Alex Showalter
Mar 22, 2023

The 2020 Toyota Corolla lasts around 300,000 miles with relatively minor stereo and A/C system issues reported. At $19,400 to $23,025, it’s pricey, but worth the money for one of the most reliable compact cars on the market.

Great design, better features and performance.
I really love my corolla hybrid. It gets pretty great gas mileage when in eco mode. It has a fair amount of power, especially when in performance mode. I really like the interior. The lane correct and other driver assist features are very useful. The car as a whole looks very professional. It is a very smooth ride but more importantly, it is a very quiet ride.

Better cruise control technology.
My car is new and I just bought it last week. I have no had time to read the driver's manual, so my opinion is limited but so far I like my car. I used to drive a Toyota corolla 2017 with 4 doors and the new car is very similar except the cruise control. The technology has improved. Before I had to take control of the steering wheel while driving with the cruise control and when the car crossed or got very close to the white line the car will try to correct the car with sudden movements but now the car does not need the driver to take control of the steering wheel and the car stays in the middle of the road; while driving by itself in cruise control I can feel subtle movements to keep the car in the middle of the road even in the curves.

This car is a really good buy.
The car runs smoothly and will let you know when it needs maintenance. The car is really easy to understand and the screen is touch screen which makes things easier to use. The seats are very comfortable and the trunk has enough space for all of the things I have for work.

Great car! Reliable, sleek and safe!
My vehicle is very reliable and a smooth ride. I particularly like the sleek look of the car. The fabric interior is a light color so you have to be careful with stains. My car has apple carplay which I love and a big screen for ease of use. One downside to my car that just might be a defect in my personal car, is the fact that the seat sticks when trying to recline it. The gas mileage is fabulous and it is a very safe car. You’ll love the adaptive cruise control!
accountCircle Jocelyn T
What I love most about this car is the cruise control!
The only thing that was challenging was the screen use for Bluetooth and such. It did come with a manual which was wonderful! I have figured out pretty much everything but the navigation system. I downloaded the application on my phone, as instructed through the manual. Every time I go to use the application on the screen in the car, I will not show me the actual map nor show me where the streets are. It shows me written directions, which is not the safest while driving.

Best gas mileage, has great size, and drives really smooth.
It is a great driving vehicle with awesome gas mileage, wouldn't buy any other car. It has plenty of space for 4 people and drives smooth. It has a good design in the cabin and the silver color is easy to keep clean. The warranty on it really helps with oil changes and other things that may happen with the vehicle.

Toyota corolla 2020: best car.
There is no problems if I am being honest. The way it drives is very smooth sometimes when I am driving I cannot feel that I am speeding. It has a panel that is compatible with Alexa and apple. It is a great feature because I used to have a salvaged Nissan versa 2012 so it is a big upgrade. I love being able to have my maps in the big screen specially because I need glasses to see so compared to the maps on my phone and on the console is way better quality and bigger letters. It is a very spacious car! The trunk fits two strollers the one for my down and the one for my kid and I still have room to place things on top. The car fits 5 people, I have gone on road trips and my friends said it was a comfortable car to be in. Also it has an sos button which can provide roadside assistance or have the police come if you need them. Another thing is it include swat service which means it can track your car so when it is stolen you can find it. The app for that also includes a part that you can stop the ignition to turn on so one can drive it without you wanting it to.

Great mean looking modern sport edition car.
I have no issues with this car I love it and great gas mileage. It has extremely comfortable seats maybe not for someone 6ft but 6’4 fits. Great aesthetics as well, they did a good job at making the car look meaner as a sport edition and very modern as well.

Comfort of driving
Very strong vibration in the seats when the car is stopped on lights and AC is on, in Corolla 2020 LE. Toyota Service Dept. Said , that the vibration is a normal future of this model and advised me " to live with it "

Audio
The audio system is extremely poor! Toyota offers an optional JBL system but it appears to only be available in the XSE trim. All of the audio is in the front with very little coming from the rear; leaving you with a very unbalanced audio experience. The quality of the sound by comparison to previous years is also poor.
accountCircle Bonnie R
Toyota corolla is awesome but not enough room for a lot of people.
It works great but I can fit nothing in my car. I cannot even fit a stroller in my car and that is embarrassing. The doors do not open fully so that is why. Other than that everything else works awesome, but when you are having kids it sucks you cannot fit much in it. I know it is a smaller car but at least let me put a stroller in it.
accountCircle Roy R
The hybrid power is vital to this corolla’s value.
This, my friends, is the beauty of a Toyota corolla. Oh, it is not exterior beauty as with the others. However, Toyota’s 2020 corolla is pleasant enough looking. No, this is simplicity and value delivered in a handsome package so you do not feel like a geek driving an odd-shaped hybrid that garners road rage among those who prefer power over efficiency.

Life threatening :Brand new 2020 stopped suddenly almost causing a crash
Bought the Corolla LE in Feb 2020, car was just in for the free scheduled June maintenance, mentioned car stutters. July the car stalled and came to a full stop and almost caused a crash. Then engine came on and could get car to start.

Loud engine
IEngine started out smooth. I loved it the first couple of days or so. About 600 miles on the engine start hearing loud tapping. Service department says-it’s a characteristic of these motors. Then a constant buzzing sound with acceleration. After an oil change it runs good again for a few hundred miles and now the noises are back louder than ever. I expected my first new car purchase to be a memory of pride and happiness instead it’s the worst vehicle I’ve ever owned. Seriously considering trading it in and taking a loss on it to be rid of it and it only has 3,200 miles on it now.

Wipers not working-Toyota says they do not know why
We have three 2020 Corolla LEs and all three are having a dangerous problem with the wipers. When in intermittent setting the wipers will suddenly freeze and stop working in mid windshield. To get them to work again you have to move it out of intermittent. ALL THREE of the cars are doing this/ Local dealership says they can't find a problem. That is not the right answer. When all three identical models are experiencing the identical problem, this is a factory defect. Anybody else having this problem?

No Android Auto
I bought a 2020 toyota corolld, worst mistake I've ever made. No android auto, which means no navigation. Toyota could give an update but won't,to busy bragging about it in their 2021 model. Feel VERY ripped off. No more toyotas for me ever.

What Do Critics Say About the Toyota Corolla?

  • Consumer Reports says the 2020 Toyota Corolla offers improvements on the outgoing models, with good owner satisfaction scores.
  • Edmunds rates the Corolla at 3.5/5, praising the comfortable ride quality, but doesn’t like the limited rear seat headroom.
  • Kelley Blue Book users give the 2020 Corolla a 4.2/5, enjoying the advanced standard safety features, but owners don’t like the boring driving experience.

What Common Problems Does the 2020 Toyota Corolla Have?

Common problems found on the 2020 Toyota Corolla include the stereo system freezing, a sour smell from the A/C system, along with trouble changing gears in cold weather. Overall, these problems are fairly minor compared to other compact cars on the market, leading to low repair costs as the Corolla ages.

The stereo system freezing is the most widespread complaint on the 2020 Toyota Corolla, showing up in the first 1,500 miles. There are software updates available for the EnTune infotainment system which improves its reliability. Most dealers will install these updates for free, while some charge around $50.

A sour smell from the A/C system is another issue reported by 2020 Corolla owners at around 5,000 miles. Usually the problem is caused by a clogged condenser drain line for the A/C system. Cleaning out the drain line costs around $100, depending on local labor rates.

Trouble changing gears in cold weather also shows up on some Corolla models in the first 5,000 miles. Usually, the problem is just caused by the fluid being thick in extreme cold conditions. Allowing the transmission to heat up, which will cause the fluid to thin out, solves the problem usually.

There are two recalls on the 2020 Toyota Corolla, which is similar to other small cars from the same year. The most serious recall covers the backup lights, which may fail. Toyota will replace the wire harness on affected models for free. The second recall is for a load capacity label, which Toyota will also replace.

How Long Will the 2020 Toyota Corolla Last?

A well-maintained 2020 Toyota Corolla can last over 300,000 miles, which is over 50,000 miles more than competitors like the Honda Civic. Regular annual maintenance costs are lower than average according to data provided by Repair Pal, at $304 per year.

As a used 2020 Toyota Corolla reaches 100,000 miles, and depending on the vehicle history, owners should be prepared to replace the fuel filter costing $130, stabilizer bar links costing $200, along with the crankshaft position sensor which costs $250.

  • Pedestrian detection

Very smooth and easy to drive. Easy to park, with heated seats. Good for small petite people, not good for tall, heavy people. I miss a CD player, but have Sirius radio. Nice sunroof and very good gas mileage. Not very much storage in glove box and middle console.

Zippy but needs improvement.
Loud interior, somewhat rough ride. Steering wheel feels slightly crooked. Loud engine noise. I know I got the low end model, but dang it is a slow car. Takes a while to warm up. I think Toyota is falling behind the curve on innovation on interior features.

A comfortable car that drives like a luxury car.
I have 4 door corolla l. A spacious car, this corolla is as big or bigger than the cars of the past years. There is plenty of room in back and front seats it would be nice to have leather seats and remote opener for the doors but for our budget it helped not have those luxuries. The car handles very well on all roads. Picks speed while entering freeway and in passing another car. Plenty of trunk space and seats fold down for longer items. Good gas mileage is a plus. We feel safe and comfortable in our corolla and enjoy being in it.

I have had no problems with my car! Vehicle is amazing. No problems at all. It is a great family car if you have kids as well. The camera is great help when backing up. You can connect to the Bluetooth if you want to connect your phone. You can listen to youtube while charging your phone. Also once your phone is added to the sources, your parked location saves in your phone. You will never lose your car. It drives really smoothly and is very reliable. I love the car, all you need to do is an oil change and it will run very smoothly.

About this car is the screen in the front it looks like it is from a luxury car.
The seats inside the car are really comfortable with lumbar support. But if you want to charge your phone in the back seats, you will not be able to because it does not have USB outlets. In another hand the way this puppy saves gas is wonderful. It also has the standard sound quality. But better yet! It is super affordable. For like 22k you get to take it home and see how amazing it is and how comfortable it is in the driver side. Totally recommend this car.

I love the display area. However hate that it always has to connect to the phone, there weren't any clear instructions on how to navigate the technology. Which would have made things easier. It was hard to figure out the different features and how to work them and how to set them up. The car seats are overall comfortable. But the seat belts do not go around comfortably. There’s plenty leg room which is nice in the front. However in the back the leg room is limited. It was costly to fix the damaged door since it is a new car. However it is a Toyota to parts are available for cheaper.

It gets 55.6 mpg which is great given my commute. It has a smart set to know when to pull form electric, gas, or both. It can work on simply electric in parking garages. Pros: gas mileage, great interior and wonderful space for a smaller vehicle. My husband is tall and a bit overweight he does not using my car at all because it is very small. Love the signal indicators when I am getting too close to another lane. The emergency brakes are better than would have imagined. Comfortable and perfect for traveling to and from work. I enjoy the screen making it easy to use GPS without having to check my phone and can just speak to my car using siri.

I get 700-600 miles a full tank! For $30~.
My corolla is the best car I have driven. I had the 2017 before this new model. My 2020 is a hybrid and in total can cost 25-30 dollars to refill it all the way! It is so efficient on gas. I get almost 700-600 miles a full tank! I have taken that car everywhere mammoth, Joshua Tree, hopefully up the west coast next!

The best decision I ever made!
Very reliable car. Awesome gas mileage fill up every two weeks and only takes twenty dollars! I love it. I wish back seat was a little bit bigger. Really awesome car for a college student or even a high school student. Amazing safety ratings which make feel like I made the perfect decision buying this car. I have absolutely no regrets. First car was a Toyota and I will continue to buy them for a very long time!

The mileage is great for a 2020 corolla.
The most I have ever spent on gas is about $35. It is a safe car and it is good for commuting. Gas usually lasts me about a week and a half. For the price, you are getting your money’s worth. The car is not cramped and for a sedan it has a lot of legroom. I have the 2020 model and the sound system is amazingly the car also has paddle shifters which is pretty cool for a corolla.

New Toyota owner, highly recommend this vehicle to anyone.
Problems: I haven't had any problems with the vehicle, however, if you are not tech savvy or have a smartphone some of the features may not be relevant to you. Performance: the vehicle performs well, rides smoothly, reliability: very reliable, maintenance keeps the car in top shape. Comfort: the seats are comfortable the back seat could be a bit bigger but it is roomy for a 4 door sedan. Features: backup camera, apple play apps, GPS, Bluetooth,

I would not switch to another car brand.
I like the Toyota corolla. It is very reliable car and has decent gas mileage. This is my second car and compared to the Kia I had it is way better. I have a white one and I was afraid scratches and dirt would show easily but it does not. Toyota is always a joy to work with as well. They are very kind and understanding as well as helpful!

Toyota corolla, reliable vehicle.
I really do love my car. Toyota’s are known for being reliable vehicles and I have never had a problem with them. As long as you keep up with the basic maintenance you should not have any issues for a very long time. I love the interior of mine as well, it is very spacious and is comfortable to use for my daily vehicle as well as road trips.

The most reliable and dependable car.
I love all the safety features it provides. It is very comfortable and the touch screen with all of its features are great! I love how smooth the drive is. There is not a way for me to swerve. The car aligns itself if you go out of the lines. The gas mileage is perfect.

Safety features and backside camera when reversing.
The Toyota corolla se 2020 is a really great car. The first reason this car is great is because it is new!New cars are great. The second reason is because it had safety features. One safety feature I love is the fact that the car alerts you when you are going over the line. Another feature I love is the backside camera that turns on when you are reversing. There is also another safety feature that allows the car to stop in cruise control if you are about to hit another car. The 2020 controlla is clean, and smooth. Driving this car feels very free and light while also safe with all the safety features.

Engine light problems! Good car though.
I love my car. The only thing I cannot stand is that almost everything is electric. My engine light is always on and it is a new car. Nothing is wrong with my engine it is just the engine light is sensitive. It is always going off & on. I took it but the shop and they couldn't help me.

Great overall ride-get it if you need versatility.
A 2020 Toyota corolla se is extremely reliable, very comfortable for both in city and longer road trips, and very fuel efficient. A 6-7 hr road trip can be covered on one tank of gas. Additionally, the cruise control and radars makes it a comfortable drive that alerts you to drops in speed limits. Coupled with google maps, and you'll avoid being the victim of a speed trap.

2020 corolla is safe.
The gas mileage is amazing in this car! I love the way it feels on the road as well. The road noise and engine noise is very minimal as well. It is most definitely a safe car as well with all the features like stop assistance and air bags everywhere! I also enjoy the cruise control as it has a lane assist and distance as well. Def a good option.

An interesting detail is when you buy the car off the lot, it is worth it.
Very reliable car, tells you when you get out of your lane. Keeps you safe on the road also mostly when your car is having troubles it tells you more about where the problem is. Very specific and is a very a good car and worth all the money. I remember when I first got the car I didn't like it but as I kept driving it made me realized how good of a car it is.

My favorite detail about my car is the voice command feature for safety reasons.
My car is a lease and I absolutely love it! I have navigation feature, Bluetooth, and apple CarPlay. The screen in my car is also touch screen and it will read your messages if you ask it to! The car is a comfortable size great for a college student with amazing gas mileage. Couldn't ask for a better car!

Toyota corolla le is a pleasure to drive and own.
The only thing I do not like about the car is the lack of a CD player. The new cars do not offer an option to have one. Also, there is an issue with blind spot on the car. I have no other issues or dislikes with the car. I have always enjoyed during corollas since my sister bought her first one.

2020 Toyota corolla. I am in love with my new car.
I really love my 2020 Toyota corolla. It's very good on gas. I would love it the radio display was not so big. And could go up and down to hide when not in use. Other than the display it's a nice size car. Nit for a big family but am in love with it. I am going for the highlander next.

Toyota corolla. The best car I have ever owned.
I love my new Toyota corolla. It is very roomy inside and compact enough to fit in most parking spaces. It is has excellent gas mileage. This is the first Toyota I have ever owned and now I know I will always want to own a Toyota. It is the smartest purchase I have made.

Swerve control & automatic brake system, very reliable, good gas mileage.
No problems with the car. Very comfortable and efficient. Has swerve control and will brake for you if someone stops quickly in front of you while driving. There is also great gas mileage. I half to up my tank half the amount I used to. I would recommend Toyota to anyone who asked.

Toyota corolla totally worth it!
The car is very reliable and easy to maintain. The gas mileage is great and I would definitely recommend that anyone get this car because it is amazing. Are you looking for a car with good gas mileage and that drives extremely well? Because if you really are, then the Toyota corolla 2020 is the car for you.

The Toyota corolla is a great compact car for a single or small family.
Absolutely love the car. The trunk is very spacious. The seats are comfortable. The car rides very smooth and the safety measures are great! The only downside is that the car itself is small which is good for a single person but may not be for a family.
accountCircle Courtney S on April 18, 2021
Top tier Toyota corolla! You need it!
Top tier. I truly love my car. It drives very well and is very comfortable on cross country road trips. The trunk has ample space and adults can fit in the backseat comfortably. The car is easy to clean (inside and out) and seats are extremely durable. The safety features are great as well. Drives well in snow too! The speed and sport mode are fun for that sports car feel. I have the hold feature which is awesome- it allows you to break and stop without keeping your foot on the brake pedal. Also, you can never go wrong with the 2 year included Toyota care.

The large screen on display inside.
I love my car!! It is so reliable, great on gas, and looks amazing. It has a large screen on display that is aesthetically pleasing and allows you to go through your music, send text through siri, and has GPS. The back up camera is amazing as well allows me to parallel park perfectly.

Highlights are the accessories that with the car.
Very great car overall. Wanted something fairly small but not too small. Great for a family of 4-5. Really love Toyota also. Great aspects and accessories of the car also. Would not trade it any or look for anything else. A dream car, must have! Also would be a great Christmas gift.

Button to keep you in the lines on the road.
The 2020 Toyota corolla is a great car in my opinion. It comes with a lot of different features, but one of my favorites is that you can push a button for it to basically drive itself. Another favorite part of it is the screen in it, it's such a good feature when it comes to needing directions and stuff like that.
