The headlights tend to fall out if they are not placed in correctly. I've known a few others who have owned bugs, and their car does the same thing. But it's cute and can drive fast!
I love my bug because it is cute and is very fuel efficient. I drive At least 200 miles or more a week and I don't have to spend much on gas. The car is very reliable!
accountCircle Kate C
You should check out the gas mileage on this thing!
This was my first car, and I purchased it my senior year of high school! I have been able to get around very well in this vehicle, and have very few problems, which is great considering it is an 06 model. The gas mileage is fantastic. The one downside to this type of vehicle would be that certain parts seem to be more expensive due to the fact that it is a Volkswagen.

Always lock the doors to save battery life and use the right kind of gasoline.
The only problems I have had is needing to replace the battery and window motor since buying it last december.
accountCircle Sarah M
My car is green, has ac and runs really well. I love my car, great gas mileage.
This car will last a long time if you take care of it.
accountCircle Mackenzie T
It's not a pretty car, but it won't ever fully break.
It's a really poorly made car, but somehow holds together despite everything. Several parts have broken and been replaced throughout the year and the sensors always go haywire, but it drives just as well as when I first bought it. Not to mention, it's a wonderful summer car with lots of open space for its size.
accountCircle Madison F
It is a really cute and unique car for where I live.
Overall it is a very nice car. The only complaint that I have is that there aren't a lot of mechanics who work on VW Beetles, so it is very difficult to get my car fixed. Everything is really easy to use, except putting up the convertible top. Every time I put the top down, it takes like 3 people to put it back up because it is starting to get old and worn down.

Over 200,000 miles and keeps on going
My car has over 200,000 miles on it, I didn't get it from the most reputable place, but it still runs great. It's a diesel, so in theory it should run forever. It's got a lot more space than it looks like it should from the outside. They're kind of expensive to fix, but this is my second Beetle and I love it!

I have a yellow Volkswagen new beetle. It is very comfortable and reliable. The only setback is the price of parts

Negative Owner Reviews

Its a pile of c**p
No, it falls apart. The rearview mirror hangs by the wires, both dooe handles inside broke off. The engine compartment too small. To change Alternator is 1100$+ because you must remove the front end bumper, hood and fenders. The headliners unglued. The dash is falling apart around steering wheel.
accountCircle Andrea W
Always checks the fluids in the car.
Need to many repairs. Always in the shop. But great on gas. Inside is nice and roomy. Has a nice system in there.

2006 VW new beetle review.
Everything breaks easily as in the console lid, window regulators, convertible top switch, leather seats ripped after getting wet, glove box lock hand broke off, door frame cracked, all after 2 years of owning, as far as the engine and such, not to many problems other than normal wear and tear like brakes tires sensors, so other than the cheaply made inside it's a fun little car.

Don't get a Volkswagen Beetle
The car is small and very compact. It does not accurate fast and it not very fuel efficient. Everything in the car breaks very easily, especially the door handles. I started having problems with the engine and the breaks the same year I got it. Not worth any of the expenses.
accountCircle Jason P
That it cleans very easy.
Gas mileage isn't very good. And the top speed is too slow. Not enough room for people to sit. The tires were too big.
accountCircle liz r
I'd never recommend a vw to anyone. It's falling apart on the inside.
It's my dream car. But i'm dissatisfied with how the interior has held up.
accountCircle Debbie A
A reliable compact car, better for warmer climates with less snow.
Love the size.. Too many cosmetics problems windows doors glove box etc.. All window catches have been replaced.
accountCircle Kevin V
It's not a family car, made for families, It's meant for single people on their own
It's a very tiny car, with little room. It isn't a family car for sure. I hate low profile tires

My car reflects my personality. It's economical, environmentally friendly, and fun to drive. I just enjoy being in her.
I love the fact that it's economical to drive and that it handles really well. It's also cute, comfortable and easy to find parts for.

Pros from Owners

I love the compact size of this car, she'S fun to drive and easy to park anywhere, perfect for city living! She's got great power, occasionally new people take a turn driving her and squeal the tires because they do not expect the punch. Surprisingly, with decent tires, she also does well on winter roads, and I live in Minnesota.

likeFilled Eboni G.

Gas saver, it runs good, is comfortable to ride in, small so if you're a tiny person this car would be perfect for you. I really don't have any other pros of this vehicle. If you want to get one then go for it.

Very compact. Easy to drive. Good car for beginners. Very cute and customizable. It is a safe car too. Very spacious despite what it looks like from the outside. Great gas mileage. Fill up the whole tank with $10.

likeFilled Rebecca W.

I like the compact size because it is easy to maneuver, easy to park, and just fun to drive. The beetle also surprisingly has quite a bit of power, if you step on the gas a little to much, you may find yourself burning out! I live in Minnesota, and am also surprised to find it handles well in the winter months on snowy roads (with good tires, of course.).

Cons from Owners

dislikeFilled Rebecca W.

Oh to own a German made car, any repairs are expensive! And you cannot just take her anywhere for service, only certain shops carry the parts and tools to fix my Beetle. Another problem that seems to happen way too often is that the lights go out on a regular and frequent basis! One a headlight will stop working, I'll buy the expensive replacement, get my handy husband to do the difficult replacement and then two days later a taillight will go out!!

dislikeFilled Eboni G.

In hot weather, the sides of the doors peel off, not enough room if you are taller than 5ft, radio volume does not go as high as I would like it to, not enough room for car seat or stroller, when backing out, you can't really see if there is a car coming behind you or not.

dislikeFilled Alexis F.

Sits very low to the ground, which makes it easier to bottom out. Very easy to speed, does not feel as if you are going fast. Only three cup holders. Engine light comes on a lot sometimes for no reason.

dislikeFilled Rebecca W.

The biggest downside is the cost of repairs and parts. Like any German car, only certain auto shops are equipped to service VW's so you are limited to where you can go, and then you have to find one you can trust. I have found the lights in the beetle tend to go out regularly and are difficult and expensive to repair, and the costs add up quickly. The electronics system also seems to have lots of problems, but my car is over 160,000 miles.

Is The 2006 Volkswagen Beetle A Good Car?

Yes, very reliable, smooth ride, as long as maintained there are no issues. Mmt favorite vehicle so far.
Brandy C.
Yes, it is super fun to drive and has surprising power! The extras like heated seats are great in the winter. The downsides are the cost of repairs for a German automobile.
Rebecca W.
For the most part I love the car. It is very good on gas and if I had the chance to get another, I would.
EBoni G.

How Reliable Is The 2006 Volkswagen Beetle?

It is very reliable. I have had no issues. Decent in the rain and snow, very smooth transitions. Perfect.
Brandy C.
The biggest problem so far are vacuum leaks after 130,000 miles. The lights also seem to die often but are easily replaceable without service.
Rebecca W.
It is very reliable. For the most part it does not give me any problems except for the side padding coming off in the heat.
EBoni G.

Is The 2006 Volkswagen Beetle A Good Value?

I paid 18k. I think it was worth every penny. No money put into repairs except regular oil changes and tune ups.
Brandy C.
We paid about $3,200 used with 125,000 miles and have had to put another $2,000 into it. But overall it is great car that will hopefully last another 150,000 miles!
Rebecca W.
I am not generally sure how much they cost. But it was a very good value for the money. The old beetles should be cheaper tho.
