than any of those other cars.
I love the handling of my CX-5 because it handles like a smaller sedan. It is a crossover, so I have a decent amount of space and size. Even though it is only 4 cylinder engine, it still has good/decent amount of giddy up. My only complaint with my car specifically is that I didn't get many upgrades/add-ons. I wish I had remote start for one. Heated seats would be nice also in the Michigan winters.

Really like the car for affordability and the features included in the type of model. It has been easy to maintain and reliable. Great viability and decent storage space. It is amazing overall and was my first ‘new car’ purchase, even though I bought it used as the second owner. Only and biggest complaint is the in-dash navigation. It is a joke. When you buy the vehicle, have that retro-mod’d out asap. Aside from that, the vehicle is everything I needed to upgrade and fit a car seat better than in my tiny car I previously owned.

It performs great with great gas mileage and a very comfortable ride. Would highly recommend. I use my car for all longer trips with friends. Everyone feels very safe and always wants to take my car when driving. I have had very minimal problems and would highly recommended.

My Mazda cx-5 is incredible safe and sleek!
My 2015 Mazda cx-5 is an incredible vehicle! It is a very sturdy and solid vehicle, compared to other SUVs that I have seen and ridden in. For a mid-size SUV it gets very good gas mileage, around 26 mph in town and 30 mph on highway. The seats are extremely comfortable, and have various adjustments one can make for their height, along with three options for heated seats. I also love the alarm on the side mirrors that light up and beep when another car gets too close, or something is coming too close to the sides of the vehicle. The rear camera works well, but I do wish that it was a little brighter and had a larger viewpoint. Also, my Bluetooth can be a little glitchy at times.

Comfortable and durable, the Mazda cx-5 is a perfect family car.
I love how comfortable the Mazda cx-5 is. The seats do not get super hot (fabric), and the cushioning in the seats is perfect. The seats also recline into almost a full supine position. Perfect for naps and relaxation. The seat space is very roomy and ample. It is great for all body figures. The sunroof is a nice way to get fresh air without the direct on face contact that you can sometimes get when you open the passenger and driver windows. The biggest issue is the lack of air vents in the rear seating area... Additional vents would have added an extra luxury element.

Love my 2015 Mazda cx-5 and do not plan to change.
The car is very comfortable and I have not had any issues. Mazda is easy to work with every time I take it in for maintenance. I do wish the back window popped open. The back is not the most spacious but it works for all my needs. My favorite feature is the keyless entry/start.

Well detailed, super cute, spacious small SUV.
No problems. Extremely cute vehicle. Tons of room in the back. Sleek design, comfortable seats. Amazing sound system, easy Bluetooth connection. Drives well, quiet ride. Easy to maintain. Able to charge devices while driving with the USB connections. Remote start with the key fob is extremely convenient especially during the winter.

It is a good and reliable car, very few complaints.
Performs well, and is comfortable, so I have no complaints there. But, I have the lowest package, meaning the button for GPS on the car is there but I cannot use it, so that is annoying. I had to get the battery changed, and the oxygen sensor thingy replaced as well.

My best buddy - blue Mazda.
Mazda cx 5 is very spacious and comfortable for a family of 4. It drives smoothly and rear camera future is excellent. Leather seats are luxurious and very attractive. Trunk is generously proportioned. I would recommend this car to families with children. Storage space by front and folding armrest and table in the back with cup holders are also great futures. My Mazda is dark blue and I absolutely love the color. It does not have a navigator, it would be helpful to have this future for sure. Sounds system in the car is excellent. Multiple charging stations are a favorite for our family to be able to charge multiple devices at the same time. Overall I am very pleased with my Mazda cx 5. Air conditioning is also very well designed and built. I did not have to fix anything in regards to that.

Mazda? More like a Mazda-rati!
I love my Mazda! I have had this car for 3 years now and have never had a problem once. All of my cars in the past were always breaking down on me, but not this one. Winters are bad where I live and it is great in the snow. Also very comfortable to take long road trips in - spacious and comfy seats.

Mazda cx-5: very good car.
This car is very reliable and can withstand a lot of use. I personally use it to deliver food and even though the miles are abnormally high for 2015 car, it still performs very well and there has not been any issues. I would highly recommend the Mazda cx-5 to anyone considering buying it; my only complaint is that the Bluetooth feature does not work properly, at least in my car. Check to see if it works properly before buying, but other than that it is a great car.

Great times with my vehicle performance.
This is vehicle is tasty been great on gas, also very economic and reliable. I feel very comfortable everytime I drive my car around the city or highway. You cannot go wrong with this vehicle. I really enjoy driving my car specially for the fact that is one of the fewest compact SUV that is available in manual transmission.

All around great car for adventuring and reasonable for being a daily driver.
The car gets awesome gas mileage, it is a very smooth ride and it has the space to fit two large dogs. The car has a high quality sound system. It also is Bluetooth compatible, has a sunroof and a large truck to assist any adventures you might go on.

Mazda cx 5 great family car.
Small electrically issues such as windshield wipers randomly go off even when it is not raining. The vehicle is extremely comfortable. Leather seats are comfortable. The car is big enough for two adults, two large dogs and a car seat with infant. Very smooth ride.

Mazda cx-5 review. The best used car purchase.
Overall great car. I really like the appearance of the car and all of the perks that come with the grand touring. I wish the car had more sensors like when you are too close to a vehicle. It would be nice if the sunroof was longer. The brakes and steering are good.
