Alex Showalter
Dec 28, 2022

The 2019 Nissan Rogue lasts around 250,000 miles with some transmission software and brake sensor issues. At $17,775 to $26,400, it’s a good value for a compact SUV with a comfortable interior and loads of standard technology.

likeFilled The Good
The suspension is very smooth on rough roads, there’s plenty of cargo space and a lot of standard advanced safety technology.
dislikeFilled The Bad
The steering is loose, there’s a lot of noise from the CVT transmission and visibility is poor due to the large pillars.

Pretty large and reliable vehicle.
The display and dashboard display are easy to read. The seat adjustments are comfortable and easy to use. It is pretty efficient on gas, and has a lot of space in the interior. My favorite feature is the fact that when I use the cruise control in crawling traffic, I can set it to follow the next vehicle slowly.

Best little SUV. Best mileage and great looking car.
I love the roominess of the trunk and the front seats- the passenger section seats are comfortable yet not a lot of legroom. I like the versatility of the trunk turning into ample back storage. The ride is smooth and the gas mileage is great which I appreciate since I commute 90-100 miles daily.

I fell in love with a rogue.
As of yet, I have not experienced any problems with my car. I love the 3 different vehicle modes. Sport, eco and I guess regular. My first mini SUV and I love it. My previous car didn't have Bluetooth or touch screen navigation and this vehicle does! Amazing on gas and very spacious.

Seat memory is a plus for any couple.
I absolutely love the Nissan rogue. This is my 2nd one and I haven't had any problems with either of them. I feel the gas mileage is fantastic especially for a crossover. I love all the bells and whistles that come with it. My favorite feature has to be the seat memory so my husband and I both can have a setting at the press of a button.

Nissan rogue- the SUV made for you.
The safety features cannot be beat- the rear view camera and the blind spot detectors have made me wonder how I drove without it. The vehicle is spacious and comfortable. The storage space is perfect for grocery shopping or travelling with the family.

Great car for a SUV that is considered a crossover.
Very comfortable and nice looking car. I love the remote start and the safety features. The blind spot warning is wonderful. Also having a remote start that is climate controlled is perfect for all the different weather we have experience in southwestern Pennsylvania.

All around view cameras to see all angles of your vehicle.
Remote start, blind spot warnings, anti- collision, heated seats, all around view cameras, Sirius radio, leather seats, kick up to open the trunk, roomy trunk cargo storage in the trunk, adjustable back seats, navigation system, Bluetooth capability,

Nissan rogue is a great middle space and luxury.
This vehicle is very spacious. It has a lot of trunk space and the way it is designed allows for things like groceries to not fall around everywhere. It drives nicely too though I do find it difficult to drive slower than 35 in hilly areas because of how soft the pedal is. The d shaped steering wheel is unique to this car and I really appreciate how comfortable it is for driving long hours.

Horrible we recurved a lemon and after 4 returns to ship we now have a new car with 6 replacement items
Not acceptable the way the corporation has handled my situation

Do not buy a Nissan rogue sport... Here's why.
Not my choice, awful body design, horrible blind spots, hate the back up camera, no sensors, color is nondescript, power locks are always a problem. Tin can. No power. Basic. No power seats, no sunroof, no heated seats, no heated steering wheel. Too light on body weight.

Love the whole car....
No issues yet . But looking awsome .love our 2019 Rouge SL Thanks Sherwood park Nisson

The rogue is a lemon with the only positive about the vehicle is gas mileage.
Vehicle problems- the air conditioner stopped working within the first 45 days of owning the car. The tailgate had malfunctioned numerous times where it will not close. The back-up camera is terrible. The back-up sensors malfunction anytime I put something in the back of the vehicle... It will alert me as if someone is behind the car. Comfort-it is not comfortable to drive long distance. It is also quite difficult to get my 2 year old into her car seat because there is little room between the back seat and front seat. Functionality- it was purchased for a growing family and you cannot fit more than 1 person in the back seat if the car seat is in there or if you do, then no one can use the seatbelts.
accountCircle Mo B
Issues with engine noise.
The engine makes a lot of noise. Also the pickup is not that great. Other than that the car is just fine, it is spacious, the seats are comfortable and it has a lot of safety features. The other car that I have is Honda and when you compare the two cars, definitely Honda is better.
accountCircle Dan W
It is slower than molasses.
Nice looking car but the acceleration is at the point of being dangerous. The takes a very long time to accelerate onto the highway. We will soon be trading it in on an infinity with a v8 engine. I hope that Nissan will realize this car has a performance problem and discontinue the hybrid engine.
accountCircle Mike Talbert
Less that 8000 miles and I'm having trouble already.
Less than 8000 miles and I'm having troubles with the door locks. The rear view mirror adjustment is broken and the kick function to open the back door is broken too. I will give another update after I find out if the dealer I bought it from is going to fix it or charge me to fix it. At this point I'm disappointed and angry with Nissan.
accountCircle Sandy Givens
What were they thinking when they designed the windshield wipers??
The windshield wipers do not cover the right window completely. There is approximately 1/3 of the window that doesn't get washed/dried. Good thinking Nissan!

What Do Critics Say About the Nissan Rogue?

  • Consumer Reports says the 2019 Nissan Rogue is an easy-to-drive, family-friendly SUV with a roomy cabin, although owner satisfaction scores are lower than average.
  • Edmunds rates the Rogue at 4/5, praising the smooth suspension on rough roads, but doesn’t like the weak engine.
  • Kelley Blue Book users give the Rogue a 4.2/5, enjoying the spacious and comfortable cabin, but owners don’t like the poor off-road performance.

What Common Problems Does the 2019 Nissan Rogue Have?

Common problems reported on the 2019 Nissan Rogue include the transmission slipping, the ABS system engaging randomly, and some issues with the defroster. Overall, these problems are a bit worse than other compact SUVs, although the repair costs are lower than some competitors.

The transmission slipping while accelerating is the most widespread complaint from owners at around 5,000 miles. There is a software update for the continuously variable automatic transmission which improves its reliability. Most dealers will install the update for free, while some may charge around $100.

The ABS system engaging randomly has also been reported on some 2019 Nissan Rogue models at roughly 15,000 miles. Usually the problem is caused by a damaged brake sensor, which will make the ABS system think there’s more brake force being applied. Changing the brake sensor costs around $150.

Issues with the defroster system have also shown up on the Nissan Rogue in the first 10,000 miles. The fan for the blower is located in the engine compartment and in extremely cold weather it may freeze up. Usually just allowing the engine to run will melt ice buildup on the fans, solving the problem.

There are two recalls on the 2019 Nissan Rogue, which is better than many other compact SUVs on the market. The first recall covers the backup camera, which is solved by a software update. The second recall is for the engine harness, which can cause the Rogue to stall. Nissan will install a harness protector on affected models for free.

How Long Will the 2019 Nissan Rogue Last?

A well-maintained 2019 Nissan Rogue can last around 250,000 miles, which is around 50,000 miles less than the very dependable Toyota RAV4. Regular annual maintenance costs are similar to other small SUVs, according to data from Repair Pal, at $380 per year.

As a used 2019 Nissan Rogue reaches 100,000 miles, and depending on the vehicle history, owners should be prepared to replace the water pump for $650, coolant temperature sensor costing $400, as well as the radiator fan assembly which costs $575.

accountCircle Kimberly G

Thus far there have been no problems however it was bought new and just a few weeks ago. If there are any problems I also purchased the extended warranty that covers all the electronics/sensors of the vehicle.

accountCircle Richard L

I have noted most previously. I'd add that the seat is not the most comfortable, especially for long drives, and when it rains, the back-up mirror is effectively useless.

accountCircle Stephanie P

Yes, it is a very reliable vehicle. I haven't found any problems with it since purchasing it back in august.

accountCircle Margo T

Yes, it has been very reliable so far. I have not had any problems with it, however it does have a factory recall that I need to get it in for.

accountCircle Edith S

I made my purchase in may 2019 and it has proven to be very reliable and I have not had any problems.

accountCircle John W

I have had zero problems as far as reliability when it comes to my Nissan rogue. I am very pleased with it in this regard.

accountCircle Mary k

Yes the car is reliable. So far no major issues. Gas mileage is good and the size is perfect my family. I am happy.

accountCircle Emily H

Yes - there have been no problems so far. I just purchased in may but already have quite a few miles on it.

How Is the Technology?

Entertainment technology is great with a standard 7-inch touchscreen display which features Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Available upgrades include more powerful stereo systems.

Safety technology is excellent for a compact SUV. Standard advanced safety features include a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, intelligent lane intervention, as well as automatic high-beam headlights. Some optional upgrades include rear automatic emergency braking, rear parking sensors, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, surround-view parking camera system, as well as ProPilot Assist, which is a semi-autonomous driving system.

Is the 2019 Nissan Rogue a Good Value?

Yes, the 2019 Nissan Rogue is a good value since it is more affordable than other small SUVs and has a nice interior. The blue book fair purchase price ranges from $17,750 to $26,400, making it cheaper than a Honda CR-V or Mazda CX-5. When new, the price range was $25,020 to $32,840. Depreciation is average, losing about 10% of its current value per year.

What are the Different Models of the Nissan Rogue?

What Engines Come In the Nissan Rogue?

The engine found in the 2019 Nissan Rogue is a weak 2.5L 4-cylinder which makes 170 horsepower with great gas mileage at up to 27 MPG. It comes standard with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Performance is slow, taking 9.2 seconds to go from 0-60 MPH.

What Colors Does the Nissan Rogue Come In?

How Comfortable Is the Nissan Rogue?

The 2019 Nissan Rogue is a very comfortable compact SUV with seating for up to five passengers. Seating is nicer than a lot of the competition since there are some high quality cloth and leather options with plenty of cushioning.

Passenger room is great throughout the cabin, offering enough legroom for taller adults in the rear seats.

How Much Storage Space Does the Nissan Rogue Have?

Cargo space is fantastic for a small SUV, offering enough room for 7-8 suitcases behind the rear seats, and around 14 with the rear seats folded flat.

VehicleHistory Image

What Are the Differences Between Years?

The second generation of the Nissan Rogue was launched in 2014 and was replaced by the third generation in 2021.

2015: No major changes.

2016: Siri Eyes Free added to all models, NissanConnect available on the SL model.

2017: Small exterior styling changes, available hands-free liftgate, adaptive cruise control, and Midnight Edition with dark trim.

2018: Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on all models, third row discontinued.

2019: More standard driver safety features added.

2020: No major changes.

2021: Fully redesigned for the third generation with new engines, styling, and technology.

How Does the Nissan Rogue Compare to the Competition?

The 2019 Nissan Rogue is a good compact SUV since it’s affordable and offers a lot of reliability improvements from earlier years.

The Chevy Equinox is a competitor available in the same price range. Passenger room is slightly better in the Chevy Equinox, while the Nissan Rogue offers better standard technology. We recommend going with the Nissan Rogue since they are more affordable to own and maintain long-term.

The Honda CR-V is another small SUV which costs around $3,500 more. There’s more standard technology in the Honda CR-V, while the Nissan Rogue offers a nicer interior for the money. We recommend the Honda CR-V since they have slightly higher reliability ratings, although both are decent SUVs for 2019.

Great looking and reliable car!
Great car, great comfort and performance. Never let me down since I got it, I never had any problems at all. Big windows for great round view. Lone the features for safety like the little light in the mirrors and the sound of a car is close to you. Like it a lot!

Great car, great price. Offers more extras than most other SUVs in it is class.
The vehicle rides very smoothly. It has lots of extras especially for it is price point: apple carplay, heated seats and steering wheel, cameras for behind and on the side of the car, also automatic stopping to prohibit front end collision. It has excellent pick up which is great for those that do a lot of interstate travel. The seats are electric and also have a save option for two people. Equipped with navigation and Wi-Fi is an option but not standard.

2019 Nissan rogue sports review.
Overall I love my Nissan rogue sport. It is not too bulky but gives that big car feel. I really like that it has sensors for switching lanes, and of course CarPlay. I do wish it picked up speed faster but otherwise no complaints. I would highly recommend this vehicle.

My rogue Nissan is very spacious and accommodates my needs while working and tending to my family’s needs. Why I like my car and drive it so much.
I really enjoy all the features on the car. I love the propilot feature that helps drive the car when cruise control is on. It is weird at first but still a good idea when you start to get tired. I also enjoy the satellite radio for long trips. The car handles really well as well. It almost drives more like a car than a small SUV.

I have had no problems so far the car drives beautifully very quiet and comfortable. The car let’s me know when there’s someone in my blind spot and the rear view camera is so convenient for me. I love that the Bluetooth is so quick to pair to my phone and on calls I am told I sound very clear.

I absolutely love my Nissan rogue! Safe, comfortable, and a pleasure to drive!
Very comfortable and handles very well! The 360 camera is the best thing ever!! I wish the interior lighting was brighter. The sport mode is a pleasure to use, yet the eco mode helps save on gas by cutting the engine power for city driving. The cruise control assist has been a game changer while driving on freeways.

Overall good vehicle - some tech upgrades should be made.
Sometimes the CarPlay does not always work with the cord (not the cord). Not Bluetooth enabled as in other vehicles. I cannot figure out how to get the all wheel drive to work over 30 mph. The blind spot passenger spot is difficult to get around. No front end camera notifications.

My vehicle is pretty good. It feels a little light when the weather is super windy because it will drift off the road. The Bluetooth and carplay works really well as far as audio. Good vehicle, wish it had better features.
The vehicle is nice but the features are lacking. I wish I had a sunroof and push start. The cost for those additions were far too high for my budget. I feel like I could have gotten something nicer at lower cost. I got a dark gray Nissan and it is all black interior which is nice but I wish I had splurged for leather or suede. I love the eco option and the sport option for highway driving versus city driving though. I feel a slight shake every now and then but I think that is just from the sensors going off so much. I am considering turning those off but I am not sure if this is a great idea or not considering it is helpful when it is dark outside and I have trouble seeing things.

No serious problems and performance is good. The engine size is great on gas but the take off to merge on freeway is not very powerful. The reliability is great the safety with the use of the blinking signals on rear mirror that give you indentation a vehicle is next to you or passing. The comfort is to small for large size people especially the back seat space and the features are great.

My rouge is beautiful just what I was looking for, it provides a smooth drive with good pick, provides electric controlled comfortable seating with good audio (even has a CD player), but is stiff on right turns and rear view mirrors are at my eye level and blocks my view.

It is very smooth and fast!
I love the seats and the radio, how it goes back to what I put the seat at after I get in. But it is just very bulky and good for people who like bulky cars! It is fast and smooth. Has a skylight, the steering is not to bad. But the brakes are a little too hard sometimes.

There is a plug in the trunk. I was surprised .
It is a good size SUV for a budget strict person. I bought a deep freezer and was able to load it through the trunk. Back seats have plenty of room, and the seats are easy to clean. I wish the display was touch screen. I do think a backseat USB plugs would be awesome, so my child can watch her iPad while plugged up. Overall, good SUV.

Reliable car with great safety features.
I have never had any problems with this car. Great for traveling with people and very reliable. Blind spot monitors and other safety features make car excellent for younger drivers. Gas mileage is great and gas is very cheap comparatively. Great car for a first car for a teenager.

For a great family vehicle nothing beats the Nissan rogue, serviceable.
I have never had any problems with the vehicle. I gave it a 4 based on the fact that I am not really an SUV guy. This vehicle is a great family car with pretty good gas mileage. I have yet to have any warranties or recalls on the vehicle. I would consider this vehicle again if in the market for an SUV.

Stylish, comfortable and dependable.
At times the screen will be black when I turn my car on. The audio will work but I will not be able to change the channel or use the touch screen. To fix I have to turn my car on and off, sometimes multiple times. Other than that issue I love my car. It is the second rogue I have leased and definitely intend on leasing another.

2019 Nissan rogue sport - review.
I love this car. It gets great gas mileage, it is sleek and have had 0 issues with it. I think Nissan is one of the best makers out there and absolutely love this rogue sport. It has enough room for 5 passengers and a driver. You can fold down the seats in the back for more room if needed. It's a good size mid-SUV. It handles all different types of weather and has great in- car technology.

My royal blue Nissan rogue.
The Nissan rogue has always been my favorite car. I haven't had any problems with it.. It is been one of the most reliable cars I have ever owned. My trim level sv comes with automatic trunk opening which is my absolute favorite thing. The automatic start is great in the winter. Apple CarPlay is great as well.

Excellent compact sporty SUV.
The Nissan rogue sport is a very compact SUV. Even though it is small it is very spacious on the inside. The backup camera is very helpful and clear. The emergency and maintenance alerts are very resourceful. Especially if you commute long distance as I do. It gets very good gas mileage. The 1 downfall I have had is the Bluetooth. My phone will connect and disconnect randomly while driving. Really annoying especially if I am using GPS.

Perfect family car - we couldn't live without it!
We have had absolutely no problems with our Nissan rogue. It fits our family of 5 perfectly. Has wonderful gas mileage and runs beautifully. We have taken it on long road trips and short trips to the grocery store. The back end is perfect size for our tons of groceries and tons of suitcases. We couldn't ask for a better family car!

Silver Nissan rogue, reliable family SUV.
Very reliable car, comfortable to drive in, has built in back camera and touch screen up front which allows Bluetooth connection to play music, maps and more. Only issue is that it's slightly hard for me to see when I drive sometimes because I am very short.
