Good reliable car with no frills.
Very reliable. Very few problems, except one seat has stopped working for good. Good performance and comfort. Features are good, reliability is good, comfort is good. All in all a good car for the price and reliability is great. The base price was good and reliable car. Good job!

Very safe and nice car. It has 140,000 miles on the car.
I have owned my 2003 Toyota highlander for 3 years now. It has been very trustworthy for the past 2 years, but this year I just started experiencing problems with it. However, it is an older car so I do not expect it to drive perfectly. My car runs very good on gas and very reliable and I feel safe driving it. I had problems with the muffler a few months ago and got it fixed, and after that I felt a lot better about the car. I especially liked how reasonable repairs are on this car, it is not very expensive since it is not considered a 'luxury' car. I think that Toyota's are very reliable, and I highly recommend buying a Toyota, especially for first time drivers which this car was my first car that I got when I got my license.

Nice looking and comfortable family car with an SUV feel.
It is very reliable, very comfortable. The windows make visibility excellent; I feel very safe driving it. It is not too high up, so getting in and out is very easy.

If you take care of it it will last for decades.
My Toyota Highlander has been the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. It was 4 years old when I bought it and it has lasted longer than both of the Plymouth Voyagers I owned. I hope to own for many years more.

Toyota highlander, the large midsize SUV of your dreams.
No problems. Large sized, rides smoothly. Easy to maintain, durable interior. This vehicle is also kid and pet friendly and stands up to spills and roughness. My car has leather beige interior. This vehicle also has a sun roof and racks on top to load large items.

Reflections of a Toyota highlander. I love the skylight. It is great.
I have a used 2003 Toyota highlander. I bought it in 2016. For an older car, it has been very reliable. Regular oil changes keeps it going. It is a very comfortable car and it rides very well. Mechanical problems have been very minimal. I have had a water pump replaced. It has been great.

Great interior spaces do accessibility.
Love ease of getting in and out. Reliable. Good on gas. Roomy but not too large. Comfortable back seat. No issues with frequent trips to dealer. No rust after 14 years. Great in snow and ice. Great wear on upholstery. Easy steerability. Good visibility with rear mirrors.

Its extremely reliable and that it doesn't cost much to do repairs if you need any at all.
I dislike the gas mileage I get in the car. I like the ride and the space within the car. I like that it is reliable and still running after all of these years.

It is very reliable. No major problems, just normal maintenance. Very comfortable easy to drive. I feel very safe in it. I am tall so need a roomy drivers side which this has. Nice cargo space easy access. Back seats fold down easily for move space. It is fun to drive.

The 2003 Toyota Highlander is tough, reliable, and has stuck by me for years
My highlander is a tank. It's taken me across the country and back. It's taken me up mountains, back in the woods, and through big cities. I have probably put more into it in repairs than I should have, because I've moved a lot and struggled to find mechanics who have the same values as I do. At 160k miles and 15yrs it's finally giving me trouble that I'm actually worried about ' a shaking when it downshifts. Worried it's the transmission and that it will be a big fix. I'm going to a new mechanic in a few weeks to get it checked out. Best features: cupholders in the back and almost zero blind spots

Trustworthy and safe to drive
I like my highlander because it is sturdy, safe, handles well, and is roomy enough should I need to transport large items. It handles well in poor road conditions and I feel safe driving in snow and ice.

2003 Toyota highlander top notch.
Great sports utility vehicle! Still running amazing. Great gas saver. Not big nor small. Lots of trunk room. The only downfall would be the daylight running lights. Always on. But, good safety feature that gets me a discount from my insurance company!

One woman's opinion about the Toyota Highlander.
This champagne colored Toyota Highlander is a very reliable car. With consistent maintenance it has lasted for 15 years. It is roomy enough to carry most anything, especially when the back seat is folded down. It is fairly easy to park and has an adequate amount of acceleration for a car of its age.

It is reliable and has very few maintenance problems. It is still running like new. If I were to buy a new car, it would be the same car in the current year.

accountCircle Connor B on February 22, 2021
It is a hybrid with 2 engines which gives it a lot of horsepower.
It has flaking paint. It also developed a software issue after a routine smog check. It went into an "ultra-security" mode and will auto lock after a few minutes. It does not affect things but every once in a while will make everyday things annoying if you are not paying attention. Also, the way the back seats were constructed make it really hard to clean. Also has developed an a/c problem where it will switch from blowing cold to hot air if I go downhill. Another small annoyance.

Space and reliably
We had a 2003 Toyota Highlander it was Ok it was in a few crashes and it had some fuel problems the fuel cap had to be replaced a few times and the fuel line cracked before we got rid of it we got into an accident also at the end it leaked oil so after the accident we let it sit for a few months before we put it up for sale we had some problems with the transmission it had a hard time getting into reverse then we sold it to a guy that fixed cars in LA we live in Portland Oregon. Good things it had 145,000 miles when we sold it and it was pretty reliable because it lasted a long time who ever has it is not putting a lot of miles on it because it had a lot of miles

Great car, good mileage, but no bells or whistles. I cant play my mp3 player through the radio-system is too old. Steering wheel squeaks when I turn it, I don't know why. It had always been extremely reliable. Its a 4 cylinder, so I save on gas. Still has plenty of power.

Toyota highlander. The vehicle offering reliability, looks & convenience.
My Toyota highlander has been an amazing vehicle. It is beyond reliable. It has never left me stranded. It runs smooth and quiet. There is very little to nothing I could complain about if I am being honest. My only tiny complaints would be road noise upon cracking a window, which is not really a complaint. Slight sliding tendency on wet roads which only happens if you start too quickly or stop suddenly. I will upgrade my tires the next time and do not expect this will be a problem after that. Overall, my car has been an excellent purchase that I would gladly make again.

Shocks, abs sensor is bad and check engine light is on and brake light sensor is bad. The car has had many issues from the time that I purchased it. Most of the problems are mechanical but sensors are going bad. The abs sensor causes acceleration problems. This became dangerous as I could not accelerate up a hill and had to stop.

Toyota highlander 2003 the best year made.
I love the size of my Toyota. It sits 4 people comfortably and has plenty of cargo space. It is easy to park. My car is all wheel drive which is great in the winter. It handles extremely well. Since the vehicle is all wheel drive it sit higher than a normal sedan which makes it easy to get in and out of. Also the hatchback is convenient for groceries and even my dog who likes to sit back there on long trips. My car odometer just hit 200, 000 miles. The body is in perfect shape. I would say the only downside to my vehicle is the brakes. They do not seem to last long.

Long lasting car! Great size.
This car has been in my family since we bought it in 2003. It was owned by my mom for the first few years. It was then passed down to my brother, and a few years later passed down to me. It is such a great car. We have around 160,000 miles on it right now and its 16 years old. It has been on many road trips. It currently takes trips to and from New Jersey to Vermont still every year to this day. There really isn't too much to complain about. We got the 4 wheel drive and 6 cylinder engine. We have, however, had to do some work on it more recently with it getting so old and taking 6 hour drives up to Vermont. We have had to change a few of the belts and the sensors that set of the check engine light. Specifically, when we turn on the heat or air conditioning, it will set off a loud screech. It will stop screeching when you turn them off, and if the car has been on for a few minutes before you turn it on, this doesn't happen! Also, this seems to be an easy and relatively inexpensive fix, but we've had to fix it twice. Very recently we had to replace the battery, and some other smaller things. Yet, we have never had to do any major work on it, and trust me my brother and I have banged it up a bit for sure. It' still drives on! Great car. It has been through a lot and is very long lasting. It is a perfect size for an active life and has racks on the roof for skis and kayaks and stuff like that. I would definitely recommend this car.

Reliable vehicle the whole family can enjoy!
My car has been very reliable. No major problems beyond standard repairs. Only problem I experienced was the motor for the power window on driver's side stopped working. The leather seats are comfortable and with kids I like the number of cup holders. Great family car with plenty of space in trunk.

Proven and durable over the long haul.
This vehicle has been a rock. It continues to perform effectively despite high mileage. The only issues I have had to deal with have been minor problems that come with vehicle ownership. Very happy overall. I anticipate continued success in driving this car for years to come.

Roomy and Reliable Midsize SUV
Reliable SUV with extremely roomy interior. Holding up well even with 100k+ miles on it with just basic maintenance. Front passenger seat is not comfortable for any long period of time, seat slopes forward and is not adjustable. Tons of legroom in back seat.

My favorite car! Reliable and spacious.
The Toyota Highlander is my favorite car. It's a smooth and reliable car to drive. I love the four door access of an SUV and great trunk space for a medium size car. The highlander has all the perks of an SUV but drives like a small car. You can easily fit two car seats in the back seat and spacious for passengers. This cars lasts a long time being made by Toyota. You can't go wrong with this car.

Low mileage 03 Highlander
Gas mileage is decent. Runs well. Very reliable. Never breaks down. Low mileage. Gas cap lock. Power doors locks and windows. Remote keyless entry. Back seat folds down. Vehicle has a clean title history. No accidents. Well taken care of. Driven rarely as I work from home and only need vehicle for shopping and visiting family.
