I love the space that a larger SUV offers.
About 2 weeks after I bought the SUV it broke down. I needed a new alternator and battery. Now, it is surging which makes me believe that I need a new transmission. I am pretty upset about the whole situation and regret purchasing the vehicle period.

Buying a second hand car with a record on how the car was serviced.
I received this car second hand and the upkeep of the car is wonderful. I have put a lot of miles on the car and keep up the basic maintenance when traveling. I received the care from the previous owner which made continuing the care of the car despite the mileage that was on it when purchased,

Acadia review from the good to the bad.
Mechanical issues, electrical issues, etc. Reliability is not great. Plus is the size, the built in DVD player, kids are comfortable in the back of the car and while traveling. Another con is the trunk does not hold much room. Sunroof is a plus also have a non functioning one in the back of car.

Engine is junk!
The engine broke the rear timing chain, after being replaced 2,000 miles ago. This engine is a disgrace to GM. No recalls and many complaints or timing chain issues. Many people have been financially stung by the bad design of GM. Don't buy any GM with the 3.6 direct injection engine.

Great busy family vehicle.
I bought this vehicle when it was 3 years old and at 40,000+ miles. I loved it! Great vehicle for a family with kids in sports/activities. Third-row seating has been a lifesaver. Started having issues - some small (liftgate issues, rear wiper issues), some big around 100,000 miles. So-so on gas mileage.

Love the fact that it has 3 rows.
Haven't had any issues yet. It does very well on gas, gets me where I need to go. Speed up time is very good. It is a very safe vehicle. I love the fact that it has 3 rows of seats so I can fit 8 people in my car at once. Great for road trips. A lot of memories in this car!

GMC Acadia - family car. Love it or hate it, but it gets the job done.
Most issues have been related to the vents/cooling/heating system. Had to replace water pump. Other minor issues, but none overly serious. Wish it was roomier, but fits our family of 7. I wish we had something a little bigger for cargo space but I am not a minivan mom, so this is a nice option. Would purchase again.

2012 GMC Acadia is a quality mid-size SUV with plenty of space and comfort.
The Acadia is a smooth and quiet ride. It also is spacious with all leather interior. The dual sunroofs add to the light and roominess of the interior. The salt has the navigation system which is great but an update to the system is costly to get the newest maps. Mechanically the Acadia is sound, however, the 2009-2012 are known to have torque converter issues which mine is currently experiencing. This is a costly repair and will need to be done soon or risk wrecking the transmission. I would recommend this vehicle to others but be aware of the transmission issues.

The GMC Acadia is a typical SUV, but not my favorite.
The Acadia is not the most comfortable to ride in. It has been a practical car and fairly reliable with a few big ticket maintenance items. It gets the expected gas mileage of a typical SUV. Cargo room is sufficient. Overall, it is an ok vehicle, but I will not purchase again.

Transmission issues could be a problem.
I love my Acadia, it is a perfect size for my family. It get above average gas mileage. My only complaint is the fact that this model has transmission issues and my car is starting to show possible signs of transmission issues. Prior to the transmission the only other issue I have had was with the air conditioner's compressor. It had to be replaced.

Awesome overall comfortable family SUV.
Great overall family SUV. Gets you where you need to go. Lots of trunk space and foldable seats. Good car for long travel missions too. DVD player perfect for the kids. Back seat air control as well. Rear view camera is an awesome add to the vehicle.

Good car for families that want to have a nice size vehicle.
Lots of room. Good for families with kids. Seats fold down and can hold a lot of stuff. Not too big to drive and park.Berry easy to maneuver. Comfortable seats and dash is easy to use. Wish it had more camera options and a few more safety features to make the car safer.

Not a reliable car
I've always liked Toyota over any other car make. I've owned GMC,Chevy ,Ford and Nissan besides Toyota and Toyota is the best buy far! I should have listened to my gut when buying this dump! The car shakes all the time except when I take it into mechanics. The fake chrome is peeling off everywhere, the back door broke and slammed me in the back of the head, radio is broken and it's a crazy gas hog. I'll never ever buy anything but a Toyota again.

Great Family SUV with minimal adjustments required
I purchased a used GMC Acadia after I was in a wreck in my brand new truck. We were looking at new vehicles and realized that a truck did not fit with the dynamic of our family with 2 kids and minimal seating. I began looking at vehicles and the used Acadia was recommended as a good fit as it has 3 rows of seats, so there is room for my family, as well as any guests who wish to travel with us. This car has been very reliable and quite comfortable in the time that I have had it.

Great vehicle. Go buy one!
I love my Acadia. It runs great. Have taken it on several vacations out of state. Very spacious for my big family. My kids have always been able to stand up and walk to the back with ease. I recommend bucket seats if you do not need the extra seat from a bench seat.

Great Vehicle for all, including the dog!
The Acadia is perfect for a family! It fits our two teenage kids with leg room to spare. The dog also fits perfectly between the captain chairs in the middle. The folding third row is great when extra space is needed for storage. The roof rack is great for transporting kayaks. No problems with it. Only complaint would be the lack of space in the trunk area when the third row is up.

My car has been one of the most reliable vehicles I have ever owned. It has lasted my busy family years of travel without much noticeable wear and tear on the vehicle. Earned its 'Denali' title and more! Perfect family car.
Very spacious, sun and moon roofs, third row seating, last year CD players were standard in cars, has HUD on the windshield for the driver, has Bluetooth for calls, not music, but has USB and aux plug for music and option for XM radio, has warming/cooling driver and front passenger seats, additional heat/ac controls for back. Have had it for almost 2 years. Overall, perfect family car with some extra bells and whistles.

Still the best vehicle we have ever owned
After reading many of the reviews, seems that this '12 acadia denali gets a mix of great and horrible reviews. Bought ours used in '14 with 30k miles. Was attracted to the looks and luxury and is better than our Escalade in many ways; including ride, handling and overall comfort. Consistently get 450 mi. Per tank on trips (22mpg) and it looks as good as it did in 2014. However after reading some of the reviews I now remember the things that have gone wrong. Steering shaft had to be replaced at 45k. Right front motor mount bushings at 60k.( mfg defect. The mount is directly under the oil filter and when a mechanic replaces the filter, oil drips onto the bushings and rots them out). Daytime running lights constantly blowing out( a common Delco problem in GM vehicles) The entire assembly has to be replaced. Cruise control failed before 50k and I never had it fixed. CD player stopped working but we use our phone and plug it in on trips. We still love the car but would never have kept it for 90k miles if we didn't find it to be the best car we have ever owned. For those with poor gas mileage, here is a tip. Read the owner's manual about the button on the shift lever. That controls the driving performance thru the transmission. If it is in one of the sport modes, the shifting will be snappy but never shift into 5th gear. RPM gauge should read less than 2000 rpm at 60mph ( that tells you are in the best performing position for gas mileage ie 5th gear)

It does not feel like a “mom” car. It has two sunroofs!
It is a 7 seater with lots of room! The only downfall is the trunk is rather small when the third row is up. It handles great in the snow. It fits our family of 6 perfectly. We use a luggage rack when we go on vacation. It has a lot of nice features. It drives like a car honestly. It is great! My favorite car so far!

Having a used car in excellent condition makes it easy to maintain.
I bought it use and in excellent condition. The only problem that I have is the interior which needs seat covers. The car is very reliable and I haven't had any problems so therefore I really do not have much more to say. Even though the car have a lot of mileage on it the basic care is up to par.

Really have not had any problems. The two complains is the heat/cooling buttons. You have to look down to change settings and that takes your eyes off the road. The backup is in the mirror I thought I would like it but found I do not. Long trips it's very comfortable.

Great size! Not too big and not too small.
I used to drive a Tahoe and then went to equinox but too small. I then tried the Acadia and it was perfect. It is large enough to hold 5 adults and 3 kids. The 3rd seat legroom is great for kids adults find it tight. The only problem I have really had is with the electrical, I assume electrical as the warning on the car indicates tires need air when they do not. It has been on many vacations with me without any issues. It has the Bluetooth and plug ins for charges in every row all the way to the back end trunk, and the car does not need to be running to charge these which has come in very handy when camping. I think driver and front seat are very comfortable, middles row is good but as I said the 3rd town is somewhat small. When 3rd row is down you can seat 5 people and have a huge trunk space in back!

Needed new transmission plus more by 120k.
I loved my car for the first five years so much that I paid for a new transmission at 115k. Expensive but I thought worth it. However, now at 120k I am finding it is becoming less reliable. I am disappointed because I thought my investment would have provided much more life in my car.

Love this car. Just the right size. Dependable not much repair time. Only criticism I would have is GMC does not spend enough time researching the design of their windows. It is harder for a short person to see out all windows readily.

The 2012 GMC acadia slt 4-wheel drive is a comfortable and adaptable vehicle.
The 2012 GMC acadia is the family vehicle. My wife and brother-in-law purchased the vehicle pre-owned. I was unavailable because of my disability. At first, everything went well. After perhaps three thousand miles a strange knocking noise came intermittently from the drivers side front. We immediately informed the selling dealer. The dealer had the vehicle on several occasions to rectify several small complaints and the before mentioned front end noise. In the end, the vehicle left. In worse condition than that when it had arrived. We spent an extraordinary amount of money trying a few highly recommended mechanics to no avail. The noise remains to this day. To make matters worse, GMC called and informed us the vehicle still had the remainder of the factory warranty still active. We could not receive a refund of work that we had paid for because the repairs were not authorized by the warranty company. Our model arcadia is the slt with the v6 power plant. It appears to have a desert sand like tan color. It is very unique and has to be seen. My spouse tells me that a limited number were produced at this trim level, in this color. Several people have commented positively on the arcadia's appearance. It is quite tall. Getting snow off the roof and hood can be interesting. The rear hatch is powered and there are several 'easy access' features. It has had a few issues. On occasion, the rear hatch will not remain in open (up) position and when the hatch comes down in this scenario, it comes down like a hammer. It has drawn blood. Plan on replacing the rear hatch air/oil assist struts. Currently the replacement cost is approximately one hundred fifty dollars. I reside in central Massachusetts and had my struts replaced today at that price. The interior is very comfortable and generally well thought out. I find the front passenger very uncomfortable on trips of more then approximately one half hour. And there is a significant lack of cupholders. All in all, not a bad vehicle.

Goes through a ton of gas; not smooth when increasing speed. I find dashboard a little confusing. Ton of room and love captains chairs in second row. A.C. The first 3-4 years were great since then something huge has broken every year.
This vehicle has needed so much work. Bought it new in 2012 and do not drive much. Have had to replace a/c unit, engine among other small items. Within 3 years the DVD player sound quit working and cannot fix it without replacing entire system. Many dealers have since said GMC is reliable except the Acadia models - somehow they got it completely wrong.

Great space with lots of room, only concern is the gas tank trapping air.
When we bought the GMC Acadia it had quite a few miles on it already just under 70,000 miles. We love the extra space that it provides especially for the second row seating, we have captains chairs and then a third row bench seat that goes down for extra trunk space when shopping. We have only run into two minor issues, one was the previous owners fault leaving us with a CD stuck in the CD player which we had to buy a whole new unit for. The other issue we ran into is the gas tank getting air in it. When you fill it up with a full tank sometimes the check engine light would come on and the gas cap needed to be replaced.

I is a great car, I have been driving it for a long time and only a few air conditioning and trunk opening problems. The car has served us well over the years and is a comfortable. The car is very spacious with lots of room for passengers and luggage/cargo. I would recommend buying an Acadia to other families.

Features are very nice but not worth the mechanical trouble
Like the options/features. The ride and comfort is also good. Unfortunately there are electrical problems with these vehicles. There is also ignition issues that lead to misfires, constantly.

That they are notorious for having terrible transmissions and a lot of transmission problems before 100000 miles
Likes- size and looks Dislikes- transmission, power, fuel economy

Roomy vehicle, with the necessities. A great investment.
I love the amount of space this vehicle provides. There are 3 rows, with heated seats, and backup camera. The ride is really smooth and is pretty good in the snow. I haven't had any major issues but it does require me to refill the gas tank about twice a week with no major driving.

Winter driving & space make this the top vehicle.
Changing the headlights is a major pain because the whole light has to be changed, not just the bulb. Performance is fantastic, love the space and drivability of the vehicle. Gas mileage is acceptable for highway, but not fantastic. AWD is the absolute way to go for driving in snow and ice. The best vehicle I have owned from that perspective.

Great and long lasting car.
The car for me is very big and being so big it does take a lot of gas so with that it does get costly but other than that the performance of the car is great. After years having it I have never ran into any easy to fix issue with the car and the big size allows lot of room.

It drives and rides perfectly.
Perfect size, color, and has the features I love. It has 3rd row seating, backup camera, all wheel drive and many other features. I have no complaints.

Create vehicle with a few design flaws. Plus, I need a minivan!
I like my vehicle but I do not like the chrome that is on the dash and gear shift. It reflects the sun horribly and makes it difficult to see while driving. It does look very nice but is a hazard for driving. I love the third row but it is difficult to get back to with car seats in the middle captain seats.

It has not given me any problems, virtually maintenance free.
It is AWD, handles well in winter. I bought it used and for age of vehicle it has not given me any problems. My next vehicle would be a purchase of a brand new model.

Someone told me I might have something wrong with my transmission.
I love that's it's GMC don't get me wrong, but after having a used one makes me think twice about having a new one. I'm having trouble with shaking, when I drive over 40 mph, as well as 60 mph. When I turn the A/C on, the temp gauge goes up causing the car to get hot. Other than that. I'm fine with my car.

Awesome reliable family car.
This car has been a great family car! Plenty of room for 3 kids. I have had only minor problems with the car such as ac going out and back windshield wiper motor going out. Other than that this car has been a great reliable car and absolutely love it!

For a car of its size, it's pretty good on gas mileage.
I like the size and how many people it can fit. I also like the captain seats and it's pretty good on gas. However, I do not like the temperature control and the trunk size is too small.

Bout Acadia brand new and never been impressed.
Great looking vehicle but performance is left to be desired. Vac sensors need changed often, power steering pump went out, fuel economy is a lot less than presented from manufacturer, not very good acceleration. When I purchased in 2012, the technology seemed outdated compared to ford.

Love how it handles and rides.
No problems love the car. Never have any problems. Would buy one more when this one is to old. Love GMC

The driver seat is very comfortable.
It is very good with gas mileage and it is really comfy for long trips. There is a lot of room if you need to pack a lot of stuff.

This vehicle has plenty of space for a big family.
This car runs very well. This vehicles has tons of room. It seats 7 people with tons of leg room. The only con is that it is a gas guzzler. The seats have a warmer or cooler control. There is two sunroofs in the vehicle. The vehicle comes with an aux and CD player.

Good overall family vehicle.
Good overall vehicle but I think the transmission is going bad. Good gas mileage. Fits all of my four kids with enough space. Trunk is big with extra compartments for storage. Lots of cup holders and sunroof is a plus.Link that the seats fold down easily.

GMC Acadia - great for road trips or just running around town.
I absolutely love this car! It is reliable, it looks good, gets decent gas mileage. Other than routine maintenance/repairs, it is been a great car. It has a very comfortable ride - great for long road trips, but it is also a great car for running around town. I would definitely buy. The same car again!

GMC Acadia is a good family vehicle.
No issues whatsoever. The GMC Acadia is a great family vehicle. Very roomy, offers the kids in the back room to separate comfortably. Even when full of passengers there is still a decent amount of storage space. Great family vehicle. Again, a great family vehicle.

WAS AN EXCELLENT SUV, BUT THEN..
Purchased our 2012 Acadia SLT used with 18,000 miles on it in 2013. Was dependable and comfortable. We pampered it and got it serviced regularly... No real issues until about 80,000 miles, other than replacing each tirod.. Both headlights had to be replaced on two separate occasions within 6 months, the driver's door pwr lock stopped working, then the front passenger pwr lock stopped working, followed by each being fixed and then the power windows each took a turn to stop functioning. My mechanic explained there was excessive corrosion in the links in the doors. I paid well over $1,300 for those repairs followed by a $450.00 dealer only electrical part they had to remove the center console to get to... With the labor that was over $700.00.. I was advised that in order to correct these persistent electrical issues we would need to replace the front electrical harness $1,500.00 and the rear electrical harness for $1,000.00 plus labor... We had our mechanic get the driver's door lock working one last time and we are now trading it in.... It only has 92,000 miles on it and over all it drives great and the interior is holding up well.. Just cannot keep putting money into it... Too expensive to maintain...

GMC is similar to all other suvs in Its class & the transmission isn't the greatest.
The transmission is garbage and the over all mechanics of the car are just ok.

Great option for a family of 5, with captain chairs and room for 3 car seats!
I purchased my 2012 Acadia, used, in 2014, as our family was growing and we needed room for 3 car seats. It has done the trick! Other than normal wear and tear, it has held up well with no serious issues. Some wear and tear includes the markings on the knobs coming off, the radio antenna seems to need fixing, and some interior plastic attachments have come off. It is a little outdated, as there is no way to stream music. Overall, I am happy with my Acadia and would like to upgrade in the near future.

My GMC Acadia is awesome!
My GMC has a smooth ride and an awesome Bose sound system. I wanted an SUV with 3rd row seats and a 2nd row with captain's chairs for easy access to the 3rd row. I thought I would hate the leather because it makes my sweat in the summer but I put a towel under me and love it because with 2 young kids it is a miracle. I just wipe them clean. It is been super reliable and the only complaint I have is the gas mileage could be better, however, it is a mid size SUV with some get up and go. When it comes time to buy a new one, another GMC will be at the top of my list.
