It is dependable and very comfortable. This vehicle requires little maintenance. It always looks and performs well. There has been no major issues with this car in the 15 years of ownership. Always passes smog with no problem. All around great vehicle.
Comfortable, has towing capability, good brand, plenty of room, CD player, cassette player, keyless entry, OnStar, has headroom, has a roof rack, has a spare tire, has a jack, has a compartment for jumper cables.
It is very Spacious and reliable. It is great for mountain driving here where I live in Colorado. Its durable and strong in the mountains. It has run for a long time and feels sturdy and trustworthy. It's also comfortable to drive.
Towing capacity for our horses and the capacity to carry 7 passengers. The 4 wheel drive available at the turn of a dashboard button is also a plus. The stow away seats for hauling inside of the vehicle are also a positive.
It has 4WD, beautiful interior, drives like an absolute charm. Can conquer any terrain and gets reasonable gas mileage. Came with some extra features and has easily topped 300k miles with regular oil changes.
There has been no mechanical issues to complain about with this vehicle. As with all midsize SUVs they are gas hogs. For long trips they are not the best of choices if you are on a budget. If you like buying plants like I do on vacation then they are a great choice. The headlights have clouded.
Previously used, has quite a bit of water on it, the CD player does not work properly, the speakers will often go out on the driver side door, the jack to get the spare tire down is old and you have to fight with it.
The vehicle is an older year and the tires are expensive, which will need to be replaced soon. Any upkeep on the vehicle is expensive. It does not drive as smooth in the snow as it does in the mountains or on dry pavement.
Fuel economy, the inline v6 engine is a gas guzzler. It is the downfall of a high towing capacity but it is a costly one. Parts are also difficult to find given that it is a discontinued make and model.
It could get BETTER gas mileage and the hatch for the rear of the vehicle has broken multiple times. It is a heavier vehicle and the leather seats leave much to be desired. The electric seats broke rather quickly and are very expensive to replace, also the gas gauge was recalled but was replaced in a fast fashion.
The 2005 GMC Envoy has an average owner rating of 4.21 out of 5 which ranks it #9 of 17 other Midsize SUVs.
